Cush Jumbo explains key development for June and JP in Criminal Record

*Warning – contains spoilers for Criminal Record season 2 episode 4.* The fourth episode of Criminal Record season 2 has now been released on Apple TV, and it sees Cush Jumbo’s June Lenker beginning an affair with Luca Pasqualino’s new character, JP. “I can’t think why she’s drawn to him. He’s not attractive in any way,” Jumbo joked when speaking exclusively with Radio Times alongside her co-star Peter Capaldi, who plays Daniel Hegarty. Jumbo was asked about why June is drawn to JP in the new season, and away from her current partner, Stephen Campbell Moore’s Leo. “Well, for a start, he’s pretty oppositional to her partner,” Jumbo said of JP. “There’s something going on with June, which is about flipping her life. This case eventually escalates into an undercover operation to foil a far-right bomb plot in the heart of London. Speaking exclusively with Radio Times about the dynamic between Hegarty and Lenker this time around, Jumbo said of her character: “She’s in a slightly different job. And I don’t want to say she’s more hardened, she’s just been doing the job for a bit longer. But I do actually believe that it’s made her more insistent about her search for truth and justice. “She’s not particularly looking to work with Hegarty again, it just happens the way it happens. But she knows a lot …
