The reputation of troubled YC startup Delve has gotten even worse

The controversy surrounding compliance startup Delve has gone from bad to worse this week. Among the fresh allegations from the anonymous whistleblower known as DeepDelver is the claim that Delve allegedly took an open source tool and passed it off as its own work without proper license attribution to or monetary agreement with the original developer. The story goes that the Delve team pitched a no-code tool it called Pathways to a prospect. That prospect would later become the whistleblower DeepDelver. DeepDelver recognized that Pathways looked a lot like Sim.ai’s open source agent-building product called SimStudio and asked Delve if it was based on SimStudio. The Delve folks said they built it themselves, the whistleblower contends. DeepDelver then presented alleged evidence that this tool was actually a fork — a modified copy — of SimStudio, changed just enough to be passed off as Delve’s own. If that proves true, it would be a violation of the Apache software license, which requires the original developer be credited. DeepDelver calls this “stealing intellectual property,” which is a …

“BTS: The Return” captures a poignant snapshot of a troubled comeback

BTS’ comeback could be likened to a classical Greek hero’s homecoming. After years at war – or performing military service as it were – they’re back to pick up where they left off with their lives, music and fans. But as with those ancient tales, such long-awaited returns aren’t without some conflict. “There’s a long lineage of storytellers and filmmakers who have told part of BTS story, and for me, this moment was so pivotal and almost mythical,” director Bao Nguyen told members of the global press at a March 20 screening of his Netflix documentary, “BTS: The Return.” “In a way for me, BTS is like Odysseus, and ARMY and the fans who are longing for BTS to return, are like Penelope. So I thought this moment was really special and unique.” BTS – comprising members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook – took a collective hiatus in 2022 for each of them to participate in South Korean mandatory military service. Their staggered returns allowed for various solo releases and tours, …

Trump’s troubled plan for homeless vets

Trump’s troubled plan for homeless vets

A new pilot program from the Department of Justice and Veterans Affairs aims to help homeless veterans by establishing legal guardianships for those who cannot care for themselves, though the move has drawn concern from veterans’ advocates nationwide. The move by the Trump administration was announced on Wednesday, authorizing the DOJ to appoint VA attorneys as special assistant U.S. attorneys. This would enable them to act as legal guardians and oversee conservatorships for approximately 700 homeless veterans, including the ability to commit them to involuntary hospitals for mental or physical health reasons. “Our new partnership with the Justice Department reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring that every Veteran receives timely, appropriate care, even in complex cases,” VA Secretary Doug Collins said in a statement on Wednesday. Attorney General Pam Bondi said the new initiative would provide these veterans “the support and dignity they deserve.”  “This will give Veterans who need it most legal representation and crucial help in complex medical decisions,” Bondi said in a post on X.  The decision comes after a 2025 executive …

Farrah Fawcett’s troubled son unrecognizable with devil horns in latest appearance

Farrah Fawcett’s only son, Redmond O’Neal, debuted a new set of tattoos during a court appearance on Tuesday as he faced criminal charges. The 41-year-old was seen in an LA courtroom with devil horn tattoos on his forehead, as well as ink on his cheek that read “5250”. This number could be a reference to the California penal code, which authorizes a 14-day involuntary hold for people requiring mental health treatment. Redmond has been in and out of jail and mental health facilities for several years, with his most recent stint due to an alleged crime spree committed in 2018. His recent court appearance saw him face the charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, after he allegedly attacked a man with a glass bottle and stabbed another in 2018. © Getty ImagesRedmond appeared in court on Tuesday Redmond was recently deemed competent to stand trial after spending time in a psychiatric facility. Farrah’s close friend and Redmond’s conservator, Mela Murphy, told People that the former child actor was working on his …

Today’s obsession with authenticity isn’t new – being true to yourself has troubled philosophers for centuries

Today’s obsession with authenticity isn’t new – being true to yourself has troubled philosophers for centuries

(The Conversation) — Today’s youth cherish “authenticity,” but is it a virtue? According to a report from Ernst & Young, more than 9 in 10 Gen Z respondents indicated that being authentic and true to yourself is extremely or very important. In fact, most of them claimed authenticity is more important than any other personal value. This finding is not all that surprising: All of us live in an age where we’re bombarded by social media and artificial intelligence – when striving to be your authentic self becomes an increasingly difficult task. Yet, even if it has somehow become a common goal, it is unclear how many of us can truly define the “authenticity” that we say we are pursuing. I think it’s also worth asking whether sincerity and authenticity are perennial human virtues or just obsessions of this technological age. As a scholar in the history of political thought and American political development, I think two philosophers can help us understand this problem and how to deal with it: Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Martin Heidegger. …

A Word for Our Troubled Times

A Word for Our Troubled Times

IN HIS 2024 book The Age of Grievance, Frank Bruni argues that America is suffering from a cultural sickness. We are angry, acrimonious, and indignant, he observes, consumed by resentments and committed to retaliation. Plenty of empirical data supports Bruni’s assessment. A record high of adults—80 percent—believes that Americans are divided on the most important values. National pride, trust in government, and confidence in institutions are near record lows. The Princeton University historian Sean Wilentz says the United States hasn’t been this divided since the Civil War. Nearly half of Americans think another civil war is likely in their lifetime. Affective polarization—our distaste for those who do not share our politics—is at an all-time high, and shapes everything from where we shop to whom we wed. Individually, Americans are suffering from an “epidemic of loneliness and isolation,” according to a 2023 report by former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy. Depression rates have skyrocketed; instances for adults under 30 have doubled since 2017. Suicide rates have increased by 37 percent since 2000. Anxiety is rising. America is …

Pete Hegseth’s Troubled Soul – The Atlantic

Pete Hegseth’s Troubled Soul – The Atlantic

CERTAIN MOMENTS are worth paying attention to because they reveal something essential about a person. They act as windows into an individual’s psychological state, their ethics, the orders of their loves and their hates. Such occasions are crystallizing. That’s been true of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon briefings since the war against Iran began. We haven’t learned anything we didn’t already know about Hegseth in these briefings. But the press conferences have reminded the world why he is exactly the wrong person to hold the position he does. Wednesday’s briefing, for example, featured the usual Hegseth hubris, strutting, and cockiness. “I stand before you today with one unmistakable message about Operation Epic Fury: America is winning decisively, devastatingly, and without mercy,” he said. He declared that, four days into the mission, Iran is “toast, and they know it. Or at least soon enough they will know it.” He compared the Persian nation’s predicament to that of a football team: “They don’t know what plays to call, let alone how to get in the huddle …

Jam Cruise Is a Five-Day Escape From the Harsh Realities of a Troubled World. But Should It Be?

Jam Cruise Is a Five-Day Escape From the Harsh Realities of a Troubled World. But Should It Be?

Jam Cruise 22 had not yet left the port the first time I saw someone almost die. The MSC Divina—an 1,100-foot mass of sunbaked white metal that first set sail 14 years ago—was still lashed to land in Miami when I decided to try one of its dozen-plus hot tubs, before the 3,300 other passengers had the same brilliant idea. It was early February, the Saturday before the Super Bowl, so I was talking about football with four fellow hot-water enthusiasts when a sixth started to join us. Standing at the tub’s edge, he struggled with his shirt, wrestling it so strenuously that his swim trunks were hanging halfway down his ass before he finally turned toward the water. Unbothered, he climbed in, nodded, pulled his headphones over his ears, and closed his eyes. Every three minutes, one of us would notice that the stranger had nodded off and was slipping under the bubbles, his headphones taking on water. We’d tap him on the shoulder, ask if he was OK, receive a lopsided smile, and …

Troubled waters | Radio Times

The Archers is on Sunday-Friday at 7pm on Radio 4. Add it to your collection It began in 2024 when Alice Carter, an intermittently recovering alcoholic from the prosperous Aldridge family, fell asleep drunk in the passenger seat of her car. Her nephew-in-law George Grundy, a farmworker’s son, couldn’t resist offering to drive her home (it was a flash car). But Alice half-woke and clawed drunkenly for the door: it made George swerve and knock another car, bearing Mick, Joy and Fallon, from the bridge into the River Am. George dived in for a heroic rescue but afterwards panicked and moved the blotto Alice into the driver’s seat. Fallon lost the baby she didn’t know she was expecting, and everyone’s trauma rolled on for weeks. Alice was riven by guilt, though she couldn’t remember driving. George finally admitted the truth: when his grandparents Neil and Susan reported it, he got sent to prison for eight months. On release, he found most of Ambridge pretty unforgiving. Jobless and barred from the Bull, he ranted at all …

Why peace remains elusive in Pakistan’s troubled Balochistan | Conflict News

Islamabad, Pakistan – Stretching across Pakistan’s southwestern border, the mineral-rich province of Balochistan is the country’s largest and poorest region, and the site of its longest-running sub-national conflict. Balochistan’s relationship with the Pakistani state has been uneasy almost since Pakistan came into being in August 1947, following the partition of the subcontinent after the end of colonial rule. Recommended Stories list of 4 itemsend of list The province has witnessed violence since it formally became part of Pakistan a year later in 1948. While the conflict has ebbed and flowed over the decades, it has resurged sharply in recent years, in what analysts describe as an almost unprecedented phase. The latest escalation unfolded on January 31, when coordinated attacks were carried out in nearly a dozen cities across the province by secessionist groups seeking independence. Led by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), the attackers killed more than 30 civilians and at least 18 law enforcement personnel. Following those attacks, during government operations lasting several hours, security forces said they killed more than 150 fighters. A day …
