The Best July 4 Grill and Griddle Deals: Weber, Traeger, Recteq

The Best July 4 Grill and Griddle Deals: Weber, Traeger, Recteq

This said, the $100 price cut is the same on both sizes. So, the best deal outright is certainly on the 2-burner version, down to just $699 for the 4th of July weekend. Note that while there’s no sale, Traeger released a lower-budget griddle line called Irontop this year. I’ve been testing it and have found that the wind shielding is better than on the more expensive version. The same goes for the stability of the griddle legs. The cook plate is the same, but the simplified burner design means there are much more notable hotspots, largely toward the front of the griddle above the burners. In trade, a whopping 36-inch, 4-burner Irontop is a mere $599. Weber Spirit E-210 for $399 ($50 Off) Weber Spirit E-210 Gas Grill The Weber Spirit 200 series has been WIRED’s pick for years as the best gas grill for most people. It’s simple, compact, and affordable. The temp is even. The propane levels are easy to adjust. Like a lot of Webers, the accessory and snap-on options are …

The 5 Best Outdoor Griddles and Flat Top Grills (2026)

The 5 Best Outdoor Griddles and Flat Top Grills (2026)

A big outdoor griddle can change what summer feels like. And the best flat-top grills can make dinner feel like an event to be proud of. What’s a more satisfying sound than the slap of a spatula onto the chopped onions and rib eye meant for a perfect cheesesteak? The blister of corn tortillas cooked in the grease left by hard-seared carne asada? The smash of a burger at a backyard barbecue? The blessed evenness of pancakes cooked on a well-seasoned griddle plate? All you need is a great griddle to set you up for success. An outdoor gas griddle is an essential backyard counterpart to the satisfying direct heat of a high-performing charcoal or wood-fired grill—adding all the versatility of your favorite diner to your sunny-day toolkit. I’ve spent months cooking dozens of smashburgers, bacon strips, tacos, and pancakes to find the best outdoor griddle for each kind of backyard cook. Now, I find myself using the griddle more than a classic grill. My top-rated Traeger Flatrock ($1,000) offers the most even and reliable …

DOD officials say Iran war has cost $25 billion so far during Congressional grilling : NPR

The Pentagon says that the cost of the war with Iran is estimated to be some $25 billion. Defense officials were appearing on the Hill for budget discussions. JUANA SUMMERS, HOST: Twenty-five billion dollars – that’s how much the Pentagon estimates the war with Iran is costing. That figure came up today during a hearing on the Hill on the Pentagon’s $1.45 trillion budget request. But the questions, they weren’t just about the costs. They were about the rationale for the war itself and just how it might end. For more, we turn now to NPR Pentagon correspondent Tom Bowman. Hi there. TOM BOWMAN, BYLINE: Hey, Juana. SUMMERS: Tom, what’d you learn today? BOWMAN: Well, this is the first hearing involving Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine since the war started back in February. And again, for the first time, we have a cost estimate from Pentagon officials – $25 billion for the war that is now entering its third month. Secretary Hegseth talked about the overall budget request for …

Who is ‘cravat man’? Neckwear steals the show in Olly Robbins parliamentary grilling | Politics

It was blockbuster viewing for politicos across the country: the livestreamed grilling of Olly Robbins. While the sacked Foreign Office civil servant was billed as the star of the show, for many he was upstaged by a well-dressed man wearing a cravat. “I’ve got a big collection,” said Andrew Edwards, the scene stealer in question. His appearance in the background of parliament’s foreign affairs select committee on Tuesday provoked many questions. Who is he and why is he rocking a cravat? The answer to the latter question is actually quite simple. “I’m a sad person. They save the dirt around your neck from getting on to your shirt collar. I like to have my collars white and smart,” he said. Edwards owns cravats in many colours, his favourites being red, blue and green. The look was completed by a red pocket handkerchief. He has often found himself in the company …

Mullin takes Senate grilling, makes case for top job at DHS

Mullin takes Senate grilling, makes case for top job at DHS

Markwayne Mullin dodged a slew of pointed, personal questions during his confirmation hearing for the post of Secretary of Homeland Security on Wednesday. The Republican senator from Oklahoma defended the policies of Donald Trump, calling the president “a friend,” in the midst of a grilling from his fellow lawmakers. Trump tapped Mullin for the job following the ouster of Kristi Noem. Mullin has been a staunch loyalist for Trump. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called Mullin “extraordinarily qualified” for the role shortly after Noem was fired. Facing the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs, Mullin ran into trouble straightaway. Chairman Rand Paul, R-Ky, laid into Mullin for questioning Paul’s loyalty to the Republican Party. Mullin has called Paul ” a freaking snake” for breaking with Trump on key issues. He added that he empathized with a neighbor of Paul’s who assaulted the senator in 2017. “I just wonder if someone who applauds violence against their political opponents is the right person to lead an agency that has struggled to accept limits to …

Elizabeth Frantz | Reuters Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Wednesday appeared before the House Judiciary Committee for nearly seven hours, her second straight day of grilling by lawmakers on Capitol Hill. The House Republican caucus is generally in a tighter lockstep with President Donald Trump than their counterparts in the Senate. Here are five takeaways from Noem’s day before the House Judiciary panel: Read more CNBC politics coverage 1. Jacquelyn Martin/AP hide caption toggle caption Jacquelyn Martin/AP WASHINGTON — Former President Bill Clinton told members of Congress on Friday that he “did nothing wrong” in his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and saw no signs of Epstein’s sexual abuse as he faced hours of grilling from lawmakers over his connections to the disgraced financier from more than two decades ago. “I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong,” the former Democratic president said in an opening statement he shared on social media. The closed-door deposition ended after more than six hours of questioning from lawmakers who said he answered every question posed to him. The deposition in the Clintons’ hometown of Chappaqua, New York, marked the first time a former president has been compelled to testify to Congress. It came a day after Clinton’s wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, sat …
