‘Carry on, patriots’: Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth reverses Army suspension for helicopter crew that flew by Kid Rock’s home

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Tuesday lifted the suspensions of a group of helicopter pilots who were pulled from duty after flying near MAGA musician Kid Rock’s Nashville-area home over the weekend. “Thank you Kid Rock,” Hegseth wrote on X. “[U.S. Army] pilots suspension LIFTED. No punishment. No investigation. Carry on, patriots.” Earlier in the day, the Army announced the helicopter pilots who flew near the singer’s home had been suspended. “The personnel involved have been suspended from flight duties while the Army reviews the circumstances surrounding the mission, including compliance with relevant FAA regulations, aviation safety protocol, and approval requirements,” Army Spokesman Maj. Montrell Russell said in a statement to The Independent. “Since the investigation is ongoing, it would be inappropriate to discuss specific findings at this time.” The flight involved two Apache helicopters from the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade stationed at Fort Campbell, the official said. A pair of military helicopters flew near the home of MAGA musician Kid Rock on Saturday. Crews on both flights were initially suspended, though the suspension was …

The Army did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday evening about the lifted suspensions or that review. Evil stepdad shakes partner’s baby to death – flew into rage after row with ex | UK | News

Jensen-Lee Dougal died in 2024 (Image: PA) A man who brutally shook his baby stepson to death in an appalling and merciless attack has been jailed for at least 19 years. Thomas Morgan, 29, murdered five-month-old Jensen-Lee Dougal at the family home in Swansea when he became angry following an argument with his ex-girlfriend. At Swansea Crown Court on Wednesday, Mrs Justice Stacey said Morgan had shaken Jensen-Lee in a violent attack that left him with extensive injuries. The court previously heard the baby died in hospital after suffering catastrophic brain damage, numerous fractures and extensive retinal bleeding to both of his eyes. Thomas Morgan who has been jailed for at least 19 years (Image: PA) Morgan had been in a relationship with Jensen-Lee’s mother, Jordan Dougal, and was treated as the baby’s stepfather at the time of the murder. Caroline Rees KC, prosecuting, said Morgan “seriously abused the trust placed in him” by shaking Jensen-Lee in an “extremely violent attack” on March 30, 2024, the day before he died. Morgan had argued with Georgia …

Alexander Skarsgård Showed Toe—And Flew Too Close to the Sun

Alexander Skarsgård Showed Toe—And Flew Too Close to the Sun

On the beige, corporate-feeling red carpet at the Sundance Film Festival over the weekend, actor Alexander Skarsgård stood out not for his towering stature or overt flashes of kinkwear, the latter of which has become a bit of an expectation for the six-foot-four Swede’s press-tour style. Instead, the actor dizzyingly deployed a handful of trends in one overly mish-mashed outfit that also happened to be head-to-toe Valentino. The actor, who was in town to promote his role in the upcoming Charli XCX mockumentary The Moment, wore look 16 from the label’s pre-fall collection: khakis and a mustard button-up fastened with a busy necktie that featured a pastel, chintzy-wallpaper-type floral print. (Rococo gaudiness is a sensibility the Italian brand’s current creative director, Alessandro Michele, weaves into his designs rather elegantly, usually to an indie-punk, borrowed-from-the-girls effect.) On top, he layered on not one but two of-the-moment jackets: a Marty Supreme windbreaker-esque track jacket and a khaki trench coat. Given that the intentionally cluttered look was a direct replica of Valentino’s editorial styling, the ensemble, perhaps counterintuitively, …

On Atheism’s Watch, Rationality in Science Flew Out the Window

As the discussion surges around that new French book, God, the Science, the Evidence (2025) — which just dropped in English translation — some reactions are predictable. Evolutionary biologist Jerry Coyne offers at Why Evolution Is True, “How do you keep your faith when all around you people are leaving it? You write a book decrying materialism, which of course, like all such books (as well as those recounting “visits to heaven”) become bestsellers due to the many believers desperate for ‘proof of God.’” Coyne knows just enough to get it all wrong Religious interest and commitment is currently surging in the Western world, both among everyday folk and famous intellectuals. The big problem people face today is not snatching at straws but discerning the wheat from the chaff. How that’ll affect the hardline atheism Coyne espouses is anyone’s guess. But here’s the thing: the question probably matters much less than it used to. The rest of us look out on a world where science itself is being deplatformed by Woke relativism, platformed by the …
