‘Ted Lasso’ Star Cristo Fernández Signs With Professional Soccer Team

Life is officially imitating art for Dani Rojas from Ted Lasso. Cristo Fernández, who stars as the beloved AFC Richmond forward in the hit Apple TV+ series led by Jason Sudeikis, has signed a professional soccer contract in real life with El Paso Locomotive FC, the USL Championship club unveiled Tuesday on X. The deal’s terms and length were not disclosed, and it is still pending league and federation approval. Fernández joins the second-division U.S. club after a two-month trial.  “The rumors were true. Welcome to El Paso, Cristo Fernández,” the team wrote. “Fútbol has always been a huge part of my life and identity, and no matter where life has taken me, the dream of competing professionally never truly left my heart,” Fernández said in a statement on the club’s website. “I’m incredibly grateful to El Paso Locomotive FC — the club, coaches, staff and especially my teammates — for opening the doors and giving me the opportunity to compete from day one.”  Head coach Junior Gonzalez added: “Cristo is a great addition to …

Rosenior refuses to respond to Fernandez agent’s comments as Chelsea hit seven

Good evening and welcome to our next instalment of the FA Cup quarter-finals as Chelsea host Port Vale at Stamford Bridge. It’s the club sixth in the Premier League versus the side rooted to the bottom of the third tier. As we’ve just returned from an international break, you would assume it was a quiet week for Chelsea? Well, it’s been quite the opposite. Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior confirmed that Enzo Fernandez has been given a two-game ban because of his controversial comments regarding his future, meaning he will miss this match and next week’s league meeting with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. Following the demoralising 8-2 aggregate defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, vice-captain Fernandez plunged his Chelsea future into doubt, telling ESPN Argentina he didn’t know if he would stay at the club. In the international break, he fuelled Real Madrid links by saying: “I really like Madrid – it’s similar to Buenos Aires.” Marc Cucurella was also vocal in the media, criticising Chelsea’s ownership and questioning the club’s project. The …

Fernandez completes dramatic Chelsea comeback against West Ham as Rosenior gets it right in the end

West Ham have won just once in their last 19 Premier League visits to Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea strong favourites to continue their promising start to life under Liam Rosenior. Chelsea’s head coach would become just the fourth Englishman to win his first three Premier League games as a manager, and a victory would take Rosenior’s side above Manchester United in fourth. West Ham looked well and truly doomed after the home defeat by Nottingham Forest, but have staged an unlikely revival with back-to-back wins against Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland. Nuno Espirito Santo appears to have concluded that attack is the best form of defence, with January signings Pablo and Taty Castellanos flanked by Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville. This London derby has a rich history, including within the Rosenior family. Liam’s dad Leroy was red carded in a game between the teams at West Ham’s former Upton Park home in May 1988 when, having already scored twice, he grabbed the throat of Chelsea’s Steve Clarke. “I was there,” said Rosenior. “I know what it …
