Vulnerable narcissism is linked to intense celebrity worship via parasocial relationships

Vulnerable narcissism is linked to intense celebrity worship via parasocial relationships

New research published in Behavioral Sciences suggests that people with certain self-centered but insecure personality traits tend to develop intense, one-sided bonds with famous figures. This unreciprocated connection provides evidence as to why these individuals are more likely to become excessively attached to celebrities. Extreme fascination with public figures is a growing issue in modern society. This behavior ranges from simply enjoying entertainment with friends to developing unhealthy obsessions that disrupt daily life. Psychologists often view this progression through an absorption and addiction framework. In this framework, people with a poorly developed sense of identity might use their interest in a celebrity as a coping mechanism. As they become more absorbed in the public figure’s life, their behavior can become addictive and increasingly problematic. The new study was conducted by Lawrence Locker Jr. and Jeff Klibert, psychology professors at Georgia Southern University, alongside Joshua L. Williams, a professor and chair of criminal justice and criminology at the same institution. They sought to explore how specific psychological struggles might drive obsessive fan behavior. “We were motivated …

The 38-year-old actor, who captivated audiences as the Duke of Hastings in the raunchy period drama, departed the series after its hugely successful first season. Speaking to Esquire UK, Page reflected on adapting to life in the spotlight since the Regency romance propelled him to fame. He said: “It is strange, it’s not normal. “How I navigate it is very much about what is useful, what serves me in my job, in being able to deliver what I need to deliver to an audience, and a lot of that is just grounding. “It does get quite loud on the inside, like it was very, very intense, that combination of conversation, and I think I worked quite consciously to be …

This is how we do it: ‘My orgasms have become more intense since I had a baby’ | Life and style

This is how we do it: ‘My orgasms have become more intense since I had a baby’ | Life and style

Sandra, 33 double quotation markSex was a reminder that I’m still me. That this identity still exists, which is really important because you do lose it a bit, especially in the early weeks of becoming a mother I was so nervous about sex after having a baby. I was scared about it hurting. But Roy was very gentle. I cried when I orgasmed for the first time after I’d given birth. My body hadn’t been used for pleasure in so long. I was also having a lot of issues with breastfeeding at the time; my nipples were so painful and I felt as if my body was not my own. Roy touched me with his fingers and I found it so emotional to know that I could take pleasure from my body again. It was a reminder that I’m still me. Sex was quite painful for a while, which was upsetting, but I think that is also normal. I had an episiotomy, so I had a lot of fear about the stitches breaking, but they healed quite quickly. I …

There was no official dress code, but the crowd had arrived almost unanimously in black. The invitation, meanwhile—a white box containing a gold cassette tape alongside the new scent—was doing the rounds as a talking point all night. Was it a tease of R9, the album Rihanna’s fans have been circling for a decade? Nobody knew. The food and beverage came courtesy of Carvingblock and took inspiration from both Rihanna’s native Barbados and Dior’s Paris. There were potato croissants topped with crème fraîche and caviar; Barbadian mahi-mahi tacos with charred habanero and cabbage salsa; golden beetroot tartlets with curry spice. Later in the evening came the caviar poulet—a chicken nugget crowned with caviar. Out on the patio, smokers had taken up residence alongside a contingent of stylists swapping notes about their client lists for the upcoming slate of awards warm-up parties. Inside, Dior ambassadors Yuko Araki, Harriet Herbig-Matten, and Nicole Wallace were spritzing themselves with the heady new scent making its way through the party on a silver tray, while a pool table nearby had …

Iran unleashes intense waves of strikes across Gulf as Hormuz crisis deepens

Iran unleashed an intense wave of strikes across the Gulf region on Wednesday morning, while continuing its stranglehold of the Strait of Hormuz, in an intense attacking upsurge signalling that the war continues unabated, despite US President Donald Trump’s statements on Tuesday night that the intervention was “pretty much” completed. Euronews journalists in Doha and Dubai reported intensive waves of Iranian attacks on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning in the two capitals and across the region. Two Iranian drones fell in the vicinity of Dubai International Airport on Wednesday morning, the second time after a similar strike on Saturday, injuring four foreign nationals, Euronews correspondents in Dubai reported. The Dubai Media Office, which issues statements on behalf of the city-state’s government, said in a post on X that air traffic “is operating as normal” for the time being. The attack was followed by a new wave of Iranian strikes being intercepted by air defence systems, after another night of UAE figher jets patrolling the city to seek Iranian missiles and drones and residents received two …
