Organisers said Miettinen, who was 66 years old, died ​after a crash that stopped the race after about half an hour of the scheduled four hours. All the other drivers were taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. In early 2023, Hunter Doohan got a text out of the blue from Bryan Cranston. Doohan, best known for his work in Netflix’s Wednesday, had played Cranston’s son on the Apple series Your Honor. Now Cranston wanted to know if he could share Doohan’s number with Cranston’s Breaking Bad co-star Aaron Paul. For Doohan, a die-hard Breaking Bad fan, the answer was an emphatic yes. Doohan and Paul had never met, but the pair had a connection beyond Cranston: Doohan played a younger version of Paul’s character in Apple’s Truth Be Told. Paul was producing a small indie called The Wilderness, and wanted to get in touch with Doohan about the lead role. The feature takes place in Utah at a wilderness retreat for teen boys who struggled with addiction. The program is led by an enigmatic program director, James (Sam Jaeger), who may have dark intentions. JAKARTA: Indonesia has entered an agreement with India to procure the BrahMos missile system, its defence ministry spokesperson Rico Ricardo Sirait told Reuters on Monday (Mar 9). In 2023, BrahMos, a company co-owned by the Indian and Russian governments, told Reuters it was in advanced discussions with Jakarta on a deal worth US$200 million to US$350 million. Rico on Monday said the agreement was “part of the modernisation of military hardware and defence capabilities, especially in the maritime sector”. He added that the procurement further strengthens Indonesia and India’s strategic partnership in the defence field, reported local news outlet Jakarta Globe. The new system is also expected to “boost deterrence capabilities in safeguarding national sovereignty”.  Rico declined to confirm the total value of the agreement, when asked if the total price tag for the missiles remained at US$450 million, which was reported by South China Morning post in December last year.  BrahMos clinched its first foreign deal with the Philippines, Indonesia’s Southeast Asian neighbour, in 2022. SINGAPORE: Two Malaysian men who repeatedly entered Singapore and withdrew about S$1 million (US$792,000) in scam proceeds between them were sentenced to jail on Friday (Mar 6). Chang Yang, 23, was given four years and four months’ jail, while Ivan Thong Yoong Khean, 27, will be imprisoned for four years. The pair had admitted to conspiring with each other to withdraw S$403,020 from 24 bank accounts between May 2024 and December 2024. Another two charges each were considered in sentencing. On top of the shared sum, Chang withdrew another S$371,850 and Thong withdrew another S$255,620. Thong had taken up a “job opportunity” from an acquaintance as he was unable to pay back a loan he had taken. He was added to Telegram group chats, which Chang subsequently joined after owing RM100,000 (S$32,200) to a creditor. The chats disseminated weekly duty rosters which assigned two people to enter Singapore on certain days to perform cash withdrawals. Part of the appeal of the book was, for folks who only know Tucker Carlson post-2017, introducing them to this guy who you probably would’ve liked a lot if you had read him back in the Weekly Standard days, or knew he was the person who made Rachel Maddow’s television career. I liked presenting a fuller picture of him that is not a caricature. Tucker and Kristol are sort of like the tale of two conservatives. Yeah. I think that’s right. I mean, Kristol’s not a conservative anymore. He’s a Biden voter. Yeah, and there’s something about that.… I don’t necessarily think that’s a positive, to change your whole worldview that dramatically just because of Donald Trump. The Steve Hayes, Jonah Goldberg project to me is pretty interesting because they’re still conservative, but they’re not Trumpy, and maybe there’s no such thing anymore as being a conservative without Trump.
