Scotland’s First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, is interviewed, May 17, 2022, in Washington. Ian Blackford stunned online critics after he came up with a strange explanation for former first minister of ScotlandNicola Sturgeon’s ignorance about her estranged husband’s embezzlement crimes. Peter Murrell, chief executive of the Scottish National Party between 2001 and 2023, pleaded guilty to taking more than £400,000 from the SNP this week. He has been charged with embezzling funds from the party between August 2010 and October 2022. Murrell was arrested as part of Operation Branchform, a Police Scotland probe into the party’s finances, in 2023, and charged in April 2024.  He has been remanded in custody and is set to be sentenced at the end of June. He made a series of extravagant purchases while he was SNP chief, including a £124,550 campervan for his own personal use. His estranged wife Sturgeon was also arrested in 2024 and questioned by detectives, but was never charged with any offences. According to multiple reports, the couple held an intimate ceremony in Florida before planning a separate gathering on a private island in the Bahamas. The smaller scale and limited guest list stood in contrast to earlier Trump family weddings, which were often staged as high-visibility events at Mar-a-Lago with extensive political and social attendance. The wedding drew broader public attention, however, because of who was not present. President Donald Trump confirmed he did not attend, citing government obligations and ongoing international tensions involving Iran. Almost a third of us wake up in the middle of the night at least three times a week Even though I have insomnia, my problem doesn’t actually lie in getting to sleep.  I nod off just fine, but my problem is staying in dreamland. For 15 years now, the expanding Universe hasn’t added up. A comparison to Planck, which uses the early relic method instead of the distance ladder method, is also shown. At the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom conference in downtown San Francisco Wednesday, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said his company’s recent investments in OpenAI and Anthropic are likely to be its last in both, saying that once they go public as anticipated later this year, the opportunity to invest closes. It could be that simple. While firms sometimes pile into companies until practically the eve of their public debut in search of more upside, Nvidia is minting money selling the chips that power both companies — it’s not like it needs to goose its returns by pouring even more money into either one. Nvidia, for its part, isn’t offering much elaboration. Asked for comment earlier today following Huang’s remarks, a spokesman pointed TechCrunch to a transcript from the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call, where Huang said all of Nvidia’s investments are “focused very squarely, strategically on expanding and deepening our ecosystem reach,” a goal its earlier stakes in both companies have arguably met.
