GIZA, Egypt, May 23 : Ukraine’s unbeaten heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk stopped Dutch former kickboxer Rico Verhoeven with one second left in the penultimate round of a WBC title fight on Saturday to avoid one of the greatest boxing upsets of all time. The ‘Glory in Giza’ fight at the Pyramids of Egypt was considered a mismatch, but Verhoeven, whose sole previous professional boxing fight was 12 years ago, tore up the script in mind-boggling fashion from the opening bell. It took until the fourth for Usyk to have a round that was clearly his, but the champion was unable to capitalise on it with the bigger and heavier Verhoeven still taking the fight to him. With Usyk tipping the scales heavier than ever before, and looking strangely lethargic at times, the 39-year-old Ukrainian went into the penultimate round needing to pull something out of the bag to be sure of a win most had taken for granted. MANCHESTER, England, May 9 : Daniel Dubois came back from two knockdowns to deal Fabio Wardley a brutal and bloody first defeat as a professional and take the WBO heavyweight title in a thunderous all-British clash on Saturday. Referee Howard Foster finally stepped in at the start of the 11th round to signal the end of the fight with Wardley bleeding heavily from the bridge of the nose and with his right eye almost closed. Dubois rose twice from the canvas, including being dropped by a right hook in the first 10 seconds of the fight, to pulverise Wardley and become a world heavyweight champion for the second time in his career. “It was a war. We came through the sticky moments. Thank you Fabio for that,” said Dubois, who was previously IBF champion after the belt was vacated by Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, with the Ukrainian winning it back in July 2025. “What a great fight. The Prince and Princess of Wales have delighted royal fans by releasing a brand new photograph of Princess Charlotte to celebrate her 11th birthday on Saturday. The beautiful new portrait shows the young royal looking remarkably grown up as she posed outdoors in a field of daisies, shot in stunning Cornwall.  Flashing a radiant smile for the camera, the birthday girl looked effortlessly stylish, wearing a striped red and black knitted jumper over the top of a blue collared shirt and some dark blue jeans. Her brunette hair hung long down past her shoulders.  As has become a beloved tradition for the Wales family, the photograph was taken by Matt Porteous over Easter. Authorities have discovered a possible piece of evidence after they expanded their search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show star Savannah Guthrie, following her disappearance on February 1.  The FBI shared an update on X on Wednesday, detailing that they were searching the roadways near Nancy’s home in Tucson, Arizona, and asking passersby to be aware of the operation. “This morning, numerous FBI agents are conducting an extensive search along multiple roadways in the Catalina Foothills area related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation,” the post read.  “We are asking the media and motorists to follow all traffic laws and to remain cautious when passing law enforcement personnel near the roadways.”  © Getty ImagesThe FBI has expanded the search surrounding Nancy’s home Authorities have also continued their search in the neighborhood of Nancy’s daughter, Annie Guthrie, who lives just four miles away with her husband, Tomasso Cioni.  The news comes  a day after footage was released by the FBI of an individual outside Nancy’s home in the early hours of February 1, around …

Artes Mundi, a UK-based art organization, has given the 11th Artes Mundi Award to Peruvian artist Antonio Paucar. He will receive £40,000 towards his performance, sculpture, and video practice, which draws on Andean culture and his Peruvian heritage. The ceremony was held at Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum in Cardiff on January 15. In an interview with the Art Newspaper, Paucar said he intends to use the funds to convert his family’s home in the central highlands of Peru into a combined museum and art school.
