My partner and I paid £2,150 for a week’s all-inclusive break in Marrakech with easyJet Holidays. We chose the Jaal Riad Resort Hotel because of its pool and spa. When we arrived, we were told that use of the heated pool cost £24 a person an hour, the Jacuzzi £24 for 20 minutes, and the hammam was £16 for 20 minutes. Nowhere were these extra fees listed when booking. EasyJet Holidays rejected my complaint and referred me to a line buried at the bottom of the list of facilities that said charges may apply. We were planning on using the pool regularly but could not afford it. If we had known, we would have booked elsewhere. DP, Cambridgeshire Hidden charges can hugely inflate the cost of holidays. Holidaymakers onboard an easyJet flight from the UK to the Canary Islands have been caught up in disruption involving 12 passengers. The incident happened on Thursday (June 11) when the plane was flying from London Gatwick to Tenerife. Full details are still emerging but it is known that the flight had to speed up its landing because of the situation. Air traffic controllers have confirmed 12 disruptive passengers were involved and the matter was so serious that the pilots had to call in help. On their X site, they confirmed: “By the dozens!” The crew of the flight from Gatwick arriving in South Tenerife said that they had 12 problematic passengers on board. They requested the presence of the police when the plane touched down on the tarmac at Tenerife South Airport. The traveller, who posts online as @sophiefamilytravel, shared the peculiar in-flight snack experience after purchasing the chocolate at Heathrow Airport. To add to the strangeness, the chocolate had taken on an odd cream colour, scattered with brown spots throughout. Visibly baffled by the state of the snack, the traveller filmed the moment and quipped: “POV: you’re flying easyJet and this is what your chocolate buttons look like.” Upon noticing the peculiar-looking treat, the passenger approached a member of the cabin crew to enquire whether the sweets were actually supposed to appear that way. The footage captured the crew member offering an awkward smile while shaking their head “no”, seemingly just as mystified by the whole situation. An EasyJet aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing in Rome at the weekend after a passenger’s luggage was identified as a potential fire hazard. The captain informed all 180 passengers on board that a prohibited item in the hold presented a serious risk and needed to be addressed on the ground. It has been reported that a passenger had left their mobile phone charging inside their checked baggage using a power bank. A woman is said to have alerted a flight attendant to the whereabouts of her power bank, prompting the plane to be diverted owing to the risk of fire. The emergency landing took place at 11.30pm on Saturday, May 23. Passengers were reportedly put up in hotel rooms, although some opted to spend the night in the airport terminal, as the next available EasyJet flight back to the UK was not until 2pm the following day (May 24). The airline shared the message on X after a customer with a flight booked for May to Europe asked about its jet fuel supply. The X user, called Tash, asked EasyJet: “Hi, I’m due to fly out to Malta on May 12th, how likely is it that it’ll be cancelled due to fuel shortage?” EasyJet replied: “Thank you for reaching out. We were organising our wedding for this June when the happiest period of our lives became a nightmare. Our two-year-old daughter was diagnosed with an aggressive grade 4 brain tumour requiring immediate life-saving surgeries. The prognosis is devastating. Amid the grief, we have been consoled by the compassion from companies large and small. Every business connected with our wedding, including the accommodation provider for my stag trip, has overridden their terms and conditions and offered a full refund. But not easyJet. My best man had booked the flights, totalling £4,000, for the 14 of us attending the stag do, but easyJet has refused his request for a credit note so we can postpone. The hospital provided a letter explaining the severity and rarity of the tumour, but easyJet’s “compassionate resolution” was the offer of a voucher for my fare only, and a refund of the tax element of the others.
