Danceteria’s tolerance and topsy-turviness allowed for enormous creativity—but it also allowed for some precarious situations. BRILL: We would do dinners on the roof in the summertime. One night I wanted to get down to the dance floor and the elevators were very slow. I was always in fetish stilettos and rubber skirts that had limited maneuverability, but I saw some people climbing down the fire escape ladder. So I just climbed down [10 stories], went through the window into the club, and then climbed back up to the roof afterwards. Thank God no one was hurt that way. But we were desperate to find a place where we not only belonged but could create and express—and if it came with a little bit of danger, then that was okay. DAVIS: There were two elevators side by side at Danceteria, and [fellow elevator operator] Audrey Roman and I used to stop in between floors and open the trap doors inside of the elevators. GREECE Toes in the sea on Kastellorizo Just 2km from the Lycian coast, Kastellorizo is much closer to Turkey than mainland Greece. Ferries from the Turkish beach town of Kaş, as well as Rhodes and other Dodecanese neighbours, dock at the island’s tiny harbour, lined with colourful neoclassical houses. One of them, an ochre-painted mansion with pistachio green shutters, is Hotel Mediterraneo, which is so close to the water that you can practically roll out of bed and into the sea from the ground floor suite. Mediterraneo’s owner, Parisian architect Marie Rivalant, is one of many artists and creatives who have fallen for Kastellorizo’s sleepy charms. She took over the quayside pension 25 years ago, painting the seven bedrooms in sunny colours and layering them with rugs, cushions, antiques and artworks (if you like her bohemian style, there is a small shop at the hotel selling her finds). Connor Storrie has officially made his Met Gala debut. The Heated Rivalry star arrived at fashion’s biggest night sporting an all-black Saint Laurent ensemble, adorned with Tiffany & Co. jewelry. Storrie was first spotted leaving the Carlyle Hotel before making his way to the 2026 Met Gala, posing and joking with the gathered crowd. The night’s theme is Costume Art and had a dress code of “fashion is art,” leaving attendees plenty of room for interpretation. Storrie opted for a black suit with a black-and-white polka-dot shirt underneath, leading into a bow at the back of his neck and a train.
