Hasan Piker, Self-Described ‘Ayatollah of Woke,’ Wants AI to Die

Hasan Piker spends seven to eight hours a day, seven days a week, streaming on Twitch. The far-left political commentator got his start in 2013 interning for (and sometimes hosting) the Young Turks. More than a decade later, he’s a powerhouse newsfluencer with the number-one channel in Twitch’s Politics and Commentary category. More than 3 million people follow him for his takes and humor on the crumbling American empire, foreign policy, and why Bernie would have won. He is also considered, by some, very hot. Piker works out every available morning and eats 1 pound of chicken with some rice at 6 pm. The rest of his free time is spent researching, planning his streams, and getting in fights with people who have AI avatars. Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei Surrounded By 24/7 Medical Team In Hideout As Generals Run Iran: NYT

The NY Times in a new deep dive of what governing structures now look like inside Iran says what’s already long been obvious to many in the wake of longtime Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death: “When Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ruled Iran as the supreme leader, he exerted absolute power over all decisions about war, peace and negotiations with the United States. His son and successor does not play the same role.” The publication says it was able to interview at least half-a-dozen Iranian insiders, including IRGC officials, and individuals who know the younger Khamenei “well”. The NY Times describes of Mojtaba Khamenei: “His father, wife and son were all killed. Access to him is extremely difficult and limited now. He is surrounded mostly by a team of doctors and medical staff who are treating the injuries he sustained in the airstrikes.” ISNA/AFP/Getty Images Apparently even top ‘trusted’ generals and IRGC commanders do visit him for fear of being surveilled and tracked to his location by Israel and the United States. Iran’s ‘heavily disfigured’ new Ayatollah breaks silence with threat | World | News

Iran’s new supreme leader has released a statement amid reports claiming he may be dead, or severely disfigured. It included another warning to Washington, whilst paying tribute to slain security official Ali Larijani. “It is with great sorrow that I received the painful news of the martyrdom of Mr. Dr. Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council and the Leader’s representative on that council, as well as his distinguished son and some of his colleagues,” Khamenei said in a statement on Wednesday. Khamenei continued to say that Larijani “a learned, far-sighted, intelligent, and committed individual with diverse experiences in various political, military, security, cultural, and managerial arenas.” “The enemies of Islam should know that shedding this blood only makes the mighty tree of the Islamic system stronger, and of course, every drop of blood has its price, which the murderous killers of these martyrs will soon have to pay,” he added. This marks the second occasion he has issued a statement in recent days following reports emerging that he had lost a leg …

Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei strikes defiant tone in first public statement

Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei strikes defiant tone in first public statement

Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei gave his first public statement on Thursday, saying that Iran will not capitulate to demands from the United States and Israel. Khamenei was elevated to his current role after his father was killed in a joint air offensive by the U.S. and Israel. The new supreme leader of Iran called his father’s death a “deep wound” and vowed to avenge the deaths of Iranians who have been killed in ongoing conflict. His defiant statement was read by a newsreader on Iranian state television. “We will not refrain from avenging the blood of your martyrs,” the statement said. Khamenei called on other forces in the reason to join Iran’s cause and attack American bases, calling the security promised by American military presence “nothing more than a lie.” “The countries of the region must clarify their position regarding the aggressors against our beloved homeland and the killers of our people,” Khamenei said. Khamenei said the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping corridor to Iran’s south, would remain closed for the duration of the war. …

In Trump’s Iran conflict, it’s prosperity gospel vs. the Quran

In Trump’s Iran conflict, it’s prosperity gospel vs. the Quran

(RNS) — The 1979 collapse of the Iranian monarchy coincided with the publication of Christopher Lasch’s blockbuster book of ideas, “The Culture of Narcissism,” a critique of American celebrity, grandiosity and spiritual emptiness. In retrospect, the book explains the reasons Iran’s young radicals rose up against the Shah’s regime and the results of the revolution that put the first ayatollah, Ruhollah Khomeini, in power. It may also explain the reasons for the current war. In the United States, a narcissistic “cult of the self,” as Lasch puts it, tended then (and clearly tends now) to self-aggrandizement and an unhealthy focus on personal image and consumption. The current administration is a case study of the problem, even as it wraps itself in so-called Christian nationalism. In pre-revolutionary Iran, the overwhelming wealth of the monarchy, combined with aggressive modernization, presented Iranians with a worldview tilted toward an unattainable consumerism. They overthrew the Shah and his petrodollar trappings and replaced him with the austere presence of the supreme leader, a position that now appears to have become hereditary. …

Iran Hails Deadly Cluster Bomb Attack On Central Israel: ‘First Wave Under New Ayatollah’

Iran Hails Deadly Cluster Bomb Attack On Central Israel: ‘First Wave Under New Ayatollah’

Since the start of Operation Epic Fury against Iran, Israel has suffered some rare mass casualty events and major destruction of sectors of its cities, especially in Tel Aviv. The official death toll stands at eleven civilians killed, and dozens wounded and injured; while Israel’s military just suffered two troop deaths in southern Lebanon. The most devastating single incident was when nine people were killed in an Iranian missile strike on Beit Shemesh near Jerusalem on March 1, amid Iran’s retaliatory action. On Monday there are widespread reports of another significant deadly missile impact in the heart of Israel. Local media reports that at least one person was killed and two others seriously wounded after an Iranian missile carrying a cluster warhead struck central Israel on Monday. Illustrative: Cluster bomb open source image. Already there’s been evidence of advanced hypersonic missiles sent on Israel, but cluster munitions by Iran may be something ‘new’ deployed in the war with Israel. Times of Israel describes that the cluster warhead hit at least six locations across central Israel, …

Kalshi Gamblers Furious After Company Refuses to Pay Out Million on Ayatollah Khamenei’s Death

Kalshi Gamblers Furious After Company Refuses to Pay Out $54 Million on Ayatollah Khamenei’s Death

Sign up to see the future, today Can’t-miss innovations from the bleeding edge of science and tech When an Israeli-American business executive saw the green checkmarks glow next to his bets on Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s ouster as supreme leader of Iran, he thought he had it made. His improbable $3,460 wager had suddenly ballooned into a payout of more than $63,000 after US and Israeli forces assassinated the Ayatollah in an aerial strike. There was just one problem: the bet never paid out. That scenario, as described by the Washington Post, came as the prediction market platform Kalshi has refused to pay out a staggering sum of $54 million to users who bet Khamenei would be “out” as supreme leader last weekend. The company’s rationale — decided after it had allowed the market on that particular wager to accrue millions of dollars — is that the Ayatollah’s death didn’t really count on his “ousting” as supreme leader, and that the platform doesn’t allow bets “directly tied to death.” “I was booking my trip to Courchevel,” …

Moment memorial for slayed Ayatollah in Manchester is gatecrashed by celebrating crowd | UK | News

A mourning event for Ayatollah Khamenei has reportedly been crashed by counter-protesters in Manchester. The demonstration began as a vigil on Sydney Street, just off Oxford Road, organised by the Manchester Friends of Islamic Centre and promoted on Instagram. Khamenei was killed, along with his wife and some family members, in an air strike as part of large-scale US and Israeli missile strikes against targets in Iran on February 28. Attendees were waving the modern Iranian flag and photos of the Ayatollah, as well as slogans proclaiming “no to Islamophobia” and “mosques are sacred places of worship”. Police are in attendance maintained a distance between the two groups. The vigil has been met with a large counter-protest waving flags of the US, Israel and the pre-1979 Islamic Revolution flag of Iran. They also carried photos of Reza Pahlavi, son of the last Shah of Iran. While those mourning were holding the current official flag, the celebrating counter-protesters were waving the Lion and Sun flag. The two different flags carry strong political symbolism, reflecting diverging chapters …
