‘Brilliant Minds,’ ‘Stumble’ Canceled at NBC

‘Brilliant Minds,’ ‘Stumble’ Canceled at NBC

NBC has canceled two shows — Brilliant Minds and Stumble — as it heads toward its upfront presentation. Medical drama Brilliant Minds, starring Zachary Quinto, will end after two seasons. NBC earlier this year pulled the show from its post-Olympics schedule; its final episodes will run during the summer, beginning May 27. The comedy Stumble, a mockumentary about a college cheer squad and its coach (Jenn Lyon), is done after a single season. Its final episode aired in March. Both shows were among NBC’s least watched scripted series of the season. With seven days of linear viewing (i.e., before streaming), Brilliant Minds averaged just above 3 million viewers, a smaller total than any other drama on the network this season. Stumble, meanwhile, came in at 2.24 million viewers. NBC still has three shows waiting to hear word on their status for the 2026-27 season: dramas Law & Order and The Hunting Party and first-year comedy The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. NBC also ordered eight pilots — a higher than usual number for recent years …

CBS Picks Up ‘Eternally Yours’ Vampire Comedy for 2026-27

CBS Picks Up ‘Eternally Yours’ Vampire Comedy for 2026-27

CBS is adding a comedy to its lineup for the 2026-27 season. The network has given a series order to Eternally Yours, a show about a family of vampires. The series comes from Ghosts showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman and CBS Studios. CBS also announced that it’s not going forward with a second comedy pilot, The Tillbrooks, a multicamera comedy starring Rhys Darby and Kate Walsh from creator Tara Hernandez. The single-camera Eternally Yours stars Ed Weeks (The Mindy Project) and Allegra Edwards (Upload) as “a vampire couple whose once-passionate romance has devolved into a pulseless marriage after 500 years together,” as the show’s description puts it. “Living in present-day Seattle with their oddball coven, they’ve settled into an eternal rut — until their daughter’s (Helen J. Shen) earnest human boyfriend (Jaren Lewison) unexpectedly enters their lives and forces them to confront whether their love can survive forever … or if forever is a life sentence.” The cast also includes Parker Young, Rose Abdoo, Tristan Michael Brown and Shylo Molina. Eternally Yours is the first half-hour addition …

Every Network TV Show Renewal and Cancellation in 2026

Every Network TV Show Renewal and Cancellation in 2026

After a rebound season last year, the big four broadcast networks have largely stayed the course in 2025-26. Stability is the play across the big four broadcasters (as it has been for quite some time), and that doesn’t look to change too much going into 2026-27. One thing that did change this year: Sports programming has begun taking up more real estate in primetime, with NBC giving Tuesdays and post-NFL season Sundays to the NBA (to be followed by baseball in the spring and summer), ABC making Monday Night Football more or less a permanent feature of its fall lineup and Fox continuing to devote two nights (Friday and Saturday) to sports year round. That means less space for comedies, dramas and unscripted shows, which could squeeze some marginally performing series out. On the other hand, NBC is also leading a small-scale revival of pilot season this year, suggesting the network is open to adding more scripted shows to its roster. New(ish) Paramount CEO David Ellison has also talked up the importance of linear networks …

Taye Diggs Producing a Microdrama for Lifetime

Taye Diggs Producing a Microdrama for Lifetime

Lifetime is entering the microdrama game with a series tied to one of its upcoming original movies. The show is called Tides of Temptation, and it counts Taye Diggs among its executive producers. The microdrama will be a digital offshoot/world expansion for the cable network’s movie Terry McMillan Presents: Paradise With You, starring and exec produced by Diggs. The microdrama and the movie — one of three coming to Lifetime’s “Love of a Lifetime” film franchise — were part of Lifetime’s announcements at A+E Global Media’s upfront presentation Wednesday. Diggs is executive producing Tides of Temptation with Autumn Frederici, Shelby Stone and Jake Helgren of The Ninth House (which is also behind Paradise With You). The microdrama, shot for vertical video and with very short episodes, will follow a young woman (Mea Wilkerson) who falls for an athlete (Q Stenline, aka SwagBoyQ) on the Caribbean island of Nevis. Troy Brookins (who’s also a co-producer) and David John Craig also star. Gary and Edmund Entin direct, from a script by Nanea Miyata with a story by …
