In addition to the poplin tuxedo shirt and brooch, Pascal’s Oscars look also included a crisp pair of tuxedo pants with a coordinating cummerbund and shiny patent-leather shoes. The aforementioned watch was the Chanel Boy Friend timepiece, which featured a black alligator-patterned leather strap and an 18-karat gold face. This is not Pascal’s first time rocking double Cs. He attended the brand’s spring 2026 show—Blazy’s debut collection—at the Grand Palais in Paris last year, wearing a cozy navy sweater with a Chanel logo on its collar and an unreleased flap bag on his shoulder. When it comes to the Oscars, one would hope that a hotly contested best-actor race would be a good omen for an evening of exciting menswear. It helps when the frontrunners in that category are Michael B. Jordan and Timothée Chalamet, two of the most stylish guys in Hollywood. But on the Academy Awards 2026 red carpet, we also saw plenty of menswear…Sinners. Lots of weirdly informal looks, miscalculated swerves, sloppily tailored jacket sleeves, and cornily conspicuous wrist shots. Even Chalamet, in a custom Givenchy white tuxedo, biffed it, opting for laughably baggy trousers and clunky matching boots. Historically, the Oscars is tinseltown’s most formal event—the dress code is black-tie, and it’s one of the few hallowed carpets we have left. After a marathon awards season, it’s finally Oscars night. The red carpet for the 98th Academy Awards is officially underway, which means in just a few short hours we’ll know the answers to all of Hollywood’s most pressing questions (non-Warner-acquisition edition): Will Timothée Chalamet earn the Oscar he’s worked so relentlessly hard for, or will Michael B. When it comes to formalwear, nailing the shoe choice is always a challenge. A brown lace-up or a boat shoe may tank your nice blue suit; a two-toned Oxford may read too twee if you’re trying to look suave. After a banner year for the loafer, your pennies might be looking a tad too busted to pair with a bowtie. But there’s a fun new-ish silhouette in the mix—the black-tie opera pump—that’s really been sticking the landing as of late. Colman Domingo stepped out in the opera pump—the dressier brother of the men’s ballet flat (don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it)—this week when he attended the New York Theatre Workshop Gala, an undeniably dressy affair. As an honoree that evening, Domingo arrived in an appropriately dandy-ish outfit: ballooned pleated trousers, a long tuxedo jacket, and shiny Valentino opera pumps. This awards season has been relentless (doesn’t the Golden Globes feel like a decade ago?), but we’re in the homestretch now. Refreshingly, Sunday night’s 2026 Actor Awards—formerly known as the SAG Awards—shook up the race, with the Screen Actors Guild giving big prizes to the Americana-horror drama Sinners and its star, Michael B. Jordan. Jordan was also one of the best-dressed men of the evening, looking very much like a winner in his sharp, double-breasted gray suit from Haider Ackermann’s Tom Ford. There was also some fun risk-taking: Heated Rivalry breakout Connor Storrie (who more or less walked right onto the carpet from a cross-country flight after his Saturday Night Live hosting debut) paired his no-shirt suit from Saint Laurent with a sparkly Tiffany & Co. choker and Matrix sunglasses. Sander, who has worked as Skarsgård’s stylist for the past two years, says the idea for his no-tie red-carpet look emerged midway through a fitting with Dior, before the brand’s representatives completed an ensemble with a necktie. Before the tie, “it looked smart and effortless, which is what we wanted,” Sander recalls. Indeed, just weeks into awards season, Skarsgård has heeded a chest-forward approach several times already this month.
