The FCC Received Hundreds of Complaints About Bad Bunny’s ‘Vulgar’ Super Bowl Performance

Even before Bad Bunny took to the field, his Super Bowl halftime performance drew controversy, especially from MAGA influencers upset over the Puerto Rican star’s comments against Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the fact that he sings in Spanish. Following the performance, which was watched by more than 128 million people, those complaints continued—but they were largely focused on perceived vulgarity in the artist’s performance. Following a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from WIRED, the Federal Communications Commission, which regulates communications including broadcast, released 2,155 complaints the agency received about the Super Bowl, most of which were about the halftime show. Many of the complaints focused on the fact that the show was not in English, but a chunk of those people were upset about indecency in the Spanish lyrics. Others expressed discomfort with the dancing they saw onscreen. “Bad Bunny performed these lyrics live without apparent censorship,” wrote one viewer from Leighton, Alabama. “Dancers engaged in perreo-intense grinding, hip thrusting, and twerking simulating sexmirroring the lyrics [sic]. The country singer, 30, deactivated his X and Instagram accounts after a longtime fan shared a video of an awkward moment from last weekend in Mississippi. In the video posted Wednesday, the fan — whose name is Logan — approaches Bryan and asks for a picture while the musician drives a truck with the windows down. However, Bryan began talking before Logan approached him, and appeared to quote Netflix’s sketch comedy show I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson by shouting something about a “c**shot.” Logan could be heard gasping in the video and shared in the caption of the video: “I gotten there really early to be at the gates and saw him as I was walking up. Iranians have a vulgar nickname for Starmer

Iranians have a vulgar nickname for Starmer

Many British voters have had a few choice words for Sir Keir Starmer – but in Iran, the Prime Minister is unable to avoid a rather unfortunate nickname. To millions of Persian speakers, his first name sounds remarkably similar to a vulgar term for a penis. The word کیر – transliterated as “kir” – is one of the language’s most commonly used obscenities. The linguistic similarity, long noted by Iranian diaspora communities, has sparked a wave of mockery on social media since the outbreak of the Iran war. Sir Keir’s perceived passivity during escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf has given Iranian users fresh ammunition, and they have used his name as a punchline for their criticism. “From his name, you can tell what kind of man he is,” one user wrote on X. While the joke predates the Iran war, the volume increased in the past month, and peaked this week when Sir Keir declared that Britain would not take part in any blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The Prime Minister’s widely shared …

Claude Leak Shows That Anthropic Is Tracking Users’ Vulgar Language and Deems Them “Negative”

Sign up to see the future, today Can’t-miss innovations from the bleeding edge of science and tech AI company Anthropic suffered a massive leak of the source code to its Claude Code AI assistant earlier this week, triggering a panicked game of cat and mouse as company representatives sent out copyright takedown requests targeting thousands of copies of its pilfered work. The code allowed tinkerers to reverse engineer aspects of the blockbuster chatbot, highlighting concerns that the leak could give Anthropic’s competitors a major leg up. The leak also gave eyebrow-raising clues into upcoming or experimental efforts, including unreleased AI models and a “Tamagotchi”-like feature, called “buddy,” that “sits beside your input box and reacts to your coding.” Perhaps the strangest yet: code snippets also showed that Anthropic is actively tracking how often users are using vulgar language. “Claude Code has a regex that detects wtf,’ “ffs”, “piece of s***”, “f*** you”, “this sucks” etc.” tweeted developer Rahat Chowdhury. “It doesn’t change behavior… it just silently logs is_negative: true to analytics.” “Anthropic is tracking how …
