AI has collapsed the cyber response window — resilience now starts before the attack

Presented by Rubrik Enterprise cybersecurity is facing a fundamental speed problem. Frontier AI models are now enabling autonomous attacks that can move from initial access to full system breakout in as little as 27 seconds. That’s faster than any human-operated security workflow can detect, escalate, and respond. As a result, security operations can no longer assume there is time for humans to respond between breach and damage. The security posture that enterprises need for the AI era centers on cyber resilience: continuously identifying clean recovery states, mapping critical data and identity dependencies, and automating restoration so that operations can recover in hours not days. “Everything that relied on process or human-in-the-loop intervention is no longer going to be able to execute at the speed of the attacks,” says Dev Rishi, GM of AI at Rubrik. “If the attacks are happening in 27 seconds, it means I need my recovery to happen just as quickly.” Traditional detection and prevention are failing against AI-driven attacks The rules-based logic that has defined enterprise security for decades, such as …

The class divide in British politics didn’t erode slowly – it collapsed under New Labour

The class divide in British politics didn’t erode slowly – it collapsed under New Labour

British politics has become increasingly volatile and fragmented, with no party able to command the substantial backing of the public that was once routine. The results from England’s local elections in May illustrate just how far politics has moved from the two-party dominance that characterised much of the 20th century. And at the centre of this change lies an important element: class. In recent decades the electoral foundations of democracy have shifted, eroding the class basis that earlier voting habits were built upon. In the 2019 general election, Labour lost many working-class strongholds to the Conservatives, prompting questions about whether a class realignment was taking place. And in 2024, the rise of Reform UK in many working-class areas left some wondering if it is now the new party of the working class. Our new research examines how the party system has developed across 37 general elections in Britain, from 1885 to 2024. By taking an unprecedented long-term perspective, we situated contemporary debates about the party system within more than a century of social and political …

Killer driver ran over collapsed man twice – and called him a ‘smackhead’ | UK | News

Megan Murphy (Image: Instagram) A heartless motorist repeatedly drove over a man who had fallen into the road before callously branding him a ‘smackhead’. Personal trainer Megan Murphy, 26, failed to properly clear her windscreen in the early hours of 9th January last year before travelling the wrong way down a one-way street near her former residence in Marsh Green, Wigan. Darryl Tomlinson, 31, who lived just around the corner from Murphy, had collapsed after a night out drinking with friends. Murphy drove over him, reversed, and then drove over him a second time, reports Manchester Evening News. In the immediate aftermath, she claimed ‘I didn’t see him’, before telling a friend she had just ‘reversed over him’. The court heard she referred to Mr Tomlinson as a ‘smackhead’ while he remained beneath her vehicle. Neighbours dialled 999 upon discovering Mr Tomlinson, however ‘in an awful twist of fate’, neither police nor paramedics ‘could find the patient and never attended the scene’. He tragically died in the street. Murphy, now residing at Lord Street, Ince, …

This life-altering discovery, made after a dramatic collapse during a leisurely bike ride, has prompted her to undertake the endurance cycle for the British Heart Foundation. Diana Warren, 55, was enjoying a bike ride with her wife, Lisa, in June 2022 when she suddenly collapsed. The couple had paused their 14-mile journey to Mersey Island at a local cafe, where Ms Warren, then 51, had chosen a coffee and a cream tea “for carbohydrates” to sustain them for the remainder of their trip. “I’d put the cream on the scone ready to go for it, and I don’t remember much after that,” Ms Warren, who lives in Colchester, told PA Real Life. “Apparently, …

Collapsed high street chain’s debts revealed as it closes store in UK | UK | News

A well-known UK discount chain entered administration earlier this year, and its debts have now been revealed. The Original Factory Shop faced difficulties and began to close its stores. The Factory Shop Ltd, trading as The Original Factory Shop, was established in 1969 and operates as a UK-wide discount department store chain. The retail brand went into administration in January after its owners, Modella Capital, said “last-ditch” measures to rescue the high street shop had not worked. The brand had an outlet in Lancaster Leisure Park which is now closed. It also has a store in Garstang which is set to close on March 29. It underwent restructuring amid fears over its future, with investment firm Modella Capital stepping in to save it. However, in January this year, the group said it would have to start insolvency proceedings for the business. Insider reports that details around the insolvency have now been revealed. According to an estimate included in a new report by administrators Interpath, The Original Factory Shop owed more than £30m to unsecured trade …

Mandelson ‘received £1.5m from selling shares in collapsed firm’

Lord Mandelson made more than £1.5m from selling his shares in his lobbying firm before it collapsed over his links to Jeffrey Epstein, it has been reported. The peer is said to have received £250,000 for his remaining stake in Global Counsel just days before the company shut down last month. Meanwhile, his former colleagues’ shares ended up worthless, three sources told the Financial Times. The newspaper reported that the former business secretary had made between £1.3m and £1.4m in an earlier sale of shares to friends and associates in 2024. One source said the peer had received money “from a business that he destroyed”, adding: “If he had any decency he would donate the money to the victims of his friend Jeffrey Epstein.” Lord Mandelson tries on a belt on a 2005 shopping trip with Jeffrey Epstein in the Caribbean in a photo released from the Epstein files – US House Oversight Committee Global Counsel collapsed into administration on Feb 19 after losing a succession of high-profile clients including Barclays, Tesco, the Premier League, …

Shocking pictures show collapsed road at royal property due to snow | Royal | News

A road which is part of a popular route on the Balmoral Castle Estate in Aberdeenshire, has collapsed due to bad weather and snow. It is part of the route leading to the popular Spittal of Glen Muick visitors’ car park, which is currently inaccessible as a repair plan takes shape. The road is said to have been “undermined” by a “high volume” of snowmelt. Balmoral Castle posted a statement on their social media Instagram page: “Unfortunately, due to a high volume of snowmelt, the road at the Spittal of Glen Muick car park has collapsed and undermined the bridge. “The bridge is now closed to both vehicles and pedestrians. We will begin repair work as soon as possible.” For those visiting the estate, the road and car park is a main access point for Loch Muick and Lochnagar. Currently, multiple cones have been put up to stop people from attempting to cross the bridge and the car park has been closed to both vehicles and pedestrians. The start of 2026 brought nearly two weeks …
