A Jewish man suffered injuries to his face and back after he was allegedly assaulted in Golders Green, North London, the Metropolitan Police has said. In a statement, the Metropolitan Police confirmed they were investigating and that the incident is being “treated as an antisemitic hate crime”. The force said: “Police were called at 02:05hrs on Monday, 18 May, following reports that a Jewish man had been assaulted by a number of men outside a property on The Grove, NW11. “Officers attended within six minutes and spoke to the victim, a man in his 20s, who later attended hospital with injuries to his face and back. “The assault is being treated as an antisemitic hate crime. King Charles makes emotional visit after horrific antisemitic attacks | Royal | News

King Charles made the surprise visit (Image: PA) King Charles was welcomed by huge cheers as he made a surprise visit to Golders Green in North London today, where he met both victims of last month’s antisemitic terror attack, as well as first responders who helped at the scene. The King spent around an hour speaking with members of the local community and charity representatives in the predominantly Jewish area of north west London on Thursday as he sought to “reaffirm his steadfast support” for the Jewish community. The monarch’s visit came just hours after Prince Harry wrote in the New Statesman to express his concern about the “deeply troubling” increase in attacks against the Jewish community. Harry’s Nazi ‘mistake’ shame as he blasts ‘lethal’ UK antisemitism | Royal | News

The Duke of Sussex has hit out at the ‘deeply troubling’ rise in antisemitic violence (Image: Getty) Prince Harry has spoken out against the rise in antisemitic violence across Britain, describing it as “deeply troubling” and referencing his own infamous past after being photographed wearing a Nazi uniform more than two decades ago. The Duke of Sussex made the intervention in a column published in The New Statesman, in which he condemned what he called “lethal violence” against Jewish communities in Manchester and London, and warned that silence in the face of hatred allows “hate and extremism to flourish unchecked.” What did Prince Harry write about antisemitism? Harry acknowledged his own “past mistakes” in the piece – a reference to the scandal that broke in January 2005, when he was photographed dressed in a Nazi outfit at a fancy dress party at the age of 20. The column came more than 20 years after those images first emerged. The duke was careful to draw a distinction between “legitimate protest” and the targeting of Jewish communities, …

France’s far-right Le Pen and Bardella court Israel, Germany envoys ahead of presidential vote

In recent months, Jordan Bardella has met Germany’s ambassador, while Marine Le Pen has held talks with Israel’s envoy. Both have also been received by Donald Trump’s emissary in Paris – signs of growing interest from foreign capitals in the polling frontrunners, just a year before the presidential election. Marine Le Pen’s anti-immigration National Rally (RN) party is eyeing its best chance yet at taking power, with President Emmanuel Macron stepping down after hitting the two-term limit. Le Pen hopes to run for president for a fourth time in 2027, after twice making it to the runoffs against Macron in the last two votes. Zack Polanski’s approval rating enters freefall in humiliating blow | UK | News

A deepening antisemitism scandal has sent Zack Polanski’s approval ratings into freefall, with over 30 Green Party candidates allegedly facing accusations of posting antisemitic content online. Close to a dozen candidates have reportedly been suspended by the party since the campaign began, with further cases still being examined. Police arrested two on suspicion of stirring up racial hatred. The Express reported how Polanski’s own conduct came under scrutiny after he backed a social media post attacking officers who arrested a man suspected of stabbing two Jewish men in Golders Green. Sir Mark Rowley, the Metropolitan Police commissioner, responded with a public letter warning the Green leader was stoking “rising tensions.” His apology did not extend to withdrawing the underlying claim – Polanski maintained he was “very concerned” by footage of the arrest, and hit back at Rowley for using an open letter, calling it an inappropriate way “to do politics.” What did Zack Polanski say about the antisemitism allegations? Polanski insisted there were only a “handful” of cases and that the “vast majority” of candidates …

Soaring antisemitism sparks Met Police push to protect London’s Jewish population | UK | News

The Met Police is putting 100 extra officers in northwest London (Image: Getty) The Met Police has announced a Community Protection Team of 100 extra officers, as further arrests were made for antisemitic hate crimes. This follows the attacks in Golders Green on April 29, where two Jewish men were stabbed, and a suspected arson attack at a synagogue today (May 5). The new group combines neighbourhood policing, specialist protection, and counter terrorism teams. It is being done to provide a “more visible, intelligence‑led and coordinated presence focused on protecting Jewish communities” across London. The Met said that this approach reflects “what we know works best”: officers who are locally based, understand their communities, and have strong relationships with residents, schools, faith leaders and volunteers. It marks the beginning of “a new, more sustainable and consistent model of protection” built around “local knowledge, visibility and partnership, rather than relying solely on repeated short‑term surges”. This new team will be primarily focused on protecting the Jewish community, which faces some of the highest levels of hate …

Green candidate called Jewish people cockroaches as depth of party’s anti-Semitism problem revealed

Green candidate called Jewish people cockroaches as depth of party’s anti-Semitism problem revealed

The arrest of two Green Party candidates over anti-Semitism allegations is “just the tip of the iceberg”, opponents have claimed. Saiqa Ali and Sabine Mairey, who are both standing for the party in central London, were detained by Met Police officers on Thursday morning. But The Telegraph can reveal almost 20 Green candidates at next week’s local elections have posted offensive material, with anti-Israel sentiment running deep in the party under Zack Polanski, its leader. They include one who referred to Jewish people as “cockroaches”, while others expressed support for Palestine Action, a banned terror group. Kevin Hollinrake, the Tory chairman, said: “These arrests appear to be just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to anti-Semitism in the Green Party. “Zack Polanski needs to step up and start taking action against those in his party who are openly promoting the oldest form of racism: anti-Semitism.” A Green Party spokesman said: “We are investigating anything brought to our attention that doesn’t fit with Green Party values and views.” Mothin Ali, the party’s deputy leader, …

The Daily Mail asks why the suspect was “free to roam the streets with a knife”. The New York Times looks into investigations surrounding recent attacks against Jewish targets across Europe. The article explains that in many cases those perpetrating the attack were not affiliated to any cause and that many were teenagers recruited through Snapchat or Telegram and promised quick cash in exchange for their actions.  The Times discusses hybrid warfare by Russia in Poland. The paper interviews one Polish general who is urging NATO to take the …

Zack Polanski ripped apart by Met Police chief over outrageous Golders Green response | Politics | News

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has been publicly criticised Green party leader Zack Polanski for sharing an “inaccurate and misinformed” social media post about the way his officers arrested the Golders Green terror suspect. Mr Polanski shared a social media post stating “officers were repeatedly and violently kicking a mentally ill man in the head”. The move sparked outrage on Thursday morning, with critics claiming it “shows why his Green Party is so dangerous”. It comes as two candidates for the left-wing party were arrested on suspicion of stirring up racial hatred when they allegedly posted anti-Semitic comments online. Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley lashed out at the Green leader for retweeting an “inaccurate and misinformed” tweet from “armchair critics” of how police had responded to the carnage on the streets of North London. In a statement at the scene earlier today Sir Mark described the double attempted murder as a “horrendous act of violence” and revealed the motive was anti-Semitism. He also said the suspect had a “history of serious violence and mental health …
