‘Off Campus’ Cast and Crew Tease Season 1, Reveal Season 2 Is Filming

The cast and creatives of Prime Video’s next YA offering, Off Campus, gathered in Hollywood Wednesday night for the series premiere. Based on the Elle Kennedy books of the same name, the romance series follows “an elite ice hockey team, and the women in their lives, as they grapple with love, heartbreak, and self-discovery — forging deep friendships and enduring bonds while navigating the complexities that come with transitioning into adulthood,” according to the show’s synopsis. The book series Off Campus, which begins with The Deal, follows a new-but-connected couple in each book. The show, which follows The Deal’s storyline, plans to keep that model. “Bridgerton set that stage. I think they did it amazingly well. Pomona College in Claremont has long projected the ideals of a liberal arts education: elite academics, small classes and deep student-faculty ties against a backdrop of lush courtyards at one of the nation’s most selective campuses. That image is now under strain. A series of anti-Black incidents has unsettled the campus, raising questions about race and belonging. This year, multiple students have shouted or sung the N-word at athletic events and in residential halls, and held a party where attendees were invited to dress as Black stereotypes. Criticism is growing over a professor’s use of the slur in class. Vandals damaged a campus lounge popular with Black community members. Students have also pointed to Fizz, an anonymous app used by Pomona students and those across the other neighboring undergraduate Claremont Colleges — Pitzer, Harvey Mudd, Claremont McKenna and Scripps — as a place where racist posts regularly circulate. “Now you can blush,” Belmont Cameli’s Garrett Graham cheekily tells Ella Bright’s Hannah Wells in the first trailer for Prime Video’s Off Campus adaptation. Based on Elle Kennedy’s hit hockey romance series of the same name, the trailer for the highly anticipated first season dropped Thursday, giving fans of the book series the most substantial look at the Briar University college students yet. “Off Campus follows an elite ice hockey team, and the women in their lives, as they grapple with love, heartbreak, and self-discovery — forging deep friendships and enduring bonds while navigating the complexities that come with transitioning into adulthood,” the show’s synopsis reads. The events of the past three months seem almost perfectly engineered to spark campus unrest. In January, mass-deportation operations led to the brazen killing of U.S. citizens at the hands of masked immigration agents. In February, the Environmental Protection Agency declared that it would no longer regulate greenhouse-gas emissions. A few weeks later, the Trump administration joined forces with Israel to launch an attack on Iran without congressional approval. One might expect left-leaning college students to have practically started a revolution. But campuses across the country—places where, just two years ago, students occupied buildings and colonized the quad to protest Israel’s war against Hamas—are strangely silent. (RNS) — A Muslim woman who was the last pro-Palestinian protester still in immigration custody after the Trump administration’s 2025 campus crackdown walked free from a Texas detention center Monday (March 16).  Leqaa Kordia, a 33-year-old Palestinian woman who has lived in New Jersey for 10 years and had been in custody for a year, was detained last March after protesting near Columbia University against Israel’s bombing campaign in Gaza, which killed nearly 200 of her family members.  “Alhamdullah (thank God) I am free, after a long hard year,” she told worshippers at the Valley Ranch Islamic Center in Irving, Texas, hours after her release. “It wasn’t easy in ICE’s dungeons.”  Kordia was freed Monday on a $100,000 bond after an immigration judge ordered her release on Friday, her lawyers said. It’s the third time a judge has ordered her release. The Department of Homeland Security challenged the first two rulings and kept her in detention. In February, Kordia was hospitalized for a seizure and unreachable by her lawyers and family for three days, renewing …

(RNS) — With more than 20 South Asian cultural and religious organizations on the campus of University of Illinois, where 25% of the student population is Asian, Connecticut native Rishabh Bhandari felt spoilt for choice as an eager freshman.  Yet despite the widespread popularity of large-scale Diwali and Holi events, Bhandari said he felt there was a lack of focus on Hindu practices. “There was no, like, place where I could just go and either pray or have some place where we can do puja (rituals) or anything for those big holidays. So it kind of just became like you go to parties, rather than any religious aspect,” said the aerospace engineering major. This sentiment — that Hindu holidays and teachings were being watered down in college life — led to the 2018 formation of the on-campus Hindu student center Vivekananda House on Iowa State’s campus. A death stare greets me as I enter peter campus’s exhibition at The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C. A man looks right at me, dead on—or at the camera, really. His harsh eyebrows, thick yet articulated, add to the intensity. I check the video’s title and learn that it’s a death stare of a different kind: Head of a Man with Death on His Mind (1978). The man swallows occasionally, blinks infrequently. Set against a white background, his face is nevertheless lit as if in chiaroscuro, recorded in black-and-white. Is he thinking about his own death, that of a loved one, or just general grief? At one point, his eyes gaze downward, as if he is looking toward hell or the grave, or is simply sad.
