Trump’s annual financial disclosure show millions in crypto income

President Donald Trump’s annual financial disclosure report was released on Tuesday by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, revealing income of hundreds of millions of dollars from proceeds of crypto tokens and holdings of hundreds of individual company stocks. Trump’s disclosure report for 2025, which was the first year of his second non-consecutive term in the White House, totals 927 pages. The report reveals that Trump’s crypto-related income included about $515 million from the sale of tokens released by the firm World Liberty Financial, and $65 million from sales of equity in WLF’s holding company. WLF is the Trump-linked crypto company co-founded by members of his family that issues the WLFI governance token and USD1 stablecoin. Trump, who first made his name in business with real estate developments in New York, also disclosed that he received $635 million in royalties from what were described as “Celebration Coins.” It was not immediately clear what those coins are. The Bloomberg news service reported that the royalties were related to CIC Digital LLC, Trump’s memecoin business. Trump’s golf …

Yared “and his team of ‘Brainiacs’ at the CEA have worked around the clock to Make America WEALTHY Again — with Great Success!” Trump wrote. “I want to thank Pierre for his terrific service to our Country, and wish him and his wonderful family all of the best for a healthy and happy future.” Yared has held the title of Professor of International Business for the economics division of Columbia Business School, which he joined in 2007, according to the …

Apollo’s Athene names ex-Goldman executive as Japan head to drive reinsurance push

TOKYO, July 1 : Athene, the insurance business of Apollo Global Management, has appointed Larik Hall as head of Japan, as the U.S. asset manager ramps up operations in the country, according to a company document reviewed by Reuters. Hall, previously a managing director at Goldman Sachs Ayco, will lead efforts to expand Athene’s reinsurance business with life insurers in Japan. He has also held roles at firms including AIG and MassMutual. Apollo declined to comment. Athene did its first Japan transaction in 2020 and has since reinsured $20 billion in assets across eight transactions, including a block reinsurance transaction with Sony Life Insurance. Apollo sees the Japan market as a priority and is seeking to buy a life insurer to write business directly, the Financial Times reported earlier this month. Source link

Disneyland to offer $59 evening tickets next month

The one-day, one-park evening ticket offer will allow attendees to enter Disney California Adventure at 5 p.m. or Disneyland at 7 p.m. Park reservations are still required, as has been the case since the COVID-19 pandemic. The offer only applies for admission from July 12 through Aug. 5 on Sundays to Wednesdays. Walt Disney Co.’s theme parks and experiences business are a crucial boost to its finances, making up about 56% of the company’s operating income last fiscal year. During the Burbank-based company’s most recent earnings call in May, Disney executives said attendance at its U.S.-based parks was down 1% compared with the prior year, a shift they attributed to “continued softness” in international visitations. However, the company said at the time that it was starting to move past …

What the Supreme Court rulings mean for Trump

What the Supreme Court rulings mean for Trump

This is an edition of The Atlantic Daily, a newsletter that guides you through the biggest stories of the day, helps you discover new ideas, and recommends the best in culture. Sign up for it here. This week, the Supreme Court handed down the final seven opinions of its term. The rulings paint a complicated picture; some broadly affirm the president’s executive power, and others seem to rebuff his agenda. Today, the justices struck down the executive order that sought to end birthright citizenship for the children of noncitizens—but the vote was in some ways far closer than expected. In today’s newsletter, The Atlantic’s staff writer Quinta Jurecic breaks down the decisions. Will Gottsegen: What surprised you most about the Supreme Court’s decisions this week? Quinta Jurecic: The big-ticket items were Trump v. Slaughter and Trump v. Cook, which involved the president’s ability to fire Senate-confirmed leadership at independent agencies. And in those cases, the Court ruled that the president does have a very wide-ranging ability to fire, under a theory that is known as …

Morgan Stanley cut its riskiest reconciliation job in half — by making its agents less autonomous

Morgan Stanley cut its riskiest reconciliation job in half — by making its agents less autonomous

Most enterprise AI deployments so far have focused on coding assistants and customer service bots. Morgan Stanley has deployed agents in one of banking’s most accuracy-critical, deadline-driven workflows instead — profit and loss (P&L) reconciliation — and cut the work in half. The counterintuitive part: it got there by making the system less autonomous, not more. Humans stay tightly in the loop, and their decisions are iteratively turned into repeatable rules the system can apply on its own. “It’s much more like a co-worker than a copilot,” Morgan Stanley Managing Director Todd Johnson said at a recent VB AI Impact event. The internal production agentic system, known as FIXR, goes beyond simple, straightforward “gen AI 1.0” tasks. “We think that’s where the opportunity is to really unlock more complex work in the organization.” FIXR behind the scenes Every trading day, Morgan Stanley’s trade desks handle the important work around transactions such as cash equities or debt investments.  And, at the end of each of those days, controllers must reconcile P&L across the finance giant’s Finance, …

Lady Marina Windsor Made Her Tiara the Center of Her Wedding Look

Lady Marina Windsor Made Her Tiara the Center of Her Wedding Look

It is believed that the diamond and pearl fringes on the current piece came from a tiara owned by Louise of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and the Duchess of Argyll, who died childless, leaving part of her treasure to her nephew, Prince George, husband of Marina of Kent. The tiara, in its new design, was a hallmark of Katharine of Kent’s life as a duchess, as she wore it from the late 1990s through the early 2000s, when she gradually decided to step back from her royal duties. Lady Marina Windsor is the second bride to choose the tiara in its current, combined form. Before her, it adorned the ensemble of Lady Helen, the second daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Kent—and thus the bride’s aunt—when she married her husband, Tim Taylor, in 1992. Lady Marina Windsor is the daughter of George Windsor, Earl of St. Andrews, and Sylvana Tomaselli, an academic of Italian-Canadian descent who had been previously married. Because Tomaselli was a divorcee, she married George …

The “women are better multitaskers” stereotype is messier than you think

The “women are better multitaskers” stereotype is messier than you think

In a TikTok video that has racked up 1.4 million likes, men are handed scissors and a sheet of paper and asked to cut out a Christmas tree while describing their favorite memory with their partner. The men start telling a story, but most trail off as they concentrate on the cutting. In another clip, a woman calmly juggles four different chores while her husband struggles to put on socks and hold a conversation simultaneously.  These videos are designed to make you laugh. But they also reflect and reinforce the idea that women are better multitaskers than men. Studies putting this stereotype to the test have yielded very mixed results. Yet the idea that there is a gender difference in the ability to multitask remains lodged in the public mind. Researchers think there are various reasons why the stereotype persists.  Multitasking under the microscope Science is clear on one thing: multitasking is incredibly difficult. The human brain has evolved to single-task. “We can do things at the same time when they are highly automatized, but …
