Features like progress indicators and rewards, designed to encourage engagement, are commonplace in popular apps such as MyFitnessPal and Noom. However, as these digital dieting tools become increasingly prevalent, some researchers are sounding the alarm, suggesting that such gamified elements could pose significant risks for certain individuals.
