Jennifer Lopez’s child debuts name change at high school graduation – with support from Ben Affleck’s son

Jennifer Lopez’s eldest child, Emme Maribel Muñiz, graduated from high school on May 28. Emme’s father, Marc Anthony, was seemingly absent from the celebration, with the 18-year-old supported by their mom, twin brother Max, and former stepbrother, Samuel Affleck. It also appears that Emme graduated with a new name. In a March post shared by an Instagram account that tracks the college decisions of graduating Windward seniors, Jennifer’s kid was named as Oskar Muñiz and revealed that they plan to begin college to study theater and studio arts this fall. The post featured a childhood photo of Emme alongside their new name and future college logo. “Oskar to Sarah Lawrence! No more impromptu NYC trips because he’ll be living there! Good thing it’s only a few hours away from Stagedoor. Go gryphons!! Congrats!!!” read the caption.  © WireImageMax Muniz, Emme Muniz and Jennifer Lopez The post was liked by Jennifer Garner, who was previously married to the singer’s ex-husband, Ben Affleck. High gas prices have drivers lining up at Costco and Walmart : NPR

Drivers fuel up at a Costco gas station in Roseville, Mich. Paul Sancya/AP hide caption toggle caption Paul Sancya/AP Stay up to date with our Up First newsletter sent every weekday morning. In the hunt for cheaper gas, people are going out of their way for discounted fuel at Costco and Walmart — many of them visiting for the first time. Drivers also are now filling up more often, but topping up with fewer gallons at a time. As the U.S. war in Iran continues to drive up gas prices, Costco’s gas stations have been selling record amounts of fuel, executives told investors on a call Thursday. In fact, Costco had never sold as much gas as it did between April and mid-May, CEO Ron Vachris said, with stations having to get multiple daily gas deliveries to keep up. People have been willing to drive further and wait in line longer to buy cheaper gas. “A lot of members are increasing their frequency of visiting the gas station to top up in between what would …

Dennis Quaid files to stop paying $13k a month in child support to ex-wife as twins graduate high school

In recent court documents obtained by USA Today, The Substance star, 72, cited the terms of their 2018 divorce agreement, which state that he may stop paying $13,750 per month in child support “when a child completes 12th grade.” His two youngest are set to graduate from high school June 3, according to the outlet. Additionally, Quaid requested that the bonus amount he is supposed to send to Buffington if his annual income exceeds $1,314,000 be prorated to “each child’s graduation date rather than using Dennis’ full-year 2026 income.” A representative for Quaid declined …

Aim high but don’t shoot for the moon, mathematicians advise

Setting your sights high can lead to bigger rewards – up to a point Buena Vista Images/Getty Images Shoot for the moon and even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars, so the saying goes. But shooting straight for the stars instead might actually be the more effective option, according to mathematicians. In life, people tend to try to be ambitious, yet not overly so, when it comes to pursuing their objectives, such as landing a better job, finding an appropriate partner or achieving political goals. However, quantifying this balance hasn’t been studied in detail, and much research has focused on when people stop looking too soon and aren’t ambitious enough, says Thomas Hills at the University of Warwick, UK. Now, using mathematical models, Matt Burgess at the University of Wyoming and his colleagues have found that the best outcomes for uncertain scenarios typically come from aiming high, but not unrealistically so. “You can prove that the optimal ambition is strictly above average and strictly finite, meaning above average but you don’t shoot for …

Number of UK motorists using phones illegally while driving reaches eight-year high

The poll of 2,238 motorists, commissioned by the RAC, found 15 per cent admitted to using a phone to browse the internet, text, or post on social media while driving. This figure matches the 2018 peak, having fallen to a low of 7 per cent in 2021. More concerningly, one in 11 (9 per cent) respondents reported watching or recording a video, or livestreaming, while driving in the past 12 months, up from 5 per cent in 2024. This dangerous trend is most prevalent among under-25s, with the proportion rising from 23 per cent in 2024 to 27 per cent. The only type of illegal phone use which has declined this year is making or receiving a voice call without …

Kinlaw’s Performances Are High Stakes, No Net.

When I learned that performance artist Kinlaw had spent two years as an artist-in-residence at Bell Labs’ anechoic chamber, which is designed to be completely silent, I was excited to ask if she’d heard anything. After all, John Cage famously recalled hearing the high and low tones of his nervous and circulatory systems. Kinlaw laughed and said yes, but what she heard was nowhere near as refined: She’d heard the gurgling of the meat that is our bodies, and surprisingly, words—not spoken so much as reverberating in her mind like artifacts.  This attention to the materiality and labor of the body, as well as the way such energy holds open a relational space, characterizes Kinlaw’s capacious performance practice. She works across choreography, music, sound, and performance art, describing her process to me in a recent visit to her Bushwick studio as “creating a super-high-stakes situation and really committing to it, making an internal tension visible.”  Related Articles Kinlaw: gut ccheck: Hard Cut (still), 2024. Such stakes were abundantly clear in A Parking Lot in SoHo. …

She was thinking about what she was going to have to give up to keep gassing up her car. “Telling my kiddos, ‘we have to cut back on some stuff so that we can pay to put gas in the car and get from point A to point B,’” she said in a voice memo sent to NPR. UK high street giant closes store in seaside town | UK | News

The shop has closed for good (Image: Getty) A UK seaside town has waved goodbye to a popular shop, with locals now fearing the worst for the area. The fashion retailer, which operates around 200 shops across the UK and Ireland, closed the store for good on Wednesday (May 27). The closure of River Island in Llandudno, Wales, has left shoppers “gutted”. Some have blamed the rise of online shopping for the closure, while other have pointed towards increasing costs for businesses. Posters were put on the front windows of the shop at Parc Llandudno, reading: “This store is closing. Wednesday, May 27. Thanks for shopping with us – we’ve had a blast. You can still shop the latest trends at riverisland.com and nearby locations. With love, Ri x.” The store in Llandudno was not among the 33 closures announced by River Island earlier this year. The wider closures comes part of a restructuring and cost-cutting plan following multi-million pound losses. Huge fight erupts on UK beach as feral youths attack police and force families …

High Fitness Doesn’t Raise A-fib Risk In Young Men, Study Finds

By Dennis Thompson HealthDay ReporterWEDNESDAY, May 27, 2026 (HealthDay News) — Being incredibly fit shouldn’t increase a young adult’s risk of dangerous irregular heart rhythm, a new study says. Young male athletes and fitness buffs aren’t more likely to develop atrial fibrillation, despite earlier studies that showed an apparent link, researchers reported May 21 in the journal Circulation. “Our study shows that there are good reasons to nuance and tone down the message, which has been widespread at times, that high levels of fitness or participating in races would pose a big risk to a person’s cardiovascular health,” said lead investigator Marcel Ballin, an associated researcher at Uppsala University in Sweden. “The risk of atrial fibrillation is certainly not zero, but that said, the benefits are significantly greater,” he said in a news release. For the new study, researchers analyzed data for more than 1 million young Swedish men collected between 1972 and 1995 from national service data. Overall, initial results showed that the men with the highest levels of fitness did have a higher …
