Laurent Simons is only 15, but he is already moving toward a goal that could shape the rest of his life. He wants to help people live longer and stay healthier. So far, that path has taken him through a PhD in quantum physics and into medical science, where he is now focusing on artificial intelligence. He does not describe that mission in dramatic terms. Instead, Simons talks about it like someone studying a system that has not been solved yet. “The way I look at death is as a huge puzzle with many pieces from many different fields, including biology, medicine, engineering, and physics, that haven’t been assembled yet,” said Simons. “My mission is to help put all of those pieces together.” That outlook grew from something personal. A body has been found in the search for missing 15-year-old Taylor Charlton. Police were called at 4.20pm on Wednesday to the River Taw near Sticklepath in Barnstaple, Devon, after suspected human remains were seen in the water. Taylor, from Barnstaple, who was 14 at the time he went missing, was last seen on the night of 8 May and there was an extensive police operation to find him. June 24 : Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the 15-year-old who is on track to become the youngest player to represent India, cannot share a dressing room with his older teammates due to safeguarding laws during upcoming Twenty20 matches in Ireland and England. Safeguarding protocols mandated by global cricket body ICC and the United Kingdom, enforced by the England and Wales Cricket Board and Cricket Ireland, prohibit players under 16 from using adult dressing rooms. Bobby Bloomfield, 12, has been named in touching tributes paid following the tragic collision on Sunday. Emergency services were called to Ashwells Road on Sunday where Bobby was found with serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital for immediate treatment but sadly later died. A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a teacher was attacked, police have said. The assault happened at a school in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Dyfed-Powys Police said. Officers said they responded to a report on Thursday afternoon that a teacher had been assaulted by a pupil. They said the teacher was injured, but it was not a stab injury. They have since been discharged from hospital. Superintendent Chris Neve said: “We can confirm police are at Milford Haven Comprehensive School following a report of the assault of a teacher by a pupil brandishing a weapon at the school at approx 3.20pm. “The teacher’s injury is not a stab injury. A lockdown was implemented but has now been lifted.” Supt Neve added that “all pupils at the location are safe and most have gone home”. Officers remained at the school.
