Dylan Dreyer opened up about raising her three boys on TODAY’s Third Hour. The morning show anchor shared that “it’s not easy” being a newly single mom.
After her co-anchor, Craig Melvin, chatted with the bestselling author and podcast host Scott Galloway about the crisis facing young men, Dylan and Laura Jarrett got honest about what it’s like to raise boys.
Dylan, who officially filed for divorce from her husband of 12 years, Brian Fichera, in March 2026, is the mom to three sons – Calvin, nine, Oliver, six, and Rusty, five. While Laura is the mom of both a boy, James, six, and a girl, June, three.
© Instagram“The idea of ‘friction is a good thing’,” Laura chimed in, giving a nod to the advice Scott preaches on his podcast, adding: “Building resilience and how you do that [for your children]. You build it through them throwing obstacles and making them feel okay about it not being okay.”
Dylan jokingly chimed in: “The actual obstacle in front of Rusty yesterday was a marble table.” To which Laura responded: “He’s still with us though,” and Dylan added: “He’s stronger for it.”
Dylan Dreyer’s life as a single mom
In July 2025, The TV personality, who tied the knot with her husband in 2012, announced their decision to separate, revealing that they had actually split several months prior.
© Instagram“For many years, I have shared my family with you all – the highs and lows. The ups and downs. And all of the blessings and beautiful memories in between,” she wrote in an Instagram statement at the time.
“I am incredibly grateful for the support and love you’ve given me through it all. For that reason, I want to share with you that a few months ago, Brian and I made the decision to separate.”
© InstagramIn the eight months since Dylan announced her separation from Brian, her life has changed quite a bit. The mom-of-three moved into a new house at the end of 2025, telling Jenna Bush Hager while guest hosting Jenna & Friends: “I found this house, and it is so freeing to be renting again.”
Giving advice to fellow parents
At the beginning of April, Dylan launched her podcast The Parent Chat with Dylan Dreyer where she talks about the wild and messy world of parenting. During her first episode, she interviewed Ashley Graham and opened up about a recent conversation with her therapist.
© Instagram“I feel like I’m at a point right now where I don’t know what the next thing is – the next thing to get excited about,” Dylan shared. “Her therapist advised: “Think of all the things you prayed for and the things you wanted and you’re in that right now.”
Dylan emphasized: “Sometimes it’s just important to step back and appreciate all the prayers that were answered before you’re thinking, ‘what’s next, what’s next?'”
