How do you know when a painting is finished? It’s a question asked of so many painters, many of whom struggle to come up with an answer. When I posed it to Archie Rand during a conversation in his Brooklyn studio, he stood up from his lounge chair and walked toward an easel on which sat a half-finished work. In it, a dapper street vendor sells ceramics from a wooden board balanced on his head. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially touched down at their Montecito home after a jam-packed four-day visit to Australia, and they received the sweetest surprise from their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Taking to Instagram Stories, Meghan shared a video of their happy return, complete with a ‘Welcome Home’ banner that had been strung thoughtfully above the open door. Meghan Markle has delighted fans with a rare glimpse of family life, sharing a sweet video of her son Prince Archie, hitting the slopes. In the adorable clip, the six-year-old can be seen following in the footsteps of his father, Prince Harry, as he confidently skis down a snow-covered run with the royal dad close by.  Proud mum Meghan couldn’t hide her joy, captioning the moment: “My boys. Prince Harry feared that his brother Prince William could show “no mercy” towards his family after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his titles, a royal author has claimed.  In his new book, Betrayal: Power, Deceit And The Fight For The Future Of The Royal Family, Tom Bower explores the “split between the Houses of Sussex and Windsor”. Betrayal, which is published on 26 March, investigates whether the “broken bonds” between Prince William and Kate, and Harry and Meghan, can ever be repaired. A spokesperson for the Sussexes has denied the claims in the book, criticising the author for his “fixation” on the couple.  In one passage, the royal biographer describes Prince Harry’s anticipated reaction in the US to news that Andrew had been stripped of his titles on 30 October – and the realisation it meant his own royal status was “no longer invincible”.  It meant anything was possible in the future, including putting the titles of Harry’s children at risk. Royal fans were given a rare view into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s luxurious $29million Montecito mansion, specifically the Duke’s home office, and there were some sweet hidden details on display.  In a clip shared to her Instagram account, the Duchess of Sussex, 44, brought her husband a selection of chocolate bars from her lifestyle brand, As Ever, with Harry choosing white chocolate. “Thank you, love you!” Harry said from behind his desk.  Behind him was a display of military patches gifted from members of Team Ukraine during the Invictus Games in February last year. And eagle-eyed royal fans soon spotted a card in the background, from the couple’s children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, four. Archie was also, of course, the last holdout at newsstands. They switched to a new newsstand distributor back in 2024 as well: a company called a360media. A360 primarily distributes, well, magazine-sized magazines (and plenty of puzzle books), so that might also be the reason, or part of the reason, for the change to digests. However, a deeper dive into the recent changes via Riverdale Reviewed reveals an even more significant shift: Archie Comics is producing almost zero new content. The latest digest format will only contain reprinted material. The company also seems to have recently embraced facsimile editions, reprinting famous older issues, such as Sabrina’s debut in 1962. Occasionally, there’s a gimmicky crossover like the recent Kevin Smith-penned Archie Meets Jay & Silent Bob. But all the creative flowering we were seeing at Archie a decade ago? The New Archie relaunch with creators like Mark Waid, Fiona Staples, Chip Zdarsky, Erica Henderson, and J. Bone?
