Video Shows Amazon Delivery Drone Dropping Package Directly Onto Concrete, Smashing Its Delicate Contents

Sign up to see the future, today Can’t-miss innovations from the bleeding edge of science and tech Over the past few months, Amazon has been rapidly deploying its Prime delivery drones to cities across the US, from Arizona to Florida. The drones promise to enable the delivery of small parcels to suburbanites in under two hours, for a modest fee of $4.99. But as more and more videos are starting to show, they might also be delivering a lot of broken glass. In one clip, teacher-turned-influencer Tamara Hancock explores what happens if you order something fragile. In the comments under a previous video about Amazon drone delivery that shows the drones dropping cargo from a surprising height, the “number one question is, what if [I order] something fragile?” Hancock says in her latest. To test it, she bought a container of blue raspberry syrup, to be delivered by drone. She notes that the bottle could be plastic or glass, but since “it does drop from 10 feet in the air,” it could go bust either …

In defence of dropping dead: the burden of extended care for aged parents is a heavy new phenomenon | Lucinda Holdforth

In defence of dropping dead: the burden of extended care for aged parents is a heavy new phenomenon | Lucinda Holdforth

Looked at one way, the modern longevity narrative is an inspirational story of human scientific and social progress. Looked at another you could say that we are now condemned to longevity – our own and other people’s. It’s placing a massive economic, social and psychological burden on us as individuals and as a society. There are now so many old people that new categories of demographic definition have been created to describe them. Those considered the “young old” are aged between 55 and 65. That’s me: At 63 years of age, I’m a young old. By all the rules of human history, I should have been dead for years. Instead, when I look 20 years into the future, I foresee an even older me who will need to plan for the outside possibility that I may have another 20 years to go. This is not necessarily, in my view, a glorious prospect. Sometimes I see myself becoming one of the ancient crones at my own family reunion – the one wearing the garish makeup and …

Nigel Farage attacks YouGov over low polling figures – but Reform’s support is dropping across the board

Nigel Farage attacks YouGov over low polling figures – but Reform’s support is dropping across the board

Nigel Farage has accused YouGov of being “deceptive” after the polling company consistently showed Reform with less support than other surveys. He has claimed the company broke transparency rules set out by the British Polling Council over how it presents headline figures. As a result, YouGov has agreed to publish more data in future. The chart below compares Britain’s monthly voting intentions for Reform in a poll of polls derived from 14 different agencies, with voting intentions for the party from YouGov. The comparison runs from the start of 2025 to March 2026. At first glance, it appears that Farage is right – the YouGov data is below the poll of polls data for most of the time. However, if we calculate the difference between the two series, the poll of polls average for Reform over the last 15 months is about 28% in voting intentions – for YouGov it is about 26%. This 2% difference is well within the margin of error associated with polling; what statisticians describe as “not statistically significant”. Vote intentions …

You Can Approximate Pi by Dropping Needles on the Floor

You Can Approximate Pi by Dropping Needles on the Floor

Happy Pi Day! March 14 is the date that otherwise rational people celebrate this irrational number, because 3/14 contains the first three digits of pi. And hey, pi deserves a day. By definition, it’s the ratio of the circumference and diameter of a circle, but it shows up in all kinds of places that seem to have nothing to do with circles, from music to quantum mechanics. Pi is an infinitely long decimal number that never repeats. How do we know? Well, humans have calculated it to 314 trillion decimal places and didn’t reach the end. At that point, I’m inclined to accept it. I mean, NASA uses only the first 15 decimal places for navigating spacecraft, and that’s more than enough for earthly applications. The coolest thing, for me, is that there are many ways to approximate that value, which I’ve written about in the past. For instance, you can do it by oscillating a mass on a spring. But maybe the craziest method of all was proven in 1777 by George Louis Leclerc, …

Chevy is dropping this Equinox EV option for the 2026 model year

Chevy is dropping this Equinox EV option for the 2026 model year

The Chevy Equinox EV is “America’s most affordable 315+ mile range EV” for a reason, right? For the 2026 model year, buyers will have one less exterior color option to choose from. The 2026 Chevy Equinox EV loses a color option Starting at under $35,000, GM still calls the 2026 Chevy Equinox EV “America’s most affordable 315+ mile range EV.” Even with the new 2027 Bolt EV and the 2026 Nissan LEAF, both starting under $30,000, the Equinox offers more driving range, up to 319 miles. In fact, GM is even offering a 20% discount on 2026 Chevy Equinox models this month, bringing the price down potentially to around $30,000 on some trims. Well, GM has to cut costs somewhere, and it looks like, for the Equinox EV, that apparently means one fewer paint color option for buyers. Advertisement – scroll for more content According to GM Authority, the Galaxy Gray Metallic exterior color is no longer available to order on 2026 Chevy Equinox models. While it’s still listed online in some areas, the available …

Robert Aramayo’s BAFTA-winning movie I Swear dropping on Netflix imminently

He’s been the talk of the town since Sunday’s BAFTA Film Awards, and now viewers are counting down the days until Leading Actor winner Robert Aramayo’s movie I Swear drops on Netflix.  The movie is based on the real life of John Davidson, a Tourette syndrome campaigner hailing from Scotland who has worked to raise awareness of his condition.  © Mike Marsland/WireImageRobert Aramayo won the Leading Actor Award for ‘I Swear’ and the EE Rising Star Award at the 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards I Swear has also become a huge topic of discussion after John, 54, appeared alongside Robert, 33, at the BAFTAs on Sunday to promote the film. During the ceremony, John could be heard shouting a racial slur as Sinners actors Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo were presenting the first award.  In a statement, John, who left the ceremony early, said he was “deeply mortified” by his involuntary verbal tics. “I chose to leave the auditorium early into the ceremony as I was aware of the distress my tics were causing,” he …

Tesla Avoids California Suspension By Dropping ‘Self-Driving’ Claims

Tesla Avoids California Suspension By Dropping ‘Self-Driving’ Claims

Authored by Rob Sabo via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours), Tesla Motors avoided a 30-day suspension of its dealer and manufacturer licenses from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) by removing the term “autopilot” from its vehicle marketing efforts in California. The Tesla booth at the AI+Expo Special Competitive Studies Project in Washington on June 2, 2025. Madalina Vasiliu/The Epoch Times According to a statement issued by the California DMV on Feb. 17, Tesla had marketed its full self-driving feature as essentially an autonomous driving feature. Although full self-driving is a hands-free feature, Tesla owners still need to actively supervise the operation of their vehicles. The DMV said Tesla had been marketing its advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) as a full driver-free autopilot feature since 2021 by including terms such as “autopilot” and “full self-driving capability” in marketing collateral and on its website. “The system is designed to be able to conduct short and long-distance trips with no action required by the person in the driver’s seat,” Tesla’s website formerly said. The California DMV …

Tesla avoids 30-day California sales suspension after dropping misleading ‘Autopilot’ marketing

Tesla avoids 30-day California sales suspension after dropping misleading ‘Autopilot’ marketing

New Tesla Model Y; via Tesla. Tesla has avoided a 30-day suspension of its dealer and manufacturer licenses in California after complying with a DMV order to stop using the term “Autopilot” in its vehicle marketing. The settlement closes a case that dragged on for nearly three years, and confirms what critics have argued all along: Tesla’s marketing of its driver-assist features was misleading. The case against Tesla’s ‘Autopilot’ and ‘Full Self-Driving’ marketing The California DMV first opened an investigation into Tesla’s marketing of “Autopilot” and “Full Self-Driving” back in 2021. The agency accused Tesla of misleading consumers by marketing advanced driver-assistance features under names that implied the vehicles could drive themselves. Specifically, beginning in May 2021, Tesla marketed its ADAS features with the phrase: “The system is designed to be able to conduct short and long-distance trips with no action required by the person in the driver’s seat.” The problem is that vehicles equipped with those features could not, and still cannot, operate as autonomous vehicles. The DMV filed formal accusations against Tesla’s manufacturer …

Yep, A24 Is Dropping a Marty Supreme Ping Pong Table

Yep, A24 Is Dropping a Marty Supreme Ping Pong Table

As is their wont, A24 has been pulling out all of the merchandising stops to promote Marty Supreme on its award-season run. There are few products the vaunted indie studio—which has made great merch a vital part of its marketing playbook for years now—hasn’t printed the Timothée Chalamet-led flick’s logo onto at this point. If you were one of the lucky few to cop a Marty Supreme jacket (arguably the most-hyped garment of 2025), good for you. Maybe you even scored yourself a Marty Mauser-fronted box of Wheaties. Until now, however, the ping-pong drama’s most obvious merch play of all had yet to materialize: Marty Supreme table tennis gear. Happily, A24 has finally righted that wrong. For $40, you can nab yourself an official Marty Supreme table tennis set, made in collaboration with Joola, which includes four movie-branded balls (in Marty Mauser orange, natch) and two USA-themed paddles. And, if you’re really jonesing to show off your Timmy standom, you can shell out $850 for the full Marty Supreme x Joola table tennis table, which …
