Bournemouth’s European dream a ‘perfect ending’, says departing Iraola

May 25 : Bournemouth’s qualification for Europa League after a sixth-place Premier League finish was a perfect ending, departing manager Andoni Iraola said, admitting that he once believed reaching Europe was almost impossible. The 43-year-old Spaniard, who said in April he would leave the club at the end of the season after taking charge in 2023, oversaw a dramatic rise that culminated in Bournemouth’s best-ever Premier League finish. “I am quite hard but I have been really close (to tears). I cannot ask for much more,” Iraola told BBC Sport. “I have been so lucky to be in this moment with this group of players with this club. I think it is the perfect ending and I am so thankful.” Bournemouth, who were in the third tier of English football 13 years ago, will play in Europe for the first time in their history. Iraola said securing European qualification had not been part of his initial expectations, as his primary focus was to reshape the team’s style of play. “I had no idea (about reaching …

Departing Iraola targets strong finish as Bournemouth edge closer to Europe

May 9 : Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola said it would be massive to finish his three-year spell in charge on a high after his side’s push for Europe gathered pace with Saturday’s 1-0 win at Fulham in which both teams were reduced to 10 men before halftime. Brazil forward Rayan, 19, struck from long range in the 53rd minute to seal the points at Craven Cottage, taking his tally to five league goals since his January move from Vasco da Gama and three in successive matches. Bournemouth’s Ryan Christie was sent off in the 41st minute for a challenge on Timothy Castagne but Fulham’s numerical advantage proved short-lived as Joachim Andersen was dismissed just before halftime for a heavy tackle on Adrien Truffert. The result leaves Bournemouth sixth on 55 points with two matches remaining, four points behind Liverpool in fourth and three adrift of fifth-placed Aston Villa, who have a game in hand. Brighton & Hove Albion, who beat already relegated visitors Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0, are seventh on 53 points. “I have no rush …

Air passengers departing Singapore limited to two power banks each from Apr 15

SINGAPORE: Passengers departing Singapore will soon be limited to two power banks per person on board flights, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) said on Monday (Apr 6). The new restriction will kick in on Apr 15 at 12.01am. Those carrying more than two power banks will have to dispose of the excess devices before their flight. “Power banks must also not be charged on board the aircraft and passengers are advised not to use power banks to charge their devices during the flight,” said CAAS. This new restriction comes after a new ruling issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on Apr 2 that updated safety requirements associated with the carriage and use of power banks on board aircraft. “Lithium batteries in power banks can overheat or short-circuit, posing a fire and safety hazard on board flights,” said CAAS. “ICAO’s new requirement of a maximum of two power banks per passenger and restrictions on the charging and use of power banks on board flights seek to reduce the risk of fire while …
