Devil Wears Prada 2 Director on Why Adrian Grenier Cameo Didn’t Happen

While the original stars of The Devil Wears Prada, Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt have all returned for the upcoming sequel, the director of the follow-up, David Frankel (who also directed the 2006 original), is explaining why Adrian Grenier, who played Nate, the boyfriend of Hathaway‘s Andy, is not in the film. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Frankel revealed that he initially did consider having the Entourage star reprise his role. “I had an idea about sneaking him into a cameo, and in the end, it was just too late in our production schedule to make it happen,” Frankel told the publication before also noting that the film completed filming less than a month before its slated release date, so there “wasn’t time.” The Hollywood Reporter confirmed in July that Grenier wouldn’t return for the sequel. Months later, the actor eventually opened up about not returning for the second film, calling it a “disappointment,” and claimed that negative public perception of Nate was the reason his character didn’t come …

Adrian Grenier Jokes About Devil Wears Prada 2 in Starbucks Ad

Adrian Grenier has no hard feelings about not being part of The Devil Wears Prada 2. The actor, who appeared in the original 2006 film, has been vocal about his “disappointment” over not being invited to reprise his role of Nate for the long-awaited 2026 follow-up. But in a new ad for Starbucks’ Energy Refreshers, Grenier admits he has no ill will about not being featured in the upcoming film. “You might have seen the headlines — I wasn’t asked to be part of a certain sequel. But I’m good. Really. It’s all good energy,” Grenier says in the ad, after which the camera pans out to see the actor is talking to a Starbucks barista. “So a toast to Nate,” he added, in reference to his Devil Wears Prada character, whom was the chef boyfriend to Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs, the assistant to Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly, the editor-in-chief of fashion magazine Runway. The fictional couple break up in the first film due to Andy’s busy schedule, though they seemingly reconcile at the end. …

Adrian Mole casting revealed for upcoming reboot – and they’ll be familiar to Alan Carr fans

Oliver Savell is set to take on the lead role of Adrian in the BBC’s upcoming reboot of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾. The 10-part series, which is based on Sue Townsend’s best-selling book of the same name, was confirmed in November last year. The BBC also revealed at the time that a nationwide search was under way to find a young actor to take on the lead role – a part famously played by Gian Sammarco in a 1985 adaptation of the novel by Thames TV. Now, The Sun has reported that Savell, who starred as the young Alan Carr in ITV’s autobiographical series Changing Ends, is set to take on the role. An insider told the publication: “Thanks to playing a slightly awkward bespectacled Alan during his schoolboy years on Changing Ends, producers could see he’d fit right into the Mole role.” The BBC declined to provide comment on the story but Radio Times understands this to be true. Adrian Tchaikovsky on Children of Strife: ‘I try and do interesting aliens’

Adrian Tchaikovsky on Children of Strife: ‘I try and do interesting aliens’

Speculative evolution is an “amazing treasure chest of possibilities” – Adrian Tchaikovsky Tom Pepperdine Adrian Tchaikovsky published his first book, the fantasy novel Empire in Black and Gold, in 2008. He turned to science fiction in 2015 with Children of Time, a far-future story of the accelerated evolution of Portia labiate spiders on a terraformed planet far from Earth. It was the first in a series which would go on to win Tchaikovsky prizes including the Arthur C Clarke Award and the British Science Fiction Association Award. Now he divides his writing time between science fiction and fantasy, with the fourth book in the Children of Time series, Children of Strife, out on 26 March. He joined head of books Alison Flood to talk about its protagonist – a human-sized mantis shrimp – and what could have inspired its terrifyingly awful villain. Alison Flood: You studied zoology at university, right? The Children of Time series and its evolved animals feels like the perfect area for you to be writing in… Adrian Tchaikovsky: In all honesty, …

The Devil Wears Prada 2 — which comes out in theaters on May 1 — will follow Anne Hathaway’s fashion journalist Andy Sachs crossing paths once again with Meryl Streep’s formidable fashion editor Miranda Priestly as the pair appear set for a renewed clash inside the fashion world. In the original movie, Grenier played Andy’s long-term boyfriend, Nate. However, speaking to Page Six in a recent interview, he revealed that while he “didn’t get the call” to be in the sequel, he does have a theory as to why. “We’re all fans of the movie, whether or not we’re in it. Obviously, it was a disappointment that I didn’t get the call to be in the sequel, but …

Children of Strife review: Adrian Tchaikovsky’s new Children of Time novel is brilliant

Children of Strife review: Adrian Tchaikovsky’s new Children of Time novel is brilliant

Now imagine this mantis shrimp in a spacesuit, with a taste for weaponry Shutterstock/Samy Kassem The fourth novel in Adrian Tchaikovsky’s much fêted Children of Time series is nearly with us. And Children of Strife is terrific. Before we get to it in detail, let me say that I will do my best to avoid spoilers for all four books. Science fiction about “uplifted” species isn’t an original idea, but Tchaikovsky tackles it in an entirely original way. As fans will know, the first book in the series (Children of Time) involved an ark ship finally reaching a terraformed planet. In theory, the world should have been ready to receive the settlers, but, oh dear… has something gone horribly wrong? Has a different species been elevated into the top spot intended for humans? I think it is OK to mention spiders here. In the also-brilliant follow-up, Children of Ruin, a different planet is featured, and here I will just drop in the word “octopuses“. Tchaikovsky is a prolific writer, with many wonderful books, but this …

Adrian Tchaikovsky’s latest is among the best new science fiction books of March 2026

Adrian Tchaikovsky’s latest is among the best new science fiction books of March 2026

A new science fiction novel by Adrian Tchaikovsky is out this month Roberto Ricciuti / Getty Images March is lining up to be packed with treats for science fiction fans. For starters, we get to return to the universe of Adrian Tchaikovsky’s Children of Time series, this time in the company of a huge mantis shrimp. We’re also being offered a take on Moby-Dick, set in space, and what sounds like a must-read: a forgotten speculative novel from 1936, which imagines the last woman left alive in Britain after a pandemic. If instead you’re after a cosy sci-fi mystery, a slice of horror or a mission to Europa, then you’re in luck, because all of those are on offer too. The latest in Tchaikovsky’s excellent Children of Time series is due to hit our shelves this month, and according to our sci-fi reviewer Emily H. Wilson, it is brilliant. The premise is that centuries earlier, a terraforming team ended up creating something terrible on a distant planet. Now, scientist Alis and human-sized mantis shrimp Cato …
