Happy birthday, Kate Hudson! The two-time Oscar nominated actress and all around screen icon celebrates her 47th birthday today, and is likely spending her day with her family. Not only is Kate a proud mom to three kids, sons Ryder, 22, and Bingham, 14, and her daughter Rani Rose, seven, but she’s also part of one of Hollywood’s most legendary acting families, all stemming from mom Goldie Hawn and “pa” Kurt Russell. Kate Hudson has infused her red carpet sartorial agenda with bridal flair, as she stepped out in an ethereal number for the season two premiere of Running Point in Hollywood on April 15.  The actress wore Look 31 from the Brandon Maxwell fall 2026 collection. Styled by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, Kate donned a sleeveless white gown with a high neckline and a softly draped, asymmetrical silhouette that flowed into an elegant maxi skirt. The collar was finished with subtle black detailing for contrast. Oscar nominations 2026: In defence of Kate Hudson’s shocking Best Actress nod

Or maybe it only seems that way because so much of Oscar fandom leans gay and passionate, where a standard dinner party trivia game is naming all the films Meryl Streep has been nominated for (Music of the Heart should get you two points, frankly). Still, this year’s Best Actress category has felt more bloody than most, with the final five nominees – announced earlier today – seemingly curated for maximum discourse-bothering. And, yes, I do mean the surprise nod for Kate Hudson, for a film so under-the-radar that a colleague has already termed it “Song Sung who?”. But I am ready to raise my head above the parapet and declare it actually one of the better nominations today – even if something tells me Hudson will be pelted with metaphorical fruits …
