Trump threatens to pull NATO troops from Germany after Merz criticised Iran war | World | News

Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, April 29: “The United States is studying and reviewing the possible reduction of Troops in Germany, with a determination to be made over the next short period of time. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP” He did not provide further detail nor context to the possible reduction of troops. Trump earlier this week express frustration towards Friedrich Merz after the German Chancellor took a major swipe at the US plan in the Iran war. On Monday, Merz claimed the US “obviously went into this war without any strategy”. He said during a discussion with students at a high school in Marsberg in the Sauerland region: “Especially since the Iranians obviously negotiate very skillfully – or do not negotiate very skillfully. An entire nation is being humiliated by the Iranian leadership.” Germany’s Chancellor also said: “Because the Iranians are obviously stronger than previously thought, and the Americans clearly lack a truly convincing strategy in the negotiations.” Trump repsonded in a …

Nigel Farage Criticised Over Reform UKs Deportation Plan

Nigel Farage Criticised Over Reform UKs Deportation Plan

Reform UK has been condemned over the party’s “cruel” plan to deport hundreds of thousands of migrants if it wins the next election. Zia Yusuf, the party’s home affairs spokesman, said a Reform government would review all successful asylum claims going back five years. Anyone found to have arrived in the UK illegally or overstayed their visa would be deported, he said. As many as 400,000 immigrants would potentially be affected by the policy, according to the party. Yusuf said: “Reform will reverse the invasion of Britain. Anyone who broke into the country illegally, or came in on a visa and overstayed to claim asylum (which is almost all of them) will have their status revoked and be deported. “This is an addition to all those currently in Britain illegally.” At a press conference on Monday, Reform leader Nigel Farage said Britain was being “invaded” by illegal immigrants. The announcement comes after 602 people crossed the English Channel on small boats on Saturday, making it this year’s second busiest day for crossings and bringing the …

Liz Truss Criticised For Accusing Starmer Of Appeasing Iranians

Liz Truss Criticised For Accusing Starmer Of Appeasing Iranians

Liz Truss has been slammed after accusing Keir Starmer of “appeasing the Iranians” during its war with America and Israel. The former Tory prime minister and Donald Trump fan said Starmer was “not a patriot” and “not on the side of the West” during a bizarre tirade on Talk TV. Her comments came as the prime minister flew to the Gulf for talks after Trump agreed a two-week ceasefire. The US president has been conducting a running feud with Starmer since the war began in February after the government initially denied his request for American jets to conduct bombing raids from RAF bases. Truss said: “Donald Trump understands that Keir Starmer is fundamentally not a patriot, he’s not on the side of the West, he’s been appeasing the Iranians in order to shore up his vote in this country, and Donald Trump now understands that about him.” More bollocks from the Liz Truss: “Trump understands that Keir Starmer is fundamentally not a patriot… he’s been appeasing the Iranians…” pic.twitter.com/QloYKCc7U1 — Haggis_UK 🇬🇧 🇪🇺 (@Haggis_UK) April …

Ofsted chief criticised over inspection framework comparison

Ofsted chief criticised over inspection framework comparison

More from this theme Recent articles The head of Ofsted believes the fact that it issues more ‘needs attention’ grades than ‘requires improvement’ is evidence that the watchdog is raising standards, prompting criticism for comparing the new and old frameworks. When Martyn Oliver addresses the annual conference of leaders’ union ASCL in Liverpool this morning, he will criticise “the quiet curse of low expectations” and lay out how Ofsted’s new framework is setting a “more exacting” standard for education. “We are coming from a place where more than 90 per cent of schools were previously judged good or outstanding at their most recent inspection,” he will say. “But our job is to point out where expectations can and should be raised. The new report cards do this. “Take the ‘needs attention’ grade. We are seeing more schools receive this grade than the old ‘requires improvement’ because we are raising standards. We are being more exacting. I make no apologies for that.” But his comments about the system – put in place in response to the …

Nigel Farage Criticised As Councils Break Tax Cut Pledge

Nigel Farage Criticised As Councils Break Tax Cut Pledge

Nigel Farage was left squirming as he was grilled on Reform-run councils breaking their pledge to cut taxes. The party leader bizarrely tried to claim that some were still sticking to their pledge despite putting council tax up. Reform election leaflets at last year’s local elections, some of which carried Farage’s picture, promised to “reduce waste and cut your taxes”. However, some of the local authorities which the party now controls are putting up council tax from next month. In an interview with ITV News, Farage was told: “Your leaflets at last year’s local elections promised to ‘reduce waste and cut your taxes’. “Most of the councils that you took control of are putting tax up, including Kent – 3.99%.” Farage said: “I never said we’d cut. I never said we’d cut.” But the journalist told him: “Your leaflet said ‘cut your taxes’.” Farage said that “means don’t charge the maximum of 4.99%”. The reporter hit back: “Most people would think that would be cutting your taxes.” Attempting a different approach, Farage then said: “I …

A moment that changed me: my girlfriend criticised my kisses – and it led to the best decision of my life | Life and style

In 1970, as an 18-year-old college freshman in Boston, living away from home for the first time, I started to smoke cigarettes. A pack a day grew in short order to two packs a day, or a cigarette about every 30 minutes. I choreographed my life around my smokes, puffing away after every meal, taking a drag with a drink and blowing smoke rings as I wrote, usually late into the night. I needed no pretext for smoking, but found plenty; every occasion fit the bill. Oh, I loved smoking all right. I loved the cedar taste of tobacco, the earthy smell, the whole elaborate ritual. But most of all, I savoured the sights: the flash of flame to kindle my cigarette, the amber glow at the tip, the tendrils of vapour coiling under a reading light like some primordial fog. It was like self-hypnosis. I went on like that for the next six years, straight through college and on into my first job. All along, I saw myself as pretty damn cool. I knew …

The Ozark star, who has two children with his wife Amanda Anka, was interviewing the Brat musician, 33, on SmartLess when he asked her whether she wanted to start a family, to which she replied: “I actually don’t really want to have kids.” A shocked Bateman, 57, replied: “You don’t? Wait, why?” before explaining that his wife initially didn’t want kids, but changed her mind when they met. He suggested the singer and star of new film The Moment might have the same experience, stating: “So you might find somebody”, but Charli XCX awkwardly pointed out that she was already married. “I got to read a newspaper one of these days,” Bateman joked, adding: “Your next husband, you’re gonna …
