The first all-electric Mercedes C-Class is “as smooth as an S-Class” and can drive over 473 miles on a single charge. It’s also bringing a sleek new style, more power, and a tech-oriented interior with a massive digital screen. Here’s our first look at the new EV.

Meet the first Mercedes C-Class EV

“The all-new electric C-Class is redefining the mid-size segment for electric vehicles,” Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius said after revealing the new EV for the first time on Monday.

Mercedes revealed the new C-Class EV, the luxury brand’s answer to the Tesla Model 3 and upcoming BMW i3. The new C-Class is bringing an entirely new look, advanced tech, and nearly 475 miles (762 km) of WLTP driving range, but that’s just the start.

The first thing you’ll notice is the (even wider) redesigned grille up front with optional illumination, similar to the new GLC EV. It also features the new star-design headlights, which have become a signature on Mercedes’ vehicles.

From the side, the C-Class EV has a stunning coupe-like silhouette, with a taut roofline that flows seamlessly into the rounded rear.

The design maximizes airflow for greater efficiency, with a drag coefficient starting at 0.22. BMW has yet to reveal i3 specs, but the electric sedan is expected to improve upon the 0.24 Cd achieved by its sibling, the iX3 crossover SUV.

Even a 0.01 reduction in the drag coefficient can increase the range on long journeys by 2.5%, Mercedes said.

Plenty of driving range and 10-min fast charging

Powered by a new 94 kWh lithium-ion battery, the Mercedes C 400 4MATIC has a WLTP driving range of up to 473 miles (762 km).

With “one brief charging stop,” the C-Class EV “covers well over 1,000 kilometers,” according to Mercedes, or enough to travel from Berlin to Paris (1,054 km).

In just 10 minutes, the electric C-Class can add up to 201 miles (325 km) of WLTP range, with a charging capacity of up to 330 kW at 800-volt stations.

The C 400 4MATIC will be the first model to launch with an all-wheel drive powertrain and dual electric motors, delivering a combined 482 hp (360 kW).

As “the sportiest C-Class ever,” as Mercedes calls it, the top-of-the-range model can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 4 seconds.

A new rear-wheel-drive variant will follow the 2027 Mercedes C 400 4MATIC next year, with an expected WLTP range of around 497 miles (800 km).

To top it off, Mercedes added optional AIRMATIC air suspension and rear axle steering to make long road trips even more comfortable.

As a result, the electric sedan is “an extremely agile cornering machine and as smooth as an S‑Class on long journeys,” according to Mercedes.

High-quality interior

The interior features a “class-leading high-quality feel” with new premium seats and huge digital screens. Like the new electric GLC, the new MBUX HYPERSCREEN is optional, a 39.1″ floating touchscreen that spans the entire dashboard.

A 10.3″ driver cluster, 14″ infotainment, digitally animated panel comes standard, while you can also opt for the optional MBUX Superscreen that adds a 14″ passenger screen.

New standard “Softtorino” leather provides a “first-class feel” with electro-pneumatic 4-way lumbar support. The seats also include massage functions across the entire backrest, heating, and ventilation.

More premium trims gain a Burmester 4D Surround Sound System with speakers integrated into the seats. You can also add optional ambient lighting that runs from the instrument panel and center console to all doors.

The C-Class EV debuts a new automatic climate control feature that Mercedes said “heats up twice as fast as in combustion-powered models” during a 20-minute trip at -7 degrees Celsius.

“With the all-new electric C‑Class, we’ve raised everything customers love about this model to the next level,” Källenius said, adding, “The result is a new benchmark for quality, craftsmanship, and comfort. It is the most spacious and most intelligent C-Class ever.”

At 2,962 mm, the C-Class EV’s wheelbase is 97 mm longer than the gas-powered model. As a result, front passengers now have 12 mm more legroom.

The standard panoramic roof helps provide 22 mm more headroom for front passengers and 11 mm more in the rear.

With advanced new tech like the MBUX Virtual Assistant and the new MB.OS, the electric C-Class is “now more intelligent than ever.”

Mercedes’ fourth-gen infotainment is the first to combine AI from ChatGPT4o, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini.

The C 400 4MATIC is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2027. Check back for prices closer to launch.
