At the Outcome premiere in New York City Monday Night, rising star Cary Christopher shared a sweet memory from working with Martin Scorsese on the new Apple TV film.
The dark comedy — co-written and directed by Jonah Hill — follows Keanu Reeves’s character, Reef Hawk, a famous actor who has to confront his “hidden demons” after he is blackmailed with a video that could end his career.
“I knew he was a legendary director and he was giving me a list of his movies like Raging Bull, Taxi Driver,” Christopher, 10, told The Independent on the red carpet.
“Then he was like, ‘You probably can’t watch any of those quite yet, but there is this one movie I directed called Hugo [the 2011 family-friendly film],’” the young actor recalled. “A couple days later, in the mail, I received a copy of Hugo on Blu-ray from his office, which is really crazy.”
Working alongside major stars, including Outcome cast members Scorsese, Keanu Reeves, Jonah Hill and Cameron Diaz, is nothing new for the young actor. In addition to the forthcoming film, Christopher has starred in Weapons and received an Emmy nomination for his work on Days of Our Lives.
Still, he’s taking note of how these A-listers work on-camera.
“I noticed they’re just always grounded and always in the moment, which is really good, I think, for everyone,” Christopher said of his Outcome co-stars.
In addition to Christopher, Scorsese, Reeves, Hill, and Diaz, the cast includes Matt Bomer, Laverne Cox, Kaia Gerber, Susan Lucci, David Spade, Atsuko Okatsuka, Ivy Wolk and Roy Wood Jr.
While the release of Outcome — filmed nearly two years ago and slated for release April 10 on Apple TV — was delayed, Christopher kept busy. He recently wrapped his time on Days of Our Lives and is slated to appear in the forthcoming MGM+ series Spider-Noir — in addition to last year’s Weapons.

Asked about his time working on the film with its Oscar-winning star Amy Madigan, Christopher told The Independent that the cast “were all just really welcoming people.”
“Because they knew it was a horror movie and I was nine when it was shooting, when there was a horror effect they would show me how it works, which is really amazing,” he said.
While he admitted to having some anxiety around shooting the scary film, Christopher said: “It ended up actually being kind of funny to see the horror effects.”
