Adversaries hijacked AI security tools at 90+ organizations. The next wave has write access to the firewall

Adversaries hijacked AI security tools at 90+ organizations. The next wave has write access to the firewall

Adversaries injected malicious prompts into legitimate AI tools at more than 90 organizations in 2025, stealing credentials and cryptocurrency. Every one of those compromised tools could read data, and none of them could rewrite a firewall rule. The autonomous SOC agents shipping now can. That escalation, from compromised tools that read data to autonomous agents that rewrite infrastructure, has not been exploited in production at scale yet. But the architectural conditions for it are shipping faster than the governance designed to prevent it. A compromised SOC agent can rewrite your firewall rules, modify IAM policies, and quarantine endpoints, all with its own privileged credentials, all through approved API calls that EDR classifies as authorized activity. The adversary never touches the network. The agent does it for them. Cisco announced AgenticOps for Security in February, with autonomous firewall remediation and PCI-DSS compliance capabilities. Ivanti launched Continuous Compliance and the Neurons AI self-service agent last week, with policy enforcement, approval gates and data context validation built into the platform at launch — a design distinction that matters …

Why human-centric design and digital tools will determine the success of the energy transition

Why human-centric design and digital tools will determine the success of the energy transition

As countries push to accelerate electrification by expanding renewable capacity and modernising ageing grids, it is becoming clearer that the energy transition will be built by a workforce of people as much as by infrastructure, as Vincent Desalle explores. The sector speaks frequently about investment levels, supply chains and new technologies. However, the most decisive variable in reaching climate and electrification targets may be something far more human – the skilled technicians responsible for installing and maintaining the vast network of cable systems, joints, connections and components that keep the grid running. Across many regions, utilities are facing rising demand for new grid connections and upgrades, yet the workforce needed to carry them out is under unprecedented strain. Retirements are accelerating and training requirements are becoming more complex as power networks evolve. This is not a marginal issue. Even if material supply and funding keep pace with demand, the shortage of qualified field technicians threatens to become a bottleneck for the entire energy transition. Without a workforce that can install and maintain new infrastructure safely …

Google Photos adds new touch-up tools for ‘quick’ fixes

Google Photos adds new touch-up tools for ‘quick’ fixes

Google Photos’ image editor is getting new touch-up tools to allow users to apply subtle edits and fixes, Google announced on Monday. You can use the new tools to remove blemishes, refine skin texture, brighten eyes, whiten teeth, and more. You can access the touch-up tools by selecting a face in a photo, then choosing which tool you want to use: heal, smooth, under eyes, irises, teeth, eyebrows, or lips. Once you choose a tool, you can adjust the intensity of the effect. Image Credits:Google (screenshot) The new touch-up tools are gradually rolling out globally in the Google Photos app on Android devices with at least 4 GB RAM and Android 9.0 and up. By launching its own touch-up tools, Google is likely hoping that people will stay within Google Photos when editing their images instead of navigating to a third-party app. It’s worth noting that studies have shown that constantly retouching photos may be harmful and lead to negative emotions, low self-esteem, or body image issues. I replaced Task Manager, Startup apps, and Event Viewer with three better Microsoft tools

I replaced Task Manager, Startup apps, and Event Viewer with three better Microsoft tools

If something goes wrong with your PC, be it sluggish performance, slow startup issues or even frequent crashes, Windows offers a few built-in tools to know what’s wrong. For instance, Task Manager can tell you if sluggish performance is due to high disk or memory usage by a process, and Startup apps lets you measure and fix slow startup issues. Event Viewer, on the other hand, helps you know why and when your system crashed. But these tools only scratch the surface. You get the what, rarely the why. You could install third-party tools to fill that gap, but I didn’t have to. Microsoft’s own Sysinternals suite already has sharper alternatives to all three, built by the same people who know Windows internals better than anyone. Process Explorer, Autoruns, and Sysmon have replaced Task Manager, Startup apps, and Event Viewer on my setup for a while now. Process Explorer shows you what Task Manager hides A proper process tree with color-coded internals Task Manager is fine for the basics. I can glance at the Processes …

Hightouch reaches 0M ARR fueled by marketing tools powered by AI

Hightouch reaches $100M ARR fueled by marketing tools powered by AI

Historically, marketers relied on designers and other creative professionals to develop images and videos for personalized online ad campaigns. In late 2024, seven-year-old startup Hightouch launched an AI-powered service that allows marketing professionals to create custom content for brands such as Domino’s, Chime, PetSmart, and Spotify without involving brand design teams or ad agencies. The offering has been highly successful. Since introducing its AI product 20 months ago, Hightouch has added $70 million in annualized recurring revenue (ARR), it tells TechCrunch, bringing the startup to a total of $100 million in ARR. “Before GenAI, it was impossible for someone without many, many years of design skills to create consumer-level assets,” said Kashish Gupta, Hightouch’s co-CEO. The company is also led by co-CEO Tejas Manohar, a former engineering manager at Segment, a customer data platform acquired by Twilio for $3.2 billion in 2020. However, Hightouch’s approach goes beyond what standard AI models can do on their own. Hightouch says that many brands initially attempted to generate ad campaigns using general foundational models — broad AI systems …

These Are the 3 Power Tools You Need (2026)

These Are the 3 Power Tools You Need (2026)

If you do go for a circular saw, you have to decide: corded or cordless. If all things were equal, that’d be easy. No one loves a cord. The problem is that corded saws are more powerful. I own both, but if I could only keep one it’d be the corded saw. That said, I probably use my cordless more for the simplicity of being able to take it anywhere. If you do go cordless, change your blade often. It takes much more power to cut with a dull blade, and a cordless circular saw doesn’t have the power to spare. Making sure you have a sharp blade will not only make cutting easier, but will make your battery last longer. It’s always better to buy a cheap saw and a high-quality blade than the opposite. If you do go cordless, the next decision you’ll face is brushless vs. brushed motors. A saw with a brushless motor is better in almost every way. The performance is better, it’s more efficient, and it’s more durable. A …

Home Depot Spring Black Friday (2026): Best Tool and Grill Deals

Home Depot Spring Black Friday (2026): Best Tool and Grill Deals

Words have no meaning when Black Friday falls in April and lasts two weeks. Originally coined to denote the pandemonium and chaos when holiday shopping met football games after Thanksgiving, Black Friday has come to blankly mean “discounts whenever.” And so when The Home Depot says they’ve got a “Spring Black Friday” sale going, what they seem to be trying to say is that springtime might as well be Christmas for the DIY and backyard set. It’s when you buy stuff. Except probably for yourself. Anyway, most of this sale is not a barn-burner. But Home Depot loves a BOGO tool sale on the Milwaukee tools used and recommended by WIRED tester Scott Gilbertson. And Weber grills are $50 to $100 off, including a couple of WIRED’s favorite grills on earth. Here are the deals WIRED is tracking on the Home Depot Black Friday Spring Sale, ending April 22. Or just check out the whole Home Depot Black Friday deals below. $50 off the Best Gas Grill for Most Families Weber Spirit E-210 Gas Grill …
