Samsung continues to push the boundaries of foldable phone technology with its Galaxy Z Flip series, and the anticipated Galaxy Z Flip 8 could represent a significant step forward. While the series has consistently delivered innovative features, a recently uncovered patent suggests the Galaxy Z Flip 8 might introduce a dual external display, a feature that could redefine how foldable devices are used. This potential innovation raises both excitement and questions about its practicality and impact on the user experience. What Is the Dual External Display Concept? The dual external display concept, as described in the patent, envisions a unique design that integrates two external screens: a circular display embedded within a larger wraparound screen. This layered approach could serve multiple purposes, enhancing both functionality and convenience. Some potential applications include: Using the circular display for quick tasks like checking the time, notifications, or weather updates. Flip it and reverse it: what JFK Jr’s backwards cap signals today | Fashion

Within the first 20 minutes of Love Story, Ryan Murphy’s new take on the often tumultuous relationship between John F Kennedy Jr and Carolyn Bessette, the youngest son of the former US president is depicted wearing five different caps. They include a Kangol flat cap as he cycles to a newspaper kiosk in uptown NYC to read the latest headlines about himself, a Yankees cap as he runs topless on a treadmill and a navy baseball cap as he joins his mother, Jacqueline, for dinner, where she promptly reminds him “no hats at the table, please”. For Kennedy Jr, hounded by the paparazzi and tabloid press who nicknamed him “The Hunk” and more often than not “The Hunk Who Flunked”, you might think this penchant for peaked caps was thanks to the fact that they let him go somewhat incognito. But he preferred to wear his backwards, pulling the cap downwards over his signature flop of lush black hair, and leaving his full face on view. Just like silk slip dresses from Calvin Klein were …

Epstein Ally Was Talking To Feds About Flip, Wanted $3 Million To Keep Quiet, Then Backed Off Deal

French modeling agent Jean-Luc Brunel – whose network delivered new girls from around the world to Jeffrey Epstein on a regular basis, was prepared in 2016 to tell U.S. prosecutors what he knew about Epstein’s sex-trafficking operation. According to newly released files from the DOJ, the now-deceased Brunel’s lawyer was negotiating with attorneys for Epstein’s victims about a possible meeting with federal prosecutors in New York in exchange for immunity – and Epstein knew it. How Taylor Rehmet upset a MAGA candidate to flip a North Texas Senate district

How Taylor Rehmet upset a MAGA candidate to flip a North Texas Senate district

In September 2024, Texas Rep. Ramón Romero was at a fundraiser in Fort Worth for Kamala Harris when he met a young labor leader named Taylor Rehmet. The Air Force veteran and union machinist told Romero he was mulling a run for public office. A lot of people think about running, Romero recounted telling him, but he offered to help should Rehmet actually file. The two stayed in touch, and Rehmet decided last summer to run in a special election for a ruby red Texas Senate district in Tarrant County that no Democrat had represented in nearly half a century and that President Donald Trump won by more than 17 points in 2024. When Romero mobilized to help Rehmet court Latino voters — many of them from the same Fort Worth neighborhoods he represents in the House — he saw a serious first-time candidate meeting power brokers, talking to voters on front porches and running a long-shot bid like he could win it. On Saturday, Rehmet did win it, in part thanks to a spike …

Apple is Exploring an ‘iPhone Flip’

Apple is Exploring an ‘iPhone Flip’

Apple is “exploring” the idea of a foldable iPhone with a “square, clamshell-style” design, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. A so-called “iPhone Flip” — unlikely to be the real name — would compete with devices such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the modern-day Motorola Razr. The clamshell iPhone would be released at some point after Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which is expected to launch in September this year. The first foldable iPhone is expected to open up like a book, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. This design will provide users with a large 7.7-inch inner display for watching videos and gaming, and there will likely be multitasking functionality. A clamshell iPhone, on the other hand, would be more about portability and pocketability. “Apple is betting that its first foldable iPhone will be successful enough to generate real demand for the category and that customers will want additional shapes and sizes, much as they have with traditional slab-style iPhones,” said Gurman. Nevertheless, he said a clamshell iPhone is “far from guaranteed to reach the …

Scientists use ultrafast laser to flip materials into a different electronic state

Scientists use ultrafast laser to flip materials into a different electronic state

A burst of invisible light can do more than illuminate a surface. In a new study, Michigan State University researchers used an ultrafast laser to gently jolt atoms in a quantum material, then watched the surface change in real time. The shift lasted only while the laser stayed on, but it was enough to flip the material into a different electronic state, like a tiny switch you can turn on and off. The work centers on a layered material called tungsten ditelluride, shortened to WTe2. It has drawn attention for its unusual behavior at the smallest scales. Those surprising traits could matter for future devices, from smaller electronics to parts used in next-generation quantum computers. The team’s approach blended two sides of modern physics. One group built the instrument and ran the experiments. Another group used computer modeling to explain what the atoms were doing and why it changed the material’s behavior.
