Graham said in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity that she will run in next month’s special primary election to appear on the November ballot. “I’ve made a decision,” Graham said in a clip released on X. “I’m in.” “I’ve been praying a lot, talking to my family. But with the love of my family, with the support of his staff, I know I’m a hard worker. I learned that from Lindsey. He cared about the people of this state. I’ve worked for almost 30 years for the people of this state,” Graham said. “I feel like I can do it. I feel an inner peace about it. Will it be difficult? Russell Fry is the latest Republican in the state to throw his name in the ring to fill the late Lindsey Graham’s Senate seat, as Graham’s sister, Darline, mulls a run and other hopefuls vie to win the race for a full six-year term. Fry, in a statement posted to X on Monday, announced he’d run in a special primary election, scheduled for Aug. 11, setting the table for an intraparty clash that includes Rep. Ralph Norman. Darline Graham, who was appointed last week to fill the role on an interim basis through the end of the year, earned President Donald Trump’s endorsement on Friday, but has not announced whether she’ll seek the party’s nomination. We’ll nuke the filibuster, and I will be a vocal, a vocal vote and a supporter to make this happen,” Norman told Fox News. Norman acknowledged that Trump has backed Lindsey Graham’s sister, Sen. Darline Graham, R-S.C., in the race. She was sworn into the Senate earlier this week after GOP Gov. Henry McMaster appointed her to serve out the rest of the late senator’s term, just days after he died suddenly last weekend. On Friday, Trump urged Darline Graham to seek a full term in …

Maine progressives hold edge in race to replace Graham Platner

Maine progressives hold edge in race to replace Graham Platner

In Maine, sexual assault allegations against former Senate nominee Graham Platner prompted his abrupt exit from the race against Sen. Susan Collins. His departure has kicked off an impromptu race for the Democratic Senate nomination that could well be resolved before the convention even takes place, as campaigns make last-minute pushes to elect their preferred slate of delegates at the county level — and progressives believe they have the advantage. In the primary election, Platner won 71% of the vote running on a progressive platform, including campaign finance reform, universal healthcare, ending mass deportations and ending billionaire welfare, among a broad slate of other policies. He also enjoyed the endorsement of prominent party leaders like Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. However, his campaign was dogged by scandal, most notably including the revelation that he had a Totenkopf tattoo and allegations of “unsettling” behavior from past girlfriends. Platner also faced questions from fellow progressives regarding the time he spent employed as a security contractor associated with the mercenary force Blackwater. Last week, …
