Where Is Tulsi Gabbard? – The Atlantic

Where Is Tulsi Gabbard? – The Atlantic

The Trump administration is running a war with a skeleton crew, a small group of insiders and officials whose official roles seem to matter less than their loyalty to Donald Trump. When the president was making his decision to go to war with Iran, he met in mid-February with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Other people in the room included White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles; the secretaries of State and Defense, Marco Rubio and Pete Hegseth; and CIA Director John Ratcliffe. During this crucial meeting, Vice President Vance was out of town. Also missing? Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, the person who is in charge of the entire U.S. intelligence community, and who is technically Ratcliffe’s superior. When the war began, the White House put out a picture of Gabbard and Vance meeting with a few Cabinet officials in the Situation Room, looking like they’d been sent to the kids’ table at a wedding. Since then, Gabbard has made herself scarce: She was, after all, once an anti-war Democrat who sold T-shirts …

Tulsi Gabbard’s Iran pivot comes with contradictions

Tulsi Gabbard’s Iran pivot comes with contradictions

One might be tempted to think that the most shameless shape-shifter in the Trump administration is JD Vance. After all, the vice president once called Donald Trump America’s Hitler, and ten years later, he is one of the president’s most ardent supporters. But Vance is a piker compared to the Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. No one in American politics is more brazenly hypocritical — and considering the contenders in the Republican Congress, that’s saying something.  Gabbard appeared last week before the House Select Intelligence Committee and the Senate Intelligence Committee and, along with FBI Director Kash Patel and CIA Director John Ratcliffe, delivered the worldwide threats assessment. But most of the questions were about the war in Iran.  Prior to joining the Trump administration, she was known for her strident and uncompromising anti-war philosophy. In fact, when she ran for president in 2020 while serving as a congresswoman for Hawaii’s second district, her platform was explicitly built around an anti-Iran war message. Gabbard’s testimony was of particular interest because, prior to joining the Trump …

Tulsi Gabbard Struggles to Sell Trump’s War With Iran

Tulsi Gabbard Struggles to Sell Trump’s War With Iran

As she sat before the House Intelligence Committee this week to present the annual “worldwide threats” briefing, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard was stone-faced. When she spoke, she looked sheepish, particularly when confronted with a speech she delivered on the House floor in 2020 after President Donald Trump bombed Iran during his first term. “President Trump has committed an illegal and unconstitutional act of war, pushing our nation headlong into a war with Iran without any authorization from Congress,” Gabbard said at the time. “A war that would be so costly and devastating it would make our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan look like a picnic.” “Director Gabbard,” asked Representative Ami Bera, “do you still believe that strikes against Iran that don’t have congressional authorization constitute an illegal and unconstitutional act of war?” Gabbard refused to say. When pressed repeatedly, she could only muster a meek reply: That she had to check her personal opinions at the door in order to serve as the president’s top intelligence adviser. The bashful display marks rock-bottom for …

After ordering the Iranian general Qassem Soleimani killed in 2020, Donald Trump claimed that the military officer had been “plotting imminent and sinister attacks on American diplomats and military personnel.” But that justification didn’t pass muster with then–Democratic Representative Tulsi Gabbard. Gabbard had long been explicit in her insistence that a president cannot unilaterally decide to attack another country in anticipatory self-defense. She’d even co-sponsored the No More Presidential Wars Act in 2018, which stated that the president must “seek congressional authorization prior to any engagement of the U.S. Armed Forces against Syria, Iran, or Russia.” It was not surprising when, in spite of Trump’s determination that Soleimani had posed an imminent threat, Gabbard insisted that the president had “committed an illegal and unconstitutional act.” Gabbard also warned that a war against Iran in particular would be “so costly …

Tulsi Gabbard squirms as she’s questioned over Iran as Russia calls he | World | News

Donald Trump’s director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, was grilled during an awkward clash with US lawmakers on Wednesday, focused on the Iran war. Her tense exchange came as Russian state media branded Ms Gabbard their only “friend” in Washington. U.S. lawmakers questioned Gabbard on Wednesday after the resignation of a top counterterrorism official, Joe Kent. As she was questioned by U.S. lawmakers, Gabbard appeared to avoid answering a question about Iran’s ‘imminent nuclear threat’. Politico reported that “she’s largely been silent since the U.S. and Israel began striking Iran in late February, and she’s been kept out of military planning on Iran since the U.S. struck nuclear sites in the country last summer”. His comments marked the latest in a series of conflicting explanations for the initial strikes on Tehran that triggered open hostilities on February 28. Insisting Iran was on the brink of nuclear capability, he said: “They would’ve had a nuclear weapon within one month of when we sent the B-2 bombers to hit their nuclear potential.” The warning comes after officials …

Tulsi Gabbard’s conflict of interest — and hypocrisy

Tulsi Gabbard’s conflict of interest — and hypocrisy

Tulsi Gabbard used to champion whistleblowers. As a member of Congress, she believed leaks were a necessary tool in revealing illegal actions taken by the government, and took principled, controversial stands opposing the prosecution of Julian Assange and supporting the pardon of my client Edward Snowden. But Gabbard’s principles went out the door when she joined Donald Trump’s administration as director of national intelligence. She helped lead an anti-leak hysteria that is taking over the federal government. And now, someone is blowing the whistle on her. Because of Gabbard’s past support of whistleblowers, increased public profile as DNI and ongoing rumors concerning the state of her relationship with Trump, which has appeared to be in constant flux, this case has attracted substantial media attention since it was first revealed by the Wall Street Journal on Feb. 2. The story has many layers, and the media has missed several key points involving Gabbard’s conflict of interest and how the whistleblower system has been an abject failure. “Exquisitely” classified As an attorney who represented Thomas Drake, one …

Read more CNBC politics coverage Gabbard has said she was at the center at the direction of President Donald Trump. But Trump has said Gabbard was there at the “insistence” of Attorney General Pam Bondi. Sen. Mark Warner, a Virginia Democrat who is vice chairman of the Intelligence committee, last week called on Gabbard to testify about her presence during the raid. Why Is The Deep State Targeting DNI Tulsi Gabbard With Such Ferocity?

Why Is The Deep State Targeting DNI Tulsi Gabbard With Such Ferocity?

Authored by Sundance via The Conservative Treehouse, Each day more and more people are starting to realize/notice there are elements of the United States intelligence apparatus that are targeting Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard.  The need for control is a reaction to fear, and Tulsi Gabbard has the DC Intelligence Community very worried. What you will read below is something that was written back in 2024 about the potential for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), if President Trump were to win the election. Subsequently, he did win; and while we are not saying this is the exact ODNI script that is being followed, we are certainly not disputing that either. Read the roadmap below –Written in 2024– compare it to current events and decide for yourself if this is something that rings a bell and may explain the IC apoplexy. The ODNI was created as an outcome of the 9-11 Commission recommendations.  In the era shortly after 9/11, the DC national security apparatus was constructed to preserve continuity of government …
