Jane Fonda on Robert Redford Crush, Streisand’s Oscars Tribute

Jane Fonda made an appearance at the opening night of the TCM Classic Film Festival on Thursday night, where she took a moment to clarify her reaction to Robert Redford‘s In Memoriam segment at the Oscars. During the Academy Awards in March, Barbra Streisand took the stage for an emotional tribute and performance of “The Way We Were,” the title track of Sydney Pollack’s 1973 romantic drama, which starred Redford and Streisand. While on the carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar party that night, Fonda quipped to Entertainment Tonight,” “I want to know how come Streisand was up there doing that for Redford? She only made one movie with him; I made four! I have more to say.” Cut to Thursday, when Fonda arrived in Hollywood to celebrate her and Redford’s 1967 film Barefoot in the Park, which served as the opener for this year’s TCM fest. No Kings Protests: Bruce Springsteen, Jane Fonda, and Robert De Niro Turn Out Against Donald Trump

Springsteen shared the stage with the likes of progressive Senator Bernie Sanders and actor and activist Jane Fonda, who gave voice to the pain of those impacted by the actions of ICE agents by reading a statement from Becca Good, Renee Good’s widow. “The world now knows that my wife sparkled with sunshine and shone with kindness that is unmatched,” Good said in the statement. “We were robbed of an incredible human. It has made people pause, and take a breath, and have to choose sides. We choose the side of love.” Meanwhile, in New York, Robert De Niro took the podium at that city’s demonstration. The Heat actor is known for his direct criticism of Trump, which was on display Saturday. “It’s time to say no to kings,” he began. “It’s time to say no to Donald Trump. We’ve had enough. No King Trump, no unnecessary wars that rob our resources, sacrifice our brave servicemen and women and slaughter innocents. No corrupt leader enriching himself and the Epstein class buddies. No taking away healthcare …

Jane Fonda’s Dishy Memoir Proves She Walks the Walk

Jane Fonda’s Dishy Memoir Proves She Walks the Walk

The Lone Ranger Throughout her childhood, Jane Fonda had a mantra: “Make it better. I know I can make it better.” She was born Lady Jayne Seymour Fonda—yes, her first name is literally Lady—on December 21, 1937, in New York City. An original nepo baby, she was the daughter of wealthy socialite Frances Ford Seymour and movie star Henry Fonda, whose progressive views and sensitive, everyman roles in films like The Grapes of Wrath made him an offscreen hero. Growing up in Los Angeles, tomboy Jane—tough, tireless, infinitely curious—would do anything to gain her father’s approval. “He was happy with me when I was little,” she writes, “and deep down I knew his was the winning team, the one I’d do anything to join.” But as she got older, her father’s cold, distant personality and his “Protestant rages” made him impossible to reach. Fonda mimicked him, becoming insular, self-sufficient and obsessed with perfection. Once the family moved to Greenwich, Connecticut, when Fonda was ten, the tense family situation went from bad to worse. Her mother …
