Iranian state media has warned that the UAE will “pay the price” if the country is found to have committed “hostile actions” in connection with explosions at Bahman Pier. Explosions have been reported in the city of Bandar Abbas as well as the island of Qeshm, according to the Fars and Mehr news agencies. Bandar Abbas is to the north of the Strait of Hormuz, while Qeshm is an island in the vital waterway. The Tasnim news agency also reported that three US Navy destroyers near the Strait have been targeted by the Iranian navy. State media previously said they came under fire following an attack by the US military on an Iranian oil tanker. The Tasnim news agency also reported that “some sources” said the explosions in Bandar Abbas were related to defence systems engaging with two small drones. “If this matter is confirmed, the UAE will pay the price for its hostile act”, it said.
