Bill Clark | Cq-roll Call, Inc. | Getty Images South Carolina Rep. Russell Fry is the latest Republican in the state to throw his name in the ring to fill the late Lindsey Graham’s Senate seat, as Graham’s sister, Darline, mulls a run and other hopefuls vie to win the race for a full six-year term. Fry, in a statement posted to X on Monday, announced he’d run in a special primary election, scheduled for Aug. 11, setting the table for an intraparty clash that includes Rep. Ralph Norman. Darline Graham, who was appointed last week to fill the role on an interim basis through the end of the year, earned President Donald Trump’s endorsement on Friday, but has not announced whether she’ll seek the party’s nomination. Filing for the special primary officially opens at noon ET on Tuesday. The winner of that primary will face Democrat Annie Andrews in the …

Americans wary of Trump’s government ownership of companies: CNBC poll

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick looks on as U.S. President Donald Trump speaks in the Oval Office at the White House in Washington, D.C., U.S., June 11, 2026. Daniel Heuer | Reuters About half of Americans believe it isn’t appropriate for the U.S. government to take ownership in U.S.-based companies, CNBC’s new All-America Economic Survey found. The finding comes as the Trump administration has negotiated 30 deals worth nearly $27 billion in total, according to the Council on Foreign Relations, a nonpartisan think tank. More may be coming. The administration has held talks with influential artificial intelligence start-up OpenAI about a potential government stake when it goes public, CNBC has reported. The All-America poll results show only 19% of voters say it is appropriate for the federal government to own a portion of U.S.-based companies, while 49% say it isn’t. Almost a third of voters, or 32%, were undecided, however, suggesting there is room for persuasion as the administration moves ahead with its plans. David Paul Morris | Bloomberg | Getty Images The cost of housing is the top political issue — ranked higher than the cost of food or protecting democracy — among U.S. voters between 18- and 34-years-old, a CNBC survey found. CNBC’s All-America Economic Survey for the second quarter of 2026, which polled 1,000 registered voters across the country, found the cost of housing is a salient issue, particularly among the kinds of young voters that both parties are hoping to court heading into the 2026 midterm elections. “It was my contention and the contention of some other people that Democrats had a huge miss in 2024 by not talking more about healthcare. It is an issue where Democrats have had an advantage in polling for a long time,” said Jay Campbell, a partner at Hart Research, the Democratic pollster for the survey. “I think housing could be the healthcare …

Trump’s rebranding of Palm Beach airport hasn’t taken off as he planned

Trump’s rebranding of Palm Beach airport hasn’t taken off as he planned

One of Donald Trump‘s most grandiose vanity projects, a multimillion-dollar makeover of Florida‘s Palm Beach international airport into a self-aggrandizing, gold-plated transportation hub, is running into turbulence, barely a week after the first plane’s wheels touched the runway. At first glance, the rebranding of the airport less than 5 miles from his opulent Mar-a-Lago resort appears to be complete. Its website bears the name and oversized logo of the President Donald J Trump international airport, and state transportation workers were quick to erect highway signs leaving drivers in no doubt where they were heading. Yet inside the terminals, at the ticket counters and baggage halls, the change is far less noticeable. Digital signage reflects the switch, but many physical signs and infrastructure still refer to its old name of Palm Beach International (PBI). There is no clear timeline of when, or even if, new signs will be installed and PBI fully becomes DJT, the three-letter airport code using the president’s initials that will be its formal aviation industry designation starting on 18 August. Kuwait reported launching defenses against another wave of Iranian projectiles overnight. The developments over the weekend further jeopardized last month’s fragile truce between the two sides, potentially raising fresh concerns over oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. Central Command said it completed an eighth straight night of strikes against Iranian targets. “CENTCOM forces successfully hit Iranian military coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites to continue degrading Iranian military capabilities,” it said …

Trump Media pitched $100,000/month fee for fastest feed of Trump posts

Kevin Dietsch | Getty Images Donald Trump’s social media company has discussed charging Wall Street traders and investment firms as much as $100,000 a month for faster access to the U.S. president’s posts on his Truth Social platform, according to people familiar with the matter. Trump Media & Technology Group, which owns Truth Social, has in recent weeks also pitched a discounted plan of $60,000 per month if the firms sign up for a three-year plan, the sources said, requesting anonymity as the discussions are confidential. TMTG on Thursday unveiled a paid-for, licensed data feed called “Truth API” to provide banks and trading firms the fastest access to posts from the 10 most influential Truth Social accounts, but did not give any pricing details. The move would be the company’s first step into data licensing, opening up a new revenue stream, although it drew immediate criticism from Democrats. U.S. Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon, the highest-ranking Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, said it would financially benefit ‌the Trump family and “make Wall Street traders …

Jia Haocheng | Pool Via Reuters President Donald Trump made the World Cup one of the most visible political stages of his second term. But the tournament’s U.S. audience remained strikingly bipartisan, according to the latest CNBC All-America Economic Survey. Forty-nine percent of registered voters said they watched at least some of the World Cup, according to the survey. That included 51% of Democrats, 47% of Republicans and 47% of independents. “It crosses partisanship, one of the few things in the world that seems to at the moment,” said Jay Campbell, a partner at Democratic polling firm Hart Research, which conducted the survey along with Republican firm Public Opinion Strategies. The split was equally narrow along other political lines, the survey found. Fifty-one percent of voters who backed Kamala Harris in 2024 watched, compared with 47% of Trump voters. U.S. military says it completed latest round of strikes against Iran

U.S. Navy warships transit the Arabian Sea in close formation as CENTCOM forces continue to promote regional security and stability, June 30, 2026. Source: US Navy The U.S. military said early Saturday it ended a seventh straight night of strikes against Iran, as Kuwait and Bahrain reported attacks by Iranian projectiles and commercial shipping continued to face disruptions. The fragile truce signed by the U.S. and Iran last month showed further signs of unravelling as the latest round of fighting continued. The interim agreement was intended to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz and end the conflict which began with U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28. U.S. Central Command said the attacks, which ended at 9:30pm U.S. Eastern Time on Friday, struck “military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage, and maritime capabilities”. “CENTCOM continues to hold Iran accountable at the Commander in Chief’s direction while fully enforcing a naval blockade against Iranian ports,” it said in a post on X. The military also said its forces intercepted several shipping vessels in recent days. “During the …
