The state of clean trucking with Joe Annotti

On this really quick episode of Quick Charge, we spend time with TRC Senior Director and ACT Expo co-founder Joe Annotti to talk about the state of clean trucking in 2026, incentive programs, and ever so briefly talk about why Autocar was my favorite OEM at this year’s show. We’ve got a roundup of the best, electric-only ACT Expo 2026 stories in the source links, below, along with one or two extra points Joe and I touched on during the interview. Enjoy! battery swap to the US

battery swap to the US

Honda brought its Mobile Power Pack e: swappable battery system to ACT Expo last week, where the brand announced plans to bring the swap system to market for B2B commercial integrations starting as early as June 2026. Honda has been working on its swappable-battery tech for a while now, showing it off in various applications like the brand’s electric lawn mowers, its electric scooters in Indonesia, and with OEM partnerships with rival brand Yamaha in Japan. Now, Honda says it’s ready to bring the Mobile Power Pack e: to the US market. Once it arrives, Honda will aim its MPP at addressing key friction points with e-mobility adoption such as long charging time, downtime concerns, and high battery costs in the power generation, small-scale construction equipment, agriculture, and material handling spaces. The conceptual diagram below, provided by Honda, illustrates how the same MPP could could be used across those industries. REALLY Quick Charge with Range Energy electric trailers

REALLY Quick Charge with Range Energy electric trailers

On this really quick episode of Quick Charge, we talk to Range Energy Vice President of Product Collin MacGregor about how his electric trailer can help reduce freight costs, support the grid, and more – WITHOUT asking operators to switch trucks. More often than you probably think, the biggest obstacle a fleet faces when choosing to electrify isn’t the high cost of entry or the utility’s ability to provide power. Instead, it’s the operators – the drivers who will be sitting behind the wheel of the fleet’s new trucks, and who don’t want to part with the big diesel rigs they’ve come to know and love. Range Energy has an interim solution that could help fleets save up to 70% on their existing fuel costs, get the fleet’s techs and drivers used to electrification, and provide emergency energy storage at a moment’s notice. If you’ve been paying attention, you already know I’m talking about Range Energy and its battery-powered, e-axle equipped semi truck trailers. The company was at ACT Expo this week, and announced that they’ve …

Toyota announces new hydrogen collab with Nikola fueling spinoff

Toyota announces new hydrogen collab with Nikola fueling spinoff

Toyota and Nikola fueling station spinoff Hyroad have announced that they’re joining farces forces to scale hydrogen-powered transportation with integrated fueling, vehicles, and logistics support throughout Southern California. Toyota Motor North America and Hyroad Energy are partnering to deploy 40 new hydrogen fuel cell Class 8 trucks in Southern California in a bid to advance zero-emission freight and offer more clean trucking solutions to its customers. “Accelerating the hydrogen economy requires collaboration, and Toyota is proud to work with Hyroad to move the heavy-duty sector forward,” explains Jason Zahorik, general manager, Toyota Hydrogen Solutions. “By bringing the critical elements together, we’re demonstrating how fuel cells create tangible value across supply chains while advancing a foundational pillar of the hydrogen economy. With hydrogen, we share a vision for cleaner, more powerful and more energy independent mobility.” The collaboration was announced earlier today at the ACT Expo in Las Vegas, where a Hyroad fueled and wrapped truck is featured at Toyota’s ACT Expo exhibit space. Nivalis buys SolarEdge, bringing solar semi trailers to the US

Nivalis Energy has already established itself as a pioneer in the electric refrigerated trailer space, and their acquisition of the SolarEdge e-Mobility business is going to help them pull ahead even further – with the power of the sun! Nivalis brought their patented TRU-POWER solution to this year’s ACT Expo in Las Vegas, showing off the battery-powered refrigeration trailer they’ve been selling to North American fleets for the past few years. This acquisition, however, significantly expands Nivalis’ potential product line and gives them a quick entry into European markets as well through SolarEdge’s existing EU customer base. The SolarEdge e-Mobility acquisition, which closed on February 11, gives Nivalis access to the company’s engineering and R&D capabilities – including a new 3rd Generation platform that combines rooftop solar panels, an e-axle equipped with regenerative braking technology, and the ability to charge its batteries from the grid to ensure maximum range and autonomy for the reefer trailer. “Refrigerated transport has remained a major diesel-dependent element of the cold chain, and operators are increasingly realizing that electrified refrigeration is …

Elon Musk moves for mistrial in Twitter fraud case because everyone hates him

Elon Musk moves for mistrial in Twitter fraud case because everyone hates him

Elon Musk’s legal team filed a motion for mistrial in the ongoing Twitter securities fraud class action lawsuit in San Francisco, arguing that the plaintiffs’ lawyers and the judge have created an environment where Musk cannot get a fair trial. The 20-page filing, submitted on March 7, explicitly cites “the animosity in the community toward Mr. Musk apparent during jury selection.” The motion comes just days after Musk took the stand in the Pampena v. Musk trial, where shareholders accuse him of deliberately tanking Twitter’s stock price through misleading tweets about bot accounts before completing his $44 billion acquisition in 2022. What the motion actually argues To be clear, this is not a motion to dismiss the case outright. It is a motion for a mistrial — meaning Musk’s lawyers are asking the court to throw out the current trial and start over with a new jury. Musk’s legal team at Quinn Emanuel, led by Alex Spiro, lists five separate grounds for mistrial in the filing: Advertisement – scroll for more content First, the defense …
