Cryptocurrency is facing yet another big price plunge. Bitcoin dropped to the $84,000 range on Thursday, the lowest price it’s seen in 2026 so far. Other cryptocurrencies like Ether and Doge also experienced falling prices, with values being down as much as 6 percent. Crypto analysts suggest that this is a crucial price point for cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin to maintain or its valuation may continue to drop. Mashable Light Speed As crypto outlets point out, the price drop of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies didn’t happen in a vacuum. The stock market, especially tech stocks like Microsoft, took a huge dive on Thursday. Crypto-related stocks also took a big hit as well. As investors sell off investments, crypto holdings traditionally take a big hit as one of the more riskier bets. According to Coindesk, investors have liquidated more than $650 million across all crypto assets during the Thursday selloff. ITV has said they remain “committed” to broadcasting Celebrity Big Brother, despite pulling the reality series from schedules this year. The star-studded spin-off of the social experiment first aired on Channel 4 in 2001, before moving to Channel 5 and more recently ITV1 in 2024. Jack P Shepherd won the latest series. The signs have been there for a while, with BYD besting Tesla sales in Europe a number of times during 2025. Now it’s official on a global basis. Despite being blocked from entering the US market, BYD’s seemingly unstoppable rise continues as its EV sales rose last year by 28 percent to 2.25 million. In contrast, Tesla announced today it delivered 1.64 million vehicles in 2025—its second annual decline in a row, and a 16 percent year-over-year decline for the fourth quarter. This is not merely the China brand edging ahead of Tesla in the electric vehicle race; it’s a marked shift. This celebratory moment signifies the start of a new year. However, on Jan. 1, New Yorkers might be surprised to see that there’ll be two ball drops instead of one. In honor of the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary of when the Declaration of Independence was signed, the Times Square Alliance — a group that organizes the annual ball drop — decided it would be best to include a second one in the night.
