AI Trusted Less Than Social Media and Airlines, With Grok Placing Last, Survey Says

AI Trusted Less Than Social Media and Airlines, With Grok Placing Last, Survey Says

Google Gemini is the most trusted AI platform among its competition, but many people still have concerns about the technology, according to an American Customer Satisfaction Index poll released Thursday. In ACSI’s results, AI scored an overall customer satisfaction score of 73 on a scale of 0 to 100, which the authors noted was slightly below social media (74), airlines and mortgage lenders, but in line with energy utilities.  Of the five platforms mentioned in the survey, Google Gemini led with 76, followed by Microsoft Copilot (74), Claude and ChatGPT (both 73), and Grok and Perplexity (both 71). Meanwhile, TikTok (77) and YouTube (78) both scored better than the AI platforms. Gemini is one of the most prolific AI services, with access via smart speakers, TVs, phones and computers, while most ChatGPT users access the AI tool via the ChatGPT website or mobile app, and Grok via social media platform X. The ACSI poll found that 43% of respondents said reduced human-to-human interaction is their main concern, followed by job loss for future generations (37%) and their own job …

Justice Department Says Anthropic Can’t Be Trusted With Warfighting Systems

Justice Department Says Anthropic Can’t Be Trusted With Warfighting Systems

The Trump administration argued in a court filing on Tuesday that it did not violate Anthropic’s First Amendment rights by designating the AI developer a supply-chain risk and predicted that the company’s lawsuit against the government will fail. “The First Amendment is not a license to unilaterally impose contract terms on the government, and Anthropic cites nothing to support such a radical conclusion,” US Department of Justice attorneys wrote. The response was filed in a federal court in San Francisco, one of two venues where Anthropic is challenging the Pentagon’s decision to sanction the company with a label that can bar companies from defense contracts over concerns about potential security vulnerabilities. Anthropic argues the Trump administration overstepped its authority in applying the label and preventing the company’s technologies from being used inside the department. If the designation holds, Anthropic could lose up to billions of dollars in expected revenue this year. Anthropic wants to resume business as usual until the litigation is resolved. Rita Lin, the judge overseeing the San Francisco case, has scheduled a …

Carole Middleton’s ‘unique role’ in the royal inner circle – and how she became its most trusted member – exclusive

The Cheltenham Festival always provides the perfect occasion for merriment, a flutter on the horses and some fantastic facial expressions from the crowds as they cheer on the potential winners. Last week, as senior members of the royal family gathered at the annual four-day event, it was the matriarchy who were out in force.  At Ladies Day on Wednesday, the Queen was joined by the Princess Royal and Zara Tindall, with the surprising addition of Carole Middleton, in the absence of her daughter and son-in-law, the Prince and Princess of Wales. Having a whale of a time © Getty ImagesCarole and Zara looked like they were enjoying their time together at Cheltenham And Mrs Middleton – pictured roaring with laughter alongside Zara as they walked side by side through the enclosure, and sharing a joke with Camilla and Anne in the Royal Box – clearly had a whale of a time. Carole’s close bond with the family, and especially its senior female members, was clear for all to see.  Loyal, discreet and utterly devoted to …

How to make your e-commerce product visible to AI agents? Use this new system trusted by L’Oréal, Unilever, Mars & Beiersdorf

How to make your e-commerce product visible to AI agents? Use this new system trusted by L’Oréal, Unilever, Mars & Beiersdorf

For future-focused e-commerce brands, the primary customer is rapidly changing from a person behind a screen to the AI agents that said human customer deploys on their behalf to research and, if projections are correct, purchase the product on their behalf. Investment banking and financial services giant Morgan Stanley, for instance, has published research suggesting 10-20% of the entire U.S. commerce spend could be agentic by 2030 — amounting to $190 billion to $385 billion. In response to this seismic shift, the four-year-old agentic AI e-commerce startup Azoma has unveiled the Agentic Merchant Protocol (AMP). This new framework is designed to provide high-volume retailers — such as grocery brands, electronics manufacturers, and fashion labels — with a “brand-friendly” anchor in an ecosystem increasingly dominated by autonomous shoppers The idea is compelling and deceptively simple at its core: instead of the current status quo wherein merchants selling physical products online have to manually enter information about each product like SKUs and materials on different online marketplaces and product listing aggregators (e.g. Walmart, Amazon, Google Shopping, etc.) …

OpenAI Says It Will Let Users Add Trusted Contacts to Alert If They Experience a Mental Health Crisis While Using ChatGPT

OpenAI Says It Will Let Users Add Trusted Contacts to Alert If They Experience a Mental Health Crisis While Using ChatGPT

Sign up to see the future, today Can’t-miss innovations from the bleeding edge of science and tech As it fights a growing stack of user safety and wrongful death lawsuits, OpenAI says it will introduce a “trusted contact feature” in ChatGPT that will alert a chatbot user’s designated loved one in the event of a possible mental health crisis. OpenAI announced the new feature last week in a blog post, billed as an “update on our mental health-related work.” It said it’s “working closely” with its Council on Well-Being and AI and Global Physicians Network — two internally-regulated groups of experts that were launched after reports of AI-tied mental health crises began to emerge, as well as news of a high-profile lawsuit last August revealing the death by suicide of a 16-year-old ChatGPT user named Adam Raine — to roll out the feature, which it’s marketing as an adult-focused endeavor distinct from its efforts to integrate parental controls and other systems designed to identify and protect minors. The announcement comes after extensive public reporting — in addition …

Europe’s AI ambitions require more investment in advanced and trusted connectivity

Europe’s AI ambitions require more investment in advanced and trusted connectivity

It seems impossible to have a conversation today without artificial intelligence (AI) playing a role, demonstrating the massive power of the technology. AI has the potential to impact every part of business and society, and European policymakers are on board. In February 2025, Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, said: “We want Europe to be one of the leading AI continents … AI can help us boost our competitiveness, protect our security, shore up public health, and make access to knowledge and information more democratic.” Research from Nokia suggests that businesses share this enthusiasm and ambition. Eighty-four percent of more than 1,000 respondents said AI features in the growth strategy of their organization, while 62 percent are directing at least 20 percent of ICT capex budgets toward the technology. However, the equation is not yet balanced. Three-quarters state that current telecom infrastructure limits the ability to deliver on those ambitions, while 45 percent suggest these limitations would delay, constrain or entirely limit investments. There is clearly a disconnect between the ambition …

CPF Board rolls out safety switch, trusted contact notifications to curb scams

CPF Board rolls out safety switch, trusted contact notifications to curb scams

SINGAPORE: The Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board on Monday (Feb 2) launched two anti-scam measures to combat evolving scam tactics. Called the trusted contact notification service and CPF safety switch, the new measures build on existing anti-scam safeguards in place for members. These include a default online CPF daily withdrawal limit of S$2,000 (US$1,600) for members aged 55 and above, the use of biometrics for online nominations and a 12-hour cooling period for increases to daily online withdrawal limits. The CPF safety switch enables members aged 55 and above to immediately secure their CPF accounts if they suspect they have been scammed.  It is a protective measure designed to immediately stop any unintended monetary outflows and prevent the loss of personal information if a member’s Singpass is compromised, said the CPF Board. Upon activation, it will disable access to online services on the CPF website and mobile app, stop in-progress withdrawals and prevent all future withdrawals from the member’s CPF account. Disbursements to the member’s registered bank account will also be stopped. However, incoming CPF …

I trusted this browser feature for years — and I shouldn’t have

If there’s one piece of software on your phone, computer, or any other internet-connected device where your trust is essential, it’s your browser. A browser is your entry into the internet, and it can learn quite a bit about you based on your browsing habits. Web browsers see the sites you visit, store their cookies, and many use analytics to personalize your experience. They might even log how much time you spend on a particular site and which links you click. Since browsers are the gateway to the internet, they can also connect you to features and third-party tools that could put your privacy at risk. Sketchy browser extensions are notorious for security vulnerabilities, and in-browser password managers are said to be weaker than independent options. I’ve been using 1Password for this reason. What I didn’t know is that another popular browser feature, autofill, is just as risky. Browser autofill is a weak link It stores your most critical information in one place Credit: Brady Snyder / MakeUseOf Any time you choose to store information in …
