MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the family of an Alabama man who died after police shocked him with a Taser multiple times in 2023. U.S. District Court Judge Kristi K. DuBose on Tuesday dismissed a wrongful death and excessive force lawsuit filed against the city of Mobile and two police officers. At the conclusion of the case, the federal court unsealed the body camera footage, which had not been previously released to the public. Jawan Dallas, 36, died on July 2, 2023, after he was shocked while police were trying to detain him. His death prompted protests in Mobile. Dubose wrote that a medical examiner found that Dallas primarily died from “acute myocardial ischemia and cardiorespiratory failure caused by mixed drug toxicity – including toxicity from the presence of methamphetamine.” “Unfortunately, Mr. Dallas died from a heart attack approximately twenty minutes after he was handcuffed,” DuBose wrote. The FBI raid that took place late last month was executed under a judicial warrant and resulted in troves of ballots from the 2020 election being taken into federal custody. Information related to the warrant including the affidavit must be unsealed by Tuesday, which could provide new details into the government’s interest in obtaining the ballots. As the It Ends With Us legal battle continues, newly unsealed text messages from Jenny Slate have revealed her true thoughts on Justin Baldoni while filming the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling book. On Tuesday, a transcript of Slate’s deposition, held on Sept. 26, 2025, in New York, for Blake Lively‘s ongoing case against Baldoni was unsealed, along with other evidence and documents. During the deposition, several of the actress’ texts were read aloud, and she addressed on-set issues working with Baldoni and Wayfarer producer Jamey Heath. Slate played Allysa, Baldoni’s onscreen sister, in It Ends With Us, which he also directed, in addition to playing Ryle Kincaid. A federal indictment charging Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, his wife and four other people with narco-terrorism conspiracy and other charges was unsealed and posted online by U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi on Saturday morning after the couple’s dramatic capture by American forces in their own country. “For over 25 years, leaders of Venezuela have abused their positions of public trust and corrupted once-legitimate institutions to import tons of cocaine into the United States,” the indictment alleges. The indictment was filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan. In addition to Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, the indictment also charges Maduro’s son, Nicolas Ernesto Maduoro Guerra, Diosado Cabello Rondon, Ramon Rodriguez Chachin, and Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores.
