Napoli beaten 3-2 by Bologna to leave Champions League spot in the balance

May 11 : Napoli came from two goals down but were stunned by an added-time strike from Jonathan Rowe to lose 3-2 at home to Bologna, a setback that leaves the hosts’ top-four hopes in the balance as they missed a chance to secure a Champions League place. Napoli came into the game knowing that a win would seal a top-four place while Bologna had nothing left to play for but pride, and that ultimately proved enough for the visitors to complete the double over last season’s champions. Title winners Inter Milan have 85 points, with Napoli second on 70, and are one of five sides battling for the three remaining places in Europe’s premier club competition. Juventus are third on 68, one point ahead of AC Milan and AS Roma, with Como a further two points back. Bologna are eighth with 52 points. Federico Bernardeschi put Bologna ahead in the ninth minute and Riccardo Orsolini’s penalty doubled the lead in the 34th before Giovanni Di Lorenzo pulled one back in added time before the …

Dementia patient beaten, set on fire and killed in downtown L.A.

A wandering dementia patient died Monday after a homeless man in downtown Los Angeles punched and kicked him in the head, slammed him to the ground and set him on fire, prosecutors said Thursday. Bang Cho, 84, died in a hospital the day after the assault. The suspect, Lavonta Wilder, 40, has been charged with murder. “This case involves an elderly man who was disoriented and living with dementia, conditions that made him particularly vulnerable,” Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Nathan Hochman said in a statement. “The level of violence alleged here is brutal, callous and extreme.” Cho was downtown after walking off from a convalescent home around 11:55 p.m. on Sunday when he grabbed a bag that Wilder was holding, the district attorney’s office said. Wilder, who is unhoused and weighs 240 pounds, “viciously” punched and kicked Cho’s head and body, lifted him over his shoulder and slammed him to the ground and then set him on fire, the office said. Emma Raducanu beaten by ‘lucky loser’ after needing medical help in Dubai

Emma Raducanu beaten by ‘lucky loser’ after needing medical help in Dubai

Raducanu finally registers her first point of the match, courtesy of an error from Ruzic, who finds the net with a backhand. That then gives Raducanu to win the next point with a strong backhand across the court to go 30-0 up. Raducanu sends down her first ace of the match, with Ruzic unable to get across to her right to return. Raducanu thought she was going to win the game to love but a forehand shot that should have been the winner goes out. Ruzic keeps the game alive with a lovely forehand winner and now Raducanu is under a bit of pressure; she looked like she was easing to the game to love but now needs to win the next point to save the game going to deuce. Raducanu goes long and we do go to deuce. Ruzic then wins the next point at the end of a lengthy rally and suddenly the Croatian has gone from 40-0 down to now having a break point. Raducanu needed that though, at risk of being …

Likely French presidential candidate Mélenchon under fire after activist beaten to death – POLITICO

Government spokesperson Maud Bregeon said France Unbowed had a “moral responsibility” for fostering a “climate of violence.” During a meeting Sunday in support of a local candidate in Montpellier, Mélenchon expressed “empathy for the family of young Quentin” and said that “for [France Unbowed], nonviolence is a fundamental philosophical choice. Violence stunts our movements and brings fear that spreads.” Hassan on Friday said she had been “horrified” to hear of the attack against Deranque. “Whenever I travel, the only security service I work with and who accompany me is that of France Unbowed, which never resorts to violence and is in no way involved in these clashes,” she added. French President Emmanuel Macron responded to Deranque’s death by posting on X, “in a republic, no cause, no ideology can ever justify killing,” without targeting a particular group or political party. In an interview recorded prior to Deranque’s death, Macron said he believed France Unbowed was a “far-left” movement — a label which has been contested by the party and others on the left, as well …

Tourist beaten to death had head ‘treated like a football’ | UK | News

A tourist who was “loved by everyone” was beaten to death on the street and had his head “treated like a football”, his sister told the Central Criminal Court.  Neno Dolmajian, 42, was visiting Ireland from Canada to watch a Liam Gallagher concert. However, his family were destroyed when he never made it back home after getting involved in an incident on the streets of Dublin.  Maral Dolmajian said her brother had the “soul and sensitivity of an artist”, was curious about the world and loved to learn as much as he could. Mr Dolmajin died after meeting a group of people near O’Connell St and being knocked to the ground before being kicked full force in the face. His sister said: “My parents have always gone above and beyond to help family and friends. They have always been the most generous with their time and energy. The consequence of all this goodness, all these good deeds, was their only son being killed. Their son who wouldn’t even hurt a fly. Their son who had …
