Mamdani Endorses City Council Candidate Who Accused Cuomo of Sexual Harassment

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani endorsed Lindsey Boylan — the first woman to publicly accuse former Gov. Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment — in a City Council race on Friday, his latest attempt to wield his political clout to influence Democratic contests. Boylan “represents the kind of fearless leadership this moment demands,” Mamdani said in a statement. “She has shown a willingness to tell hard truths, to challenge entrenched power, and to stand up for working people even when it isn’t easy. That courage matters,” he said. Mamdani ran against Cuomo for mayor last year, beating him once in the Democratic primary, then again in the general election after the former governor ran as a third-party candidate. During that race, Boylan occasionally demonstrated outside Cuomo campaign events to draw attention to the harassment scandal that drove him from power. The endorsement came as Mamdani, who vaulted from relative obscurity to become a national progressive star last year, has wasted little time testing whether his potent brand can bring about a …

Those relate to breach of contract, retaliation and aiding and abetting in retaliation. In a statement to The Independent, a member of Lively’s legal team, Sigrid McCawley, said: “This case has always been and will remain focused on the devastating retaliation and the extraordinary steps the defendants took to destroy Blake Lively’s reputation because she stood up for safety on the set and that is the case that is going to trial. “For Blake Lively, the greatest measure of justice …

Blake Lively’s ‘It Ends With Us’ Case to Go to Trial Without Sexual Harassment Claims

Justin Baldoni will not have to face most claims in Blake Lively‘s lawsuit over alleged sexual harassment on the set of It Ends With Us. The decision significantly narrows the scope of the case as it marches toward trial. U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman on Thursday dismissed the majority of Lively’s case, including claims for defamation, conspiracy and sexual harassment. Absent a last-minute settlement, the trial will center on allegations of breach of contract, retaliation by Baldoni production company Wayfarer, and aiding and abetting retaliation by the public relations shop hired by the director. Lively is set to testify in the trial, which is scheduled for May. It’ll put clashing narratives advanced by the actress and Baldoni against each other. One tells a story of sexual harassment and retaliation by a filmmaker backed by a billionaire funding a unscrupulous network of public relations professionals. The other is the tale of an A-list actress, aided by some of the biggest celebrities in the world who include husband Ryan Reynolds and friend Taylor Swift, scheming to rip …

Online harassment is entering its AI era

Online harassment is entering its AI era

Regardless of whether or not the agent’s owner told it to write a hit piece on Shambaugh, it still seems to have managed on its own to amass details about Shambaugh’s online presence and compose the detailed, targeted attack it came up with. That alone is reason for alarm, says Sameer Hinduja, a professor of criminology and criminal justice at Florida Atlantic University who studies cyberbullying. People have been victimized by online harassment since long before LLMs emerged, and researchers like Hinduja are concerned that agents could dramatically increase its reach and impact. “The bot doesn’t have a conscience, can work 24-7, and can do all of this in a very creative and powerful way,” he says. Off-leash agents  AI laboratories can try to mitigate this problem by more rigorously training their models to avoid harassment, but that’s far from a complete solution. Many people run OpenClaw using locally hosted models, and even if those models have been trained to behave safely, it’s not too difficult to retrain them and remove those behavioral restrictions. Instead, …
