8 Easy Outfit Combos That Look Good On Every Man

8 Easy Outfit Combos That Look Good On Every Man

It’s the oldest trick in the sartorial playbook, but it’s also one of the most effective. Good layering is the style hack that separates the boys from the men, the good dressers from the great dressers. Sure, it sounds easy – just throw one thing on top of the other, right? – but in reality, layering is an art form. It’s a skill that requires a deep-rooted understanding of textures, colour and proportion… unless, of course, you have a cheat sheet to guide you through it. There are certain layering combos that always look good, no matter what. Things like a crisp white tee and black leather jacket, or an unstructured overcoat draped nonchalantly over a hoodie. These are foolproof pairings anyone can pull off with minimal effort and look as though they know exactly what they’re doing. With a few of these up your sleeve, you’ll always have outfits to fall back on – ones that you know work well. Below you’ll find a tightly edited selection of failsafe layering combos to default to …

This free app makes journaling so easy that I’ve managed to do it for 3 months

Jack Wallen/ZDNET Follow ZDNET: Add us as a preferred source on Google. ZDNET key takeaways Diarly is the best journaling app I’ve ever used. It makes journaling easy and actually pleasant. The app is available for all Apple devices. It’s been a rough year for me. So much so that I found myself needing to do something I thought that I’d never do… journal. Journaling for someone who writes for a living is like an auto mechanic working on their own car: they know they need to, but the idea of doing it, after a long day of working on other people’s cars, isn’t exactly their idea of fun. Also: 9 essential Mac apps everyone should be using in 2026 – and why I vouch for them But my therapist said journaling would be good for me, so I decided to give it a go. Initially, I struggled to do this, mostly because the journaling apps I’d tried might as well have just been glorified notepads or to-do lists. I wanted something that was not only dedicated …

Dating in your 40s isn’t easy. But I was willing to give it a try

Dating in your 40s isn’t easy. But I was willing to give it a try

Editor’s note: A version of this story, performed by the author, won the L.A. Affairs Live storytelling event on April 3. I am engaged. Which I didn’t think would ever happen. In my 40s, I was in love with someone. We lived together and had been together for seven years. I thought that would be my last relationship. Then he broke up with me, and I was suddenly dumped at 46. I was terrified that would be my last relationship. I don’t know if you’ve ever had the experience of being single in L.A. in your late 40s, but I don’t recommend it. None out of 10. All the thumbs down. It felt like missing the last helicopter out of ’Nam, as if I were running after couplehood as bombs went off around me and yelling, “Nnnnnooooooooooo!!” And I could add, “I know it’s not working out but don’t gggggooooooooo!!!” as I reached with all I had to not be left behind. I felt I had to concede: “Well, die alone it is, then.” I …

In the last 12 months, he and his colleagues have unearthed two ways to increase the health benefits of a simple stroll. Firstly, inject a bit of pace, and secondly, rack up more steps in a single bout. His first study looked at the health benefits of vigorous …

Flat-faced dogs often struggle to breathe easy

biology: The study of living things. The scientists who study them are known as biologists. brachycephalic: A term for skulls that are relatively broad and short. Typically, this type of skull will be at least four-fifths as wide as it is long. This Linux distro offers an easy DNS switcher – but there’s more to it that I like

Jack Wallen and Elyse Betters Picaro/ZDNET ZDNET’s key takeaways iDealOS is an MXLinux-based distribution. You’ll get an easy-to-use DNS switcher and content filtering in Firefox. There’s plenty of preinstalled software, so you can hit the ground running. Blink, and a new Linux distribution will have appeared on the market, which I find to be fantastic. Choice is good, and Linux embodies the spirit of choice on every conceivable level. Take, iDealOS. This MXLinux-based distribution opts for the KDE Plasma desktop (in favor of Xfce), and offers two different versions: Emerald and Diamond. The difference is: Emerald Edition is completely free and fully functional. Diamond Edition is available to anyone who supports the project with a small donation. This version includes preinstalled applications for producing audio, video, and images, and professional tools to support your business, your imagination, and your creativity. Also: The best Linux laptops As far as I can tell, there is no difference between the two editions, other than that the Diamond flavor makes it easy to donate to the project. After installing and …

3 Downsides of Being the “Easy” Partner

3 Downsides of Being the “Easy” Partner

The characteristic trait of being “easy to be with” is highly rewarded in our culture, particularly in adulthood. It’s what people say when they mean you’re agreeable, low-maintenance, flexible, emotionally regulated, and generally pleasant to exist around. When people give you this “compliment,” they’re often trying to appreciate the fact that you don’t make scenes or that you don’t demand too much. You’re the person others describe as “chill,” “understanding,” or “drama-free.” Frankly, there is real psychological skill in this. Emotional regulation, empathy, and flexibility are markers of high relational intelligence. Agreeable individuals are perceived as warmer, more likable, and easier collaborators. They experience fewer overt conflicts and are often socially preferred. But there’s a less discussed side to this identity. When “easy to be with” becomes a personality brand rather than a situational skill, it can come with hidden psychological costs that accumulate quietly and are often invisible to both the person and the people around said person. Some of the most internally distressed people are not the loud, difficult, or confrontational ones. They’re …

Poke makes using AI agents as easy as sending a text

Is Poke an OpenClaw for the rest of us? That’s the idea coming from a new startup offering an AI agent that you can access via iMessage, SMS, Telegram, and, in some markets, WhatsApp. The AI agent Poke launched publicly in March, allowing consumers to access a personal assistant that can take action on their behalf through a familiar interface. Today, Poke can help with everyday needs, like daily planning, managing your calendar, tracking your health and fitness, controlling your smart home, editing your photos, and more, all via text message. Image Credits:Poke/The Interaction Company of California While you may still interact with a general-purpose AI chatbot like ChatGPT or Claude when you have questions or want to do research, you’d turn to Poke when you want to get something done quickly, or when you want to automate some task to save you time. For instance, you could ask Poke to alert you to specific emails (like those from your family or your boss), or remind you in the morning if you need to take …
