Thanks to Dior, polka dot shoes are flirty spring trend we’re crushing on

Thanks to Dior, polka dot shoes are flirty spring trend we’re crushing on

Sick to death of polka dots? Unmoved by their whimsy girlishness and Scandi-approved allure? Well, you wouldn’t be alone. What emerged in 2025 as a playful, feminine fad quickly spiralled into full-blown micro-trend mania – with the hot spots coming to saturate both the runway and high street with serious gusto. However, you may have to wait a little while longer until these preppy polkas exit the scene – because according to Jonathan Anderson – they aren’t going anywhere.  The Irish designer has once again whipped up a sartorial storm, courtesy of his autumn/winter 2026 womenswear collection for Dior. His penchant for kitsch motifs translated beautifully from his Loewe tenure – ceramic lilypad-topped footwear, tutu skirts that culminated in trumpeted foxglove tendrils, silver-trimmed frog coin purses, unorthodox shape play and frothy layers of deconstructed lace coexisted alongside the iconic Bar Jacket silhouette, ornate lamé fabrics and gently-puffed balloon trousers. Yet, it was another whimsical design that piqued the interest of his loyal fashion following – polka dot pumps. Embossed with a petite brand logo along …

There’s nothing quite like slipping into a cute pair of panties to help pull your life together when everything else is falling apart. Sure, the world is on fire and our newsfeeds have never looked bleaker – but it’s nothing the petal-soft touch of a new thong can’t sweeten. Facetiousness aside, the power of new underwear is underestimated. Whether you’re a lace love or silk connoisseur, lingerie offers the ultimate boost of self-confidence when we’re feeling a little low which, considering the climate, is a rather frequent occurence. © @nicolaannepeltzbeckhamNicola Peltz Beckham wearing a pair of slogan pants Enter an unlikely hero – Nicola Peltz Beckham. While the media continues to pick apart the heiress’ tumultuous relationship with her in-laws, our attention fell to her wardrobe. Last week, the 31-year-old took to social media to debut a new summer-ready look – a broderie anglaise babydoll dress peppered with crocheted strawberry motifs and polka dots by Frankies Bikinis. The brand’s Coppola Dress was coolly styled with a pair of white cotton embroidered undies, emblazoned with the …

Can desert boots ever be chic? We fashion editors say yes – here’s how to style them

Can desert boots ever be chic? We fashion editors say yes – here’s how to style them

Anti-chic shoes are hot stuff. We’re talking stomp-worthy, platformed pillowy kicks that strike fear in the hearts of ballet pump lovers everywhere.  The past few seasons have placed ‘ugly-chic’ footwear front and centre of the style radar – with Margiela Tabi’s still reigning supreme alongside finger shoes, platform clogs, and leopard print Crocs. One silhouette we did not expect to bounce back with gusto? The humble desert boot. Characterised by a suede construction, a rounded toe, a crepe rubber base and an ankle length shape, desert boots have divided the fashion set since World War II, when soldiers wore them during desert campaigns.  © @deborabrosaDesert boots are perfect for festival season Inspired by the South African ‘velskoen’ boot, the design was later popularised by Clarks, whose Desert Trek and Desert Boot designs became iconic. Showcasing a rugged, earthy aesthetic that prioritised function over fashion, desert boots were adopted by the counterculture, becoming a staple piece among mod groups and within Jamaican reggae culture, a movement beloved by stars like Steve McQueen and Bob Dylan. Brace yourself – wedge sneakers are back on the scene

Brace yourself – wedge sneakers are back on the scene

Fashion is inherently nostalgic. We often look back in order to look forward – it’s how trends are born. So far, 2026 has witnessed the return of the peacoat, Topshop’s epic comeback and the tutu skirt renaissance. There are even whispers of the skinny jean revival. Cue the Neyo hits and glimmering blue eyeshadow. The latest item to unearth itself from the sartorial archives? The wedge sneaker – one of the most divisive styles to emerge from the industry’s shoewear department. Let me take you back to 2012. French house Isabel Marant debuts the iconic Bekett Sneaker, defined by a suede exterior, an incorporated wedged heel, a high top silhouette and velcro-strap detailing. Within months, the kicks have been worn by stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Kendall Jenner, Lindsay Lohan and, perhaps most famously, Beyoncé – who sported a pair for her Love On Top music video. Zendaya even took to Instagram sporting an off-white pair, visible beneath a grainy, old-school Valencia Instagram filter.  © GettyLindsay Lohan wearing wedge sneakers in 2012 Considering Gen Z’s …

Floral boots are the whimsy spring trend we didn’t know we needed

Floral boots are the whimsy spring trend we didn’t know we needed

Florals for spring – you know the drill. Blossom pink hues, petal silhouettes and foliage detailing bloom right on cue each year when the sun decides to rear its head and thaw the muted palettes of winter.  Yet, one corner of the fashion industry that has remained fairly untouched by the feminine theme is footwear, more specifically, boots.  Floral boots boast a history as vibrant as their aesthetic. In the 18th century, during the frivolous Rococo period, silk jacquard options were favoured by the aristocratic and affluent in France, who adopted the dainty Pompadour heel – an homage to Madame de Pompadour, mistress of King Louis XV. © ValentinoValentino Resort SS26 These curved kicks paved the way for similarly intricate styles worn during the Victorian era, which took place a century or so later. Victorian designers favoured light, ornate aesthetics reminiscent of the Rococo period, yet replaced dated buckle adornments with adjustable lace-up detailing to provide a more functional fit. Either way, the shoes produced from both movements looked like they could have been painted …

Cheltenham Festival: Best dressed guests at the 2026 races

Cheltenham Festival: Best dressed guests at the 2026 races

The British social season is back once again for 2026, and nothing gets us geared up for the festivities ahead quite like the Cheltenham Festival. Racegoers – from royals and racing fanatics to fashion lovers – have been showcasing their race day finery here since 1860, making it one of the most stylish fixtures in the calendar. Today, British heritage style sits at the top of the fashion agenda, with racegoers leaning into timeless tweeds, luxurious outerwear and statement accessories – all perfectly suited to the unpredictable March weather. Think sharply tailored coats, felt fedoras, leather gloves and knee-high boots: practical pieces elevated with plenty of polish. Country lifestyle brand Holland Cooper returns once again as the official ladies’ fashion partner and, for 2026, also makes its debut as the Official Luxury Fashion Partner of The Jockey Club – a fitting collaboration given the brand’s signature blend of countryside elegance and contemporary tailoring. In 2024, festival bosses announced that Ladies Day – traditionally the day that encouraged women to dress to impress – would be …

London was the place to be on Sunday night, with both the 79th British Academy Film Awards and London Fashion Week aligning their schedules to create an electric evening of celebration.  As per usual, the annual awards ceremony welcomed a plethora of star-studded guests, all of whom made sure to dress to impress, with a few notable names making a strong case for new and improved trending aesthetics.
