Govee’s smart nugget ice maker makes every iced drink feel like a luxury

Govee’s smart nugget ice maker makes every iced drink feel like a luxury

For some people, the ice in a beverage is almost as important as the drink itself. That’s the audience Govee had in mind when designing its latest ice maker, the GoveeLife Smart Nugget Ice Maker Pro. This $500 premium smart home gadget is aimed at those who crave what’s called “the good ice,” the soft, chewable nugget ice often found in fast food or restaurant drinks.  Govee says that the modern-design gadget delivers nugget ice in as little as six minutes. That’s a claim that proved true in my testing. It can make up to 60 pounds of ice per day, and has a 3.5-pound ice basket that automatically refills as you scoop out ice. The hefty price tag means it’s not for people who are perfectly happy with refrigerator ice and don’t know what “good ice” even means. Instead, it’s for self-proclaimed ice enthusiasts willing to splurge on a fun, luxury gadget that makes everyday drinks a little more enjoyable.  It’s simple to use, as you just need to fill the tank with water and …

Nelly’s Retro Snacks in Toa Payoh offers over 100 nostalgic treats like iced gem biscuits and ear crackers from S.50

Nelly’s Retro Snacks in Toa Payoh offers over 100 nostalgic treats like iced gem biscuits and ear crackers from S$1.50

Her now-defunct Century Square outlet closed last month. “Rent was too expensive,” says the now Singaporean PR, who paid about S$17,000 a month. “We were making losses, that’s why we closed the outlet,” says Laurel, who helps out at her mother’s stores, though she declined to specify the amount incurred. To offset the closure, Nelly opened a new outlet at a Toa Payoh HDB void deck on Apr 1, 2026. Compared to the mall store, the new space has a more charming old-school feel. “Rent is more affordable here,” Nelly says, though she declined to reveal any figures. “I’m still able to profit from the business, which is why we’re able to keep opening stores.” The mother-daughter duo now work together daily at the Toa Payoh outlet. “It’s not just about selling snacks – it’s about keeping the tradition alive so the next generation still gets to enjoy it,” Nelly says. Prices at the Toa Payoh outlet are also kept slightly lower as many customers there are elderly. “We try to keep prices down because …

Meanwhile, adding …

The best for coffee, iced coffee and hot chocolate

The best for coffee, iced coffee and hot chocolate

In the UK, we drink around 98 million cups of coffee every day, with many of us opting for a milky cappuccino or latte to get the day started. While the best coffee machines often include an integrated milk steamer, for those using a coffee pod machine or stove-top coffee maker, a standalone milk frother is the most effective way to create barista-quality foam. The best milk frother machines are generally quite compact and able to heat and froth milk in as little as 90 seconds. Prices range from £14.99 for a battery-operated, handheld frother from Salter to premium models from Nespresso and SMEG that can cost closer to £200. Milk frothers are generally quick and easy to clean. Some models are fully dishwasher safe while others just need a quick rinse; however, care should be taken to clean the jugs immediately after use as milk residue can build up on the base with regular use. I’ve tested the best on the market, with my reviews below, followed by the answers to some frequently asked …
