This law will target satellite operators and be grounded on existing guidelines for space activities issued in 2024, said NSAS chief strategy and policy officer Tiana Desker. “The focus is on space safety and space sustainability. Space safety to, for example, manage the collision risks given that space is increasingly congested. And space sustainability to ensure responsible practices with regard to avoiding creation of space debris,” she said. For example, the law could require satellite operators to have a proper plan for deorbiting a satellite, as a good practice for space sustainability. This could involve requiring the satellite to be launched into a “low enough orbit that it would naturally decay and come down”, said Ms Desker. There are also plans for a “national registry of Singapore space objects, which is in line with international practice”, she added. LOS ANGELES, July 27 : Apple’s incoming CEO, hardware chief John Ternus, said he was committed to building on the company’s momentum in the entertainment business when he takes the helm of the iPhone maker in September.   The technology giant began offering original TV series and films through the Apple TV+ streaming app in 2019. SINGAPORE: A new national plan for youth development was launched on Saturday (Jul 25) by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth David Neo. Called the SG Youth Plan, it aims to reach more than half a million youths from all backgrounds over the next five years, said Mr Neo, who is currently also senior minister of state for education. “The Youth Plan is a case where we’ve heard from our youths, more than 60,000 of them over a period of time, to understand what are their fears, their concerns and what are their aspirations, what do they want to achieve,” Mr Neo told reporters on Monday ahead of the launch at the SG Youth Forum at Suntec Convention Centre. More than 415,000 responses were gathered from youths and stakeholders between November 2024 and March this year about the plan, the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) and National Youth Council (NYC) said in a press release on Saturday. Using your PlayStation to play games is just fine. But what if you could use your Sony console to vibe code with your AI agents on Linux instead? That’s what the ownership advocacy organization Fulu wants to make possible, and it’s willing to pay $10,000 to prove it can be done. Helmed by YouTuber Louis Rossmann and fellow consumer advocate Kevin O’Reilly, Fulu pays bounties to the first person who proves they can fix or bypass product features that Fulu deems to be hostile to device owners. Fulu puts up the first $10,000, then will match donations up to another $10K. Since it started in late 2025, Fulu has paid out two bounties so far—one for a fix of Google’s outdated Nest thermostats and another for DRM-enabled Molekule air purifiers. Self-driving tech company May Mobility is looking to bring its robotaxis to new international markets by teaming up with Chinese ride-hailing service CaoCao. The partnership, announced Wednesday, aims to bring “large-scale commercialization of robotaxi services” to more locations, starting in Europe. As part of the agreement, the two companies will look into expanding commercial robotaxi operations and launch pilot programs in “key markets, including Europe.” CaoCao will own the robotaxi fleet and operate services such as vehicle support and maintenance, while May Mobility’s autonomous driving tech will power the self-driving fleet.  May Mobility has previously partnered with ride-hailing companies Lyft and Uber to bring its robotaxis to cities including Atlanta and, soon, Arlington, Texas. Earlier this year, May Mobility expanded into Japan and says it’s completed more than half a million commercial autonomous rides in the US and Japan. It currently uses hybrid-electric Toyota Sienna minivans equipped with its self-driving technology and aims to announce a new third-party vehicle platform later this year. The Connectivity Standard Alliance on Wednesday announced Matter 1.6, an update to the smart home standard that’s designed to improve compatibility between devices and platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home and Alexa. That’s particularly important as these platforms add new features, such as Apple Home’s upcoming capabilities to generate AI video descriptions for connected security cameras.  The Matter update is part of a big week for the Connectivity Standard Alliance. The group also announced updates to Thread, a protocol that Matter and other smart home devices can use for local communication and that offers security and power-efficiency advantages over technologies such as Wi-Fi. A representative from the Connectivity Standard Alliance didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.  What does the Matter update actually change? Thermostats, setups, Thread and more receive updates in this Matter release.
