20th Anniversary iPhone’s ‘Liquid Glass’ Display to Make Bezels Vanish

20th Anniversary iPhone’s ‘Liquid Glass’ Display to Make Bezels Vanish

Apple’s 20th-anniversary iPhone will use a new type of curved screen technology that more effectively hides the display bezels from the user’s line of sight for a purer viewing experience, claims a Chinese leaker. Apple is reportedly planning a radical redesign for the 20th-anniversary iPhone that could feature a display that curves around all four edges of the device. To achieve this, Apple will reportedly use an equal-depth quad-curved panel supplied by Samsung, and it sounds like it’s going to be quite different from typical curved screens. According to leaker Ice Universe, “It is not a traditional quad curved display, nor is it anything like the curved screen solutions we have seen on Android phones over the years.” This is said to be down to its extremely subtle curvature, but there are apparently other factors that could come into play. “What truly creates the visual impact may be a sophisticated combination of optical refraction, light guiding structures, and carefully engineered visual illusion,” said Ice Universe, writing in a post on X. “The end result could …

Google’s Gemini can now run on a single air-gapped server — and vanish when you pull the plug

Google’s Gemini can now run on a single air-gapped server — and vanish when you pull the plug

Cirrascale Cloud Services today announced it has expanded its partnership with Google Cloud to deliver the Gemini model on-premises through Google Distributed Cloud, making it the first neocloud provider to offer Google’s most advanced AI model as a fully private, disconnected appliance. The announcement, timed to coincide with Google Cloud Next 2026 in Las Vegas, addresses a stubborn problem that has plagued regulated industries since the generative AI boom began: how to access frontier-class AI models without surrendering control of your data. The offering packages Gemini into a Dell-manufactured, Google-certified hardware appliance equipped with eight Nvidia GPUs and wrapped in confidential computing protections. Enterprises and government agencies can deploy the system inside Cirrascale’s data centers or their own facilities, fully disconnected from the internet and from Google’s cloud infrastructure. The product enters preview immediately, with general availability expected in June or July. In an exclusive interview with VentureBeat ahead of the announcement, Dave Driggers, CEO of Cirrascale Cloud Services, described the deployment as “the next step of the partnership” and “being able to offer their …

Trump announces probe into mysterious deaths after 11 scientists vanish | US | News

Amy Eskridge, 34, allegedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot (Image: Facebook via The Mail) A young anti-gravity scientist was discovered dead after stating her life could be at risk, marking another case amongst a series of mysterious deaths and disappearances in recent years, with US President Donald Trump confirming officials are examining the incidents. Amy Eskridge, 34, reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in Huntsville, Alabama on June 11, 2022. Neither police nor medical examiners have publicly disclosed any details of an investigation into her death. Amy was researching and attempting to develop anti-gravity technology, an achievement which could revolutionise space travel and energy production. In 2020, Amy stated that she was preparing to present groundbreaking foundational work concerning antigravity but needed authorisation from NASA. Following her death, an interview has surfaced in which Amy herself, alongside independent findings submitted to Congress, asserted that the death was not a suicide but rather a murder conspiracy, the Mirror reported. United States President Donald Trump speaks to the press before departs at the …

Growing mystery as pictures of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry at high-profile Netflix event vanish

A beaming Prince Harry and Meghan Markle looked perfectly loved-up in pictures taken at a Netflix event at the weekend.  The Sussexes were among the high-profile guests attending the streaming giant’s BEEF Season 2 Montecito Tastemaker event, held at a private residence in their hometown of Montecito, California.  But just days later – and as they begin a whirlwind tour of Australia – official photographs of the couple appear to have been taken down.  On Friday night, dozens of stunning photographs of the couple were uploaded to Getty Images, which provides stock photos and event photography to media outlets around the world. Wearing a stunning chartreuse Heidi Merrick gown and Jimmy Choo heels, Meghan was seen embracing Nicole Avant, wife of Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, and posing for snaps with Harry.  But now only one picture of Meghan and Harry remains on Getty, which provided the event’s official photography. It shows the couple with Ted and Nicole, who is holding hands with Meghan. Meghan is also seen in the background of a wide-angle shot.  Pictures …

Astronomers observe a massive star vanish and turn into a black hole

Astronomers observe a massive star vanish and turn into a black hole

In the nearby Andromeda Galaxy, a massive star bright enough to stand out for years has gone dark. Not in a blaze of glory. Not in a supernova that would briefly outshine its entire galaxy. It just faded. The object, known as M31-2014-DS1, sits about 2.5 million light-years away in M31. Kishalay De of the Simons Foundation’s Flatiron Institute led the effort to track what happened. The team pulled together data from NASA’s NEOWISE mission and a long list of ground and space telescopes, combing through observations from 2005 to 2023. Their findings were published February 12 in Science. At first, nothing seemed catastrophic. In 2014, the star brightened in mid-infrared light by about 50 percent over two years. Then the trend reversed. By 2016 it had dimmed below its original level. The decline did not stop. By 2023, it had effectively vanished in visible light. Artist draws vast, intricate designs on snow, then watches them vanish

Some art forms endure for centuries — but Simon Beck’s work is, by its nature, temporary. For two decades, Beck has been using his feet to make intricate designs in fresh snow and on beaches. A former mapmaker, Beck designs many of the drawings ahead of time on paper. Then he spends 12 hours alone with a compass, walking in snowshoes to create complex patterns. Some designs resemble snowflakes, stars or flowers. Others include messages or peace signs. Source link

Star that seemed to vanish more than 130 years ago is found again

Star that seemed to vanish more than 130 years ago is found again

An image captured by a telescope at the Grasslands Observatory in Arizona. The “x” is where E. E. Barnard saw his mystery star Tim Hunter et al. (2025) A star that was spotted in 1892 by one of the most gifted astronomical observers of all time but then apparently vanished has been found again – right where he lost it. Edward Emerson Barnard was an accomplished astronomer, famous for his discovery in 1892 of a fifth moon of Jupiter, Amalthea, almost three centuries after Galileo Galilei saw the first four. But a few weeks earlier, he had made an enigmatic observation that kept bothering him. A short article he published about it in a journal in 1906 was headlined “An unexplained observation“. What he thought he saw was a star, close to Venus on a morning he had pointed his telescope at that planet, hoping to discover satellites. He estimated its brightness as 7th magnitude, according to the scale astronomers use, where dimmer objects get a higher number. On a dark night, someone with good …
