I walk 100km a month testing walking shoes and my favorite budget-friendly shoe is now under $60

Outdoor brand Columbia has been growing in my estimation with every product I’ve tried. Despite being quite reasonably priced, everything I try is high-quality and built to last. The first thing I ever tested was the Columbia Konos TRS shoe, which features in my guide to the best walking shoes as my best pick for those on a budget. The price is already a reasonable $100, but you can now get yourself a pair for under $60 at Amazon. It should be obvious to anyone looking at my walking shoe guide that I am fussy about footwear. I demand comfort, cushioning and durability from my walking shoes and if they don’t meet my standards, I won’t recommend them. The Columbia Konos exceeded my expectations in every way. For the price, I expected cheap materials, thin soles and no bounce underfoot whatsoever. Instead, I found it to be comfortable, well-cushioned and to have surprisingly high energy return for what is technically a trail shoe. I wear my Konos everywhere. It is comfortable enough for city stomps …

An Über-Stylish LA Painter’s Favorite Cologne, Watch, and Leaf Blower

An Über-Stylish LA Painter’s Favorite Cologne, Watch, and Leaf Blower

This is Men of Taste, a GQ column about stuff, as recommended by the people in our world who go to great lengths to find the best things. “I’m a living contradiction,” contemporary artist Friedrich Kunath says, reflecting on the wild spectrum of items he holds dearest. When it comes to his stuff, the 51-year-old German-born painter resents the reality of having to own a single thing at all. He suggests that the only must-have possession he can recommend to his fellow man is the “inner freedom not to own anything.” And yet, he acknowledges the meticulously researched and highly personal nature of his own favorite things—and how integral they are to his practice. There are the Wilson Audio Sasha speakers he treasures and uses to fill his Los Angeles studio space with the sonic wonder of Italo disco and Peso Pluma. There’s his Aston Martin Lagonda, beloved by Kunath for the innovative heel-digging it took to produce. And of course there are the scents he uses as creative stimuli, bathing each of the handful …

Our Favorite Video Doorbell Is $40 Off

Tired of solicitors knocking on your front door trying to sell you junk while you’re relaxing? You can grab the Google Nest Doorbell, our favorite video doorbell, from Amazon for just $140, a $40 discount from its usual price, and turn them away without getting off the couch. This attractive and elegant video doorbell has a variety of smart features, full Google integration, and hooks up to a powered source so you never have to charge the battery. I have the wireless version at home and found it extremely useful for spotting packages, talking to neighbors, or just snooping on my house while I’m away. Photograph: Julian Chokkattu Photograph: Julian Chokkattu Google Nest Doorbell (Wired, 3rd Gen) The video quality is excellent, with a huge 166-degree field of view that easily captures both your front yard and any packages that might be sitting on the ground close to the door. If you have other Nest displays, like the Nest Hub, they’ll show video alerts, and you can even turn on automatic picture-in-picture on your Google …

One Of Our Favorite 360 Cams Is 35 Percent Off

Tired of taking your action camera on an adventure, only to get home and found out you missed the action with a bad angle? One option is to switch to a 360-degree action cam, so you can capture all of the action and then edit down to just the good stuff later. One of our favorite options, the DJI Osmo 360, is currently available for just $390 on Amazon, a $209 discount from its usual price, and includes a selfie stick and an extra battery. The DJI Osmo 360 achieves its impressive all-around video quality by leveraging a pair of 1/1.1-inch sensors, larger than some other offerings, and by supporting 10-bit color. You can really see that in the camera’s output, with colors that are vivid and bold, to the point you may need to dial them back a bit in post if you want something more natural. With support for up to 50 FPS at 8K when recording in 360 degrees, or 120 FPS at 4K when shooting with only one sensor, you’ll have …

That will be the last to feature Tomlinson, who has become a fan favorite after joining the show three seasons ago. “It is with humility and a heavy heart that I share I will not be partaking in Season 5,” Tomlinson told Variety. “I feel like three seasons is enough to tell my story and find love on my own time.” He joked: “I’ve chosen to pass the torch to the next person who can make it as big as me.” Connor Tomlinson is departing Netflix’s ‘Love on the Spectrum’ after three seasons (Rodin Eckenroth/Getty Images) …

Our Favorite iPad Is Off

Our Favorite iPad Is $50 Off

Need a new tablet for your casual couch surfing sessions? There are a variety of options out there, but we think most people will be happy with the standard 11-inch model from 2025. You can grab it right now at Amazon for just $300, a $50 discount from its usual price. Photograph: Brenda Stolyar Photograph: Brenda Stolyar The outside of the iPad hasn’t changed all that much in the few years since it was updated last, with the screen growing a barely noticeable 0.1 inches and the standard USB-C port and selfie camera, plus Touch ID built into the power button. Most of the changes affect the inside of the tablet, including a major processor upgrade to the A16 chip and storage that mean this tablet is much snappier and more responsive than the 2022 version. There’s twice as much storage, with 128 GB as a baseline and up to 512GB on the upgraded model, so you won’t need to keep deleting apps to make room for more movies. While it does have the A16 …

Study Find Someone’s Favorite Music Often Reveals Intelligence Level

Study Find Someone’s Favorite Music Often Reveals Intelligence Level

Musical taste may give insights into someone’s personality and taste, but what about intelligence? A new study sought to answer that very question and actually found that a person’s everyday music might actually reveal how intelligent they are. The study used a novel approach to show that higher intelligence is associated with the type of music people listen to, using participants’ digital footprints and intelligence-testing tools accessed through an app. The researchers followed 850 participants aged 18-65 and found that listening to a particular type of music will not suddenly make you smarter; rather, smart people tend to have particular musical tastes. Researchers stressed that there is a link between intelligence and the type of music people listen to, but it’s not in the rhythm or bass; it’s the lyrics that are the true marker for intelligence.  Study finds you can usually tell how smart someone is by their favorite type of music: People who prefer sad lyrics and ‘less positive emotional tones’ usually have higher IQs. Gaston Glock Made the World’s Favorite Gun. His Death Intensified a Succession Drama Fit for Hollywood.

Gaston Glock Made the World’s Favorite Gun. His Death Intensified a Succession Drama Fit for Hollywood.

A few months after the March memorial—in parallel to a posthumous 95th birthday party for Gaston, again leaving out his offspring—Kathrin posted on Instagram. Under the same portrait that had appeared in Ferlach, she wrote in English: “You’ll forever be my rock, my soulmate, my husband and my best friend. Happy birthday my darling! I will always love you. ❤️” Kathrin often dresses in black: close-fitting Gucci jackets, an Alexander McQueen knuckle duster box clutch, Fiorentini + Baker leather biker boots. On social media, where she posts regularly, Kathrin once responded to the suggestion that she resembles the bad guy in a James Bond film with “I’m not a villain…🤣👍😉” Kathrin married Gaston in 2011, when she was in her early 30s and he was over 80, just after he had divorced his wife of decades, Helga, with whom he had built the company. At Kathrin and Gaston’s wedding, the maid of honor was a woman named Inge Unzeitig, then 76, who is the proprietor of the Hotel Palais Porcia, at the eastern end of …

George Cortina Stylist; frequent GQ contributor; occasional Chateau Marmont resident George’s dose of reality for baby New Yorkers: “I’ve been living here since 1981 and it’s a completely different city than it was when I first moved here. Culturally, it’s different. Everything’s changed. New York went from feeling like you lived in paradise to feeling like you live in Akron, Ohio. “I maintain hope that the younger generation will wake up—and some of them are. Some people are very happy to be middle-of-the-road, but I like people that make waves, who fight for things. People that really hold what they do—whatever they do in any creative capacity—dear.” Luka Sabbat Model; founder, menswear brand Marking Distance; frequent GQ subject and sometime GQ stylist What excites Luka about fashion right now: “I like looking good, right? I wake up every morning and I put on an outfit and make myself look good. And I love making other people look good too. It’s like playing dress-up on a professional level. I pull vintage, I pull archive. I’m not …

Our 7 Favorite Humidifiers for Home, Travel & More (2026)

Compare Our Picks Recommended With Reservations Photograph: Lisa Wood Shapiro Carepod Mini for $150: When turned on, the Carepod Mini looks like a Brita Filter that’s also an electric tea kettle. And you’ll think this too because of the Carepod’s unique oscillator that moves the water around inside the clear plastic tank. And unlike the larger stainless steel parts of the larger Carepod models, the Carepod Mini is not dishwasher safe. However, like all Carepod models, the Mini doesn’t have a filter because Carepod recommends using filtered water, putting the water-purifying duties on the user. I would prefer a model with a filter option. Still, the Mini is easy to clean with mild soap and water, unlike some humidifiers that require special descaling solutions. I like what Carepod is trying to do in the humidifier market space, but I almost tipped the whole thing over when I instinctively picked it up by the handle that only lifts up the top part. Still, I found the percolating water effect to be soothing and it does a …
